PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The DT-CAT624P and DT-CAT648P are respectively 24-port and 48-port patch panels Category 6
cables designed for Gigabit Ethernet network applications. These panels support T568A and
T568B wiring configurations, are FCC subpart 68 compliant and provide complete 256MHz
bandwidth.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND SAFETY WARNINGS
Never install this patch panel in a damp environment are near any facility with open water
(e.g., sinks, utility basins, open drains, etc.)
Due to the presence of high voltages no objects of any kind are to be inserted through the
panel’s openings.
Installation of this product and all communications/wiring connections are to be done by a
qualified and licensed technician.
Never touch bare wiring and/or terminals unless the wiring has been disconnected from
powered network equipment.

INSTALLATION
1. UNPACKING and HANDLING
Each unit is shipped assembled and factory tested.
Ensure that all accessories are removed from the container before discarding packing material
2. MECHANICAL INSPECTION
Inspect the front and rear of the equipment for shipping damage. Make sure the equipment is
clean, and no connectors are broken, damaged, or loose. If equipment appears to be
damaged or defective please contact your distributor or Datatronix at 1-610-429-1511 for
assistance.
3. INSTALLATION and CONNECTIONS
a. AWG 22-24 Category 6 cable wires are recommended for this unit.
b. This patch panel supports T568A and T568B wiring configurations. Verify the wiring
configuration conforms to the wiring color scheme depicted on the back panel cover.
c. Use the proper termination tools such as a 110 Impact Tool
or Krone Impact Tool.
d. Using the supplied screws the patch panel should be
installed in any standard 19” equipment rack or
communications cabinet.
e. Remove 3” of jacket insulation and center spline from the cable. Leave no more than
8mm or 0.3 inch of wire to make the connection to the IDC slots.
f. Locate the jacketed cable above the IDCs.
g. Using the wiring color scheme displayed on the back panel,
terminate each cable pair in its color slot. Ensure the solid
colored wire of each pair is placed in the correct slot. Use a
110 or Krone Impact Tool to impact the wire into the 110IDC.
h. Place the IDC cover over the connections to reduce the
presence of dirt and moisture on the connections in
addition to better securing the wires.

i. The patch panel’s cable manager can be mounted if
desired easy and convenient cable arrangement.
4. TROUBLESHOOTING
a. Make sure all component and UTP cable connections are tight and not loose.
b. Ensure the wire connections from the patch panel to the network device are using the
same wiring schemes.
c. The quality of UTP cables has a major effect on the usable distance of transmission
lines and the quality of data transmitted or a displayed signal. Therefore, the actual
transmission length is subject to the quality of the UTP cables being used.
Professional grade transmission lines cables should be used.
d. If interference (i.e., electrical noise) is present check all system connections including
the patch panel and all network devices are properly grounded.
