System Overview
R7425 Overview
The Dell EMC PowerEdge R7425is a 2 socket, 2U server designed to run complex workloads using highly scalable memory, I/O, and
network. The systems feature the AMD Naples socket SP3 compatible processor, supports up to 32 AMD "Zen" x86 cores, up to 32
DIMMs, PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 enabled expansion slots, and a choice of network interface technologies to cover NIC and rNDC.
Product positioning
The PowerEdge R7425 is a general-purpose platform with highly expandable memory and impressive I/O capability to match. The
R7425 is capable of handling demanding workloads and applications, targets to support data warehouses, E-commerce, databases,
and high-performance computing (HPC).

Introduction
The PowerEdge R7425 is a general-purpose platform with highly expandable memory up to 4 TB, and impressive I/O capabilities to
match.
The R7425 is packed with the following features:
• Up to 8 channels with 2 DIMMs per channel per CPU and 32 DIMMs in total, DDR4 with ECC up to 2667 MT/s.
• Integrated USB and integrated storage controllers.
• Highly optimized air ow design enables tremendous conguration exibility and industrial leading energy eciency.
• Out of band management architecture facilitating rapid bare metal deployment regardless of OS state.
• Integrated PCI Express Gen 3 for improved bandwidth and connectivity.
• Highly optimized cache structure for high performance, energy ecient compute.
• Embedded SupportAssist reducing troubleshooting and downtime with embedded diagnostic and automated case creation.
• Supports complete lifecycle management with the OpenManage portfolio of systems management solutions, including leading

Indicates if the iDRAC Quick Sync 2 wireless option is activated.
The Quick Sync 2 feature allows management of the system
using mobile devices. This feature aggregates hardware/rmware
inventory and various system level diagnostic/error information
that can be used in troubleshooting the system. You can access
system inventory, Dell Lifecycle Controller logs or system logs,
system health status, and also congure iDRAC, BIOS, and
networking parameters. You can also launch the virtual Keyboard,
Video, and Mouse (KVM) viewer and virtual Kernel based Virtual
Machine (KVM), on a supported mobile device. For more

is a fan failure).
Ensure that none of the following conditions exist:
• A cooling fan has been removed or has failed.
• System cover, air shroud, memory module blank, or
back ller bracket is removed.
• Ambient temperature is too high.
• External airow is obstructed.
Electrical
indicator
The indicator turns solid amber if
the system experiences an electrical
error (for example, voltage out of
range, or a failed power supply unit
(PSU) or voltage regulator).
Check the System Event Log or system messages for
the specic issue. If it is due to a problem with the
PSU, check the LED on the PSU. Reseat the PSU.
Memory indicator The indicator turns solid amber if a
memory error occurs.
Check the System Event Log or system messages for
the location of the failed memory. Reseat the memory
module.
PCIe indicator The indicator turns solid amber if a
PCIe card experiences an error.
Restart the system. Update any required drivers for
the PCIe card. Reinstall the card.
System health and system ID indicator codes
The system health and system ID indicator is located on the left control panel of your system.

Blinking amber Indicates that the system is experiencing a fault. Check the System
Event Log or the LCD panel, if available on the bezel, for specic

iDRAC Direct LED indicator codes
The iDRAC Direct LED indicator lights up to indicate that the port is connected and is being used as a part of the iDRAC subsystem.
iDRAC Direct LED indicator is located below the iDRAC Direct port on the right control panel.
You can congure iDRAC Direct by using a type A to micro B USB cable, which you can connect to your laptop or tablet. The
following table describes iDRAC Direct activity when the iDRAC Direct port is active:

To reset iDRAC, press and hold the button for more than 15 seconds.
NOTE: To reset iDRAC using system ID, ensure that the
system ID button is enabled in the iDRAC setup.
NOTE: If the system stops responding during POST, press
and hold the system ID button (for more than ve seconds)
to enter the BIOS progress mode.
