Export Regulations
Customer acknowledges that these Products, which may include technology and software, are
subject to the customs and export control laws and regulations of the United States (“U.S.”) and
may also be subject to the customs and export laws and regulations of the country in which the
Products are manufactured and/or received. Customer agrees to abide by those laws and
regulations. Further, under U.S. law, the Products may not be sold, leased or otherwise transferred
to restricted end-users or to restricted countries. In addition, the Products may not be sold, leased
or otherwise transferred to, or utilized by an end-user engaged in activities related to weapons of
mass destruction, including without limitation, activities related to the design, development,
production or use of nuclear weapons, materials, or facilities, missiles or the support of missile
projects, and chemical or biological weapons.
Dell Software License Agreement
This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between you, the user, and Dell Products L.P or Dell
Global B.V. ("Dell"). This Agreement covers all software that is distributed with or for the Dell
product (and upgrades and updates thereto), for which there is no separate license agreement
between you and the manufacturer or owner of the software (collectively the "Software"). This
Agreement is not for the sale of Software or any other intellectual property. All title and intellectual
property rights in and to Software is owned by the manufacturer or owner of the Software. All rights
not expressly granted under this Agreement are reserved by the manufacturer or owner of the
Software. By opening or breaking the seal on the Software packet(s), installing or downloading the
Software, or using the Software that has been preloaded or is embedded in your product, you agree
to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, promptly return all
Software items (media, written materials, and packaging) and delete any preloaded or embedded
Software.
You may use one copy of the Software on only one Dell computer or device at a time. If you have
multiple licenses for the Software, you may use as many copies at any time as you have licenses.
"Use" means loading the Software in temporary memory or permanent storage on the computer
or device. Installation on a network server solely for distribution to other computers or devices is
not "use" if (but only if) you have a separate license for each computer or device to which the
Software is distributed. You must ensure that the number of persons using the Software installed
on a network server does not exceed the number of licenses that you have. If the number of users
of Software installed on a network server will exceed the number of licenses, you must purchase
additional licenses until the number of licenses equals the number of users before allowing
additional users to use the Software. If you are a commercial customer of Dell or a Dell affiliate,
you hereby grant Dell, or an agent selected by Dell, the right to perform an audit of your use of
the Software during normal business hours, you agree to cooperate with Dell in such audit, and
you agree to provide Dell with all records reasonably related to your use of the Software.
The audit will be limited to verification of your compliance with the terms of this Agreement.
The Software is protected by United States and other applicable copyright laws and international
treaties. You may make one copy of the Software solely for backup or archival purposes or transfer
it to a single hard disk or storage device, provided you keep the copy solely for backup or archival
purposes. You shall reproduce and include copyright and other proprietary notices on and in any

copies for the Software. You may not sublicense, rent or lease the Software, but you may transfer
the Software and all accompanying materials on a permanent basis as part of a sale or transfer of
the Dell product if you retain no copies and the recipient agrees to the terms hereof. Any transfer
must include the most recent update and all prior versions. You may not reverse engineer,
decompile or disassemble, modify or create derivative works of the Software. If the package
accompanying your computer or device contains optical discs or other storage media, you may
use only the media appropriate for your computer or device. You may not use the media on
another computer, device or network, or loan, rent, lease, or transfer them to another user except
as permitted by this Agreement.
Limited Warranty
Dell warrants that the Software media will be free from defects in materials and workmanship
under normal use for 90 days from the date you receive them. This warranty is limited to you and
is not transferable. Any implied warranties are limited to 90 days from the date you receive the
Software. Some jurisdictions do not allow limits on the duration of an implied warranty, so this
limitation may not apply to you. The entire liability of Dell and its suppliers, and your exclusive
remedy, shall be, at Dell's option, either (a) termination of this Agreement and return of the price
paid for the Software or (b) replacement of any media not meeting this warranty that is sent with
a return authorization number to Dell, within the 90 day warranty period, at your cost and risk.
This limited warranty is void if any media damage has resulted from accident, abuse,
misapplication, or service or modification by someone other than Dell. Any replacement media is
warranted for the remaining original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.
Dell and its suppliers do NOT warrant that the functions of the Software will meet your requirements
or that operation of the Software will be uninterrupted or error free. You assume responsibility for
selecting the Software to achieve your intended results and for the use and results obtained from the
Software.
DELL, ON BEHALF OF ITSELF AND ITS SUPPLIERS, DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED
TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY WARRANTY REGARDING TITLE OR AGAINST
INFRINGEMENT, FOR THE SOFTWARE AND ALL ACCOMPANYING WRITTEN
MATERIALS. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS;
YOU MAY HAVE OTHERS, WHICH VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
IN NO EVENT SHALL DELL OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES
WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF
BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION,
OR OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS) ARISING OUT OF USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW AN EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF

Open Source Software
A portion of the Software may contain or consist of open source software, which you can use
under the terms and conditions of the specific license under which the open source software is
distributed.

General
This license is effective until terminated. It will terminate upon the conditions set forth above or
if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you agree that the Software and
accompanying materials, and all copies thereof, will be destroyed. This Agreement is governed by
the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to principles of conflicts of laws. Each provision of
this Agreement is severable. If a provision is found to be unenforceable, this finding does not affect
the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Agreement. This Agreement is binding on
successors and assigns. Dell agrees and you agree to waive, to the maximum extent permitted by
law, any right to a jury trial with respect to the Software or this Agreement. Because this waiver may
not be effective in some jurisdictions, this waiver may not apply to you. You acknowledge that you
have read this Agreement, that you understand it, that you agree to be bound by its terms, and that
this is the complete and exclusive statement of the Agreement between you and Dell regarding the
Software.

Supplemental Terms for EMC Software
You may use one copy of the Software on only one computer or device at a time for your own
internal business purposes. You shall not, without Dell's prior written consent copy, provide,
disclose or otherwise make available Software in any form to anyone other than your employees,
consultants or independent contractors who shall use the Software in a manner that is consistent
with this Agreement.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Agreement, licenses to Software are non-
exclusive, non-transferable and non-sub licensable and subject to the restriction that the
Software be used solely in conjunction with the equipment (storage system or switch/hub) or
related central processing unit for which it was licensed.

CAUTION: General Safety Instructions
Use the following safety guidelines to help ensure your own personal safety and to help protect
your equipment and working environment from potential damage.
NOTE: Additional user information for your printer may be available in the "Manuals" section
at support.dell.com.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR USE IN HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTS: Dell products
are not medical devices and are not listed under UL or IEC 60601 (or equivalent). As a result,
they must not be used within 6 feet of a patient or in a manner that directly or indirectly
contacts a patient.
SAFETY: General Safety
When setting up the equipment for use:
• Place the equipment on a hard, level surface. Leave 10.2 cm (4 in) minimum of clearance
on all vented sides of the printer to permit the airflow required for proper ventilation.
Restricting airflow can damage the printer or cause a fire.
• Do not stack equipment or place equipment so close together that it is subject to
re-circulated or preheated air.
NOTE: Review the weight limits referenced in your computer documentation before
placing a printer, a monitor, or other devices on top of your computer.
• Ensure that nothing rests on your equipment's cables and that the cables are not located
where they can be stepped on or tripped over.
• Do not place your equipment in a closed-in wall unit or on a bed, sofa, or rug.
• Keep your device away from radiators and heat sources.
• Keep your equipment away from extremely hot or cold temperatures to ensure that it is
used within the specified operating range.
• Do not push any objects into the air vents or openings of your equipment. Doing so can
cause fire or electric shock by shorting out interior components.
• Avoid placing loose papers underneath your device. Do not place your device in a closed-in
wall unit, or on a soft, fabric surface such as a bed, sofa, carpet, or a rug.
When operating your equipment:
• Do not use your equipment in a wet environment, for example, near a bath tub, sink, or
swimming pool or in a wet basement.
• Do not use AC powered equipment during an electrical storm.
• If your device includes an integrated or optional (PC card) modem, disconnect the
modem cable if an electrical storm is approaching to avoid the remote risk of electric shock
from lightning via the telephone line.

• If your device includes a modem, the cable used with the modem should be manufactured
with a minimum wire size of 26 American wire gauge (AWG) and an FCC compliant
RJ-11 modular plug.
• Do not spill food or liquids on your equipment.
• Before you clean your equipment, disconnect it from the electrical outlet. Clean your
device with a soft cloth dampened with water. Do not use liquids or aerosol cleaners, which
may contain flammable substances.
• Clean the Printer display with a soft, clean cloth and water. Apply the water to the cloth,
then stroke the cloth across the display in one direction, moving from the top of the
display to the bottom. Remove moisture from the display quickly and keep the display dry.
Long-term exposure to moisture can damage the display. Do not use a commercial window
cleaner to clean your display.
WARNING: Do not operate your equipment with any cover(s) (including external or
internal covers, bezels, filler brackets, front-panel inserts, etc.) removed.
• If your equipment does not operate normally - in particular, if there are any unusual
sounds or smells coming from it - unplug it immediately and contact an authorized dealer
or service center.
SAFETY: Laser Printer
Dell Laser Printers comply with safety requirements and are classified as Class 1 Laser Products,
under the US DHHS Standard and IEC/EN60825-1 Laser Safety Standard. The radiation from
the lasers emitted inside the printer is completely confined within protective housings and
external covers, and the laser beam cannot escape during any phase of normal user operation.
WARNING: Using controls, making adjustments, or performing procedures other than
those specified in your user documentation or in instructions provided to your by Dell may
result in exposure to hazardous radiation.
SAFETY: When Working Inside Your Device
Do not attempt to service the equipment yourself, except as explained in your Dell
documentation or in instructions otherwise provided to you by Dell.
Always follow installation and service instructions closely.
SAFETY: General Power Safety
Observe the following guidelines when connecting your equipment to a power source:
• Check the voltage rating before you connect the equipment to an electrical outlet to
ensure that the required voltage and frequency match the available power source.
• Also, ensure that your printer and attached devices are electrically rated to operate with
the AC power available in your location.

• Do not plug the equipment power cables into an electrical outlet if the power cable is
damaged.
• To prevent electric shock, plug the equipment power cables into properly grounded
electrical outlets. If the equipment is provided with a 3-prong power cable, do not use
adapter plugs that bypass the grounding feature, or remove the grounding feature from the
plug or adapter.
• If you use an extension power cable, ensure that the total ampere rating of the products
plugged in to the extension power cable does not exceed the ampere rating of the
extension cable.
• If you must use an extension cable or power strip, ensure the extension cable or power strip
is connected to a wall power outlet and not to another extension cable or power strip. The
extension cable or power strip must be designed for grounded plugs and plugged into a
grounded wall outlet.
• If you are using a multiple-outlet power strip, use caution when plugging the power cable
into the power strip. Some power strips may allow you to insert a plug incorrectly. Incorrect
insertion of the power plug could result in permanent damage to your equipment, as well
as risk of electric shock and/or fire. Ensure that the ground prong of the power plug is
inserted into the mating ground contact of the power strip.
• Be sure to grasp the plug, not the cable, when disconnecting equipment from an electric
socket.
If your equipment uses an AC adapter:
• Use only the Dell provided AC adapter approved for use with this device. Use of another
AC adapter may cause a fire or explosion.
NOTE: Refer to your system rating label for information on the proper adapter model
approved for use with your device.
• Place the AC adapter in a ventilated area, such as a desk top or on the floor, when you use
it to run the printer. Do not cover the AC adapter with papers or other items that will
reduce cooling; also, do not use the AC adapter inside a carrying case.
• The AC adapter may become hot during normal operation of your printer. Use care when
handling the adapter during or immediately after operation.
• It is recommended that you lay the adapter on the floor or desk so that the green light is
visible. This will alert you if the adapter should accidentally go off due to external effects.
If for any reason the green light goes off, disconnect the AC power cord from the wall for a
period of ten seconds, and then reconnect the power cord.
• For AC adapters that are set in the printer, unplug the power cable first before pulling out
the AC adapter.

If your equipment uses a replaceable battery:
WARNING: There is a danger of a new battery exploding if it is incorrectly installed.
Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the
manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.
SAFETY: If Your Device Gets Wet
WARNING: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, see the SAFETY:
General Safety section of this document.
WARNING: Perform this procedure only after you are certain that it is safe to do so. If the
printer is connected to an electrical outlet, turn off the AC power at the circuit breaker, if
possible, before attempting to remove the power cables from the electrical outlet. Use the
utmost caution when removing wet cables from a live power source.
1 Disconnect the AC adapter from the electrical outlet, and then, if possible, disconnect the
AC adapter from the device.
2 Turn off any attached external devices, then disconnect them from their power sources, and
then from the device.
3 Contact Dell support (see your User's Guide or Owner's Manual for the appropriate contact
information).
SAFETY: If You Drop or Damage Your Printer
WARNING: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, see the SAFETY:
General Safety and Power Safety sections of this document.
WARNING: If any internal components can be seen through damaged portions, or if smoke
or unusual odors are detected, disconnect the device from the electrical outlet and contact
Dell support. See your User's Guide or Owner's Manual for the appropriate contact.
1 Save and close any open files, exit any open programs, and shut down the computer.
2 Turn off the printer and disconnect from the power source, and then disconnect from the
computer.
3 Turn off any attached external devices, and disconnect them from their power sources and
then from the computer.
4 Connect the printer to the power source and turn on the printer.
If the device does not start, or if and smoke or unusual odors are detected, or you cannot identify
the damaged components, contact Dell (see your User's Guide or Owner's Manual for the
appropriate contact information).

Equipment Protection Instructions
Observe the following safe-handling guidelines to help prevent damage to your equipment:
CAUTION: When taking equipment from low-temperature conditions into a warmer
environment or from high-temperature conditions into a cooler environment, allow the
equipment to acclimate to room temperature and for any condensation that may have formed
to evaporate before turning on power to avoid damage to the equipment.
• Protect your equipment from environmental hazards such as dirt, dust, food, liquids,
temperature extremes, and overexposure to sunlight.
• If your device has both a modem RJ-11 connector and a network RJ-45 connector, which
look alike, make sure that you insert the telephone cable into the RJ-11 connector, not the
RJ-45 connector.
Protecting Against Electrostatic Discharge
WARNING: Disconnect product from mains power source in accordance with product-
specific safety information located within this document.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) events can harm electronic components inside your printer or
computer. Under certain conditions, ESD may build up on your body or an object, such as a
peripheral, and then discharge into another object, such as your printer or computer. To prevent
ESD damage, you should discharge static electricity from your body before you interact with any
of your equipment’s internal electronic components, such as a memory module.
You can protect against ESD and discharge static electricity from your body by touching a metal
grounded object (such as an unpainted metal surface on your printer's or computer’s I/O panel) before
you interact with anything electronic. When connecting a peripheral (including handheld digital
assistants) to your printer or computer, you should always ground both yourself and the peripheral
before connecting it to the printer or computer. In addition, as you work inside the printer, periodically
touch a metal-grounded object to remove any static charge your body may have accumulated.
You can also take the following steps to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge:
• When unpacking a static-sensitive component from its shipping carton, do not remove the
component from the antistatic packing material until you are ready to install the
component. Just before unwrapping the antistatic package, be sure to discharge static
electricity from your body.
• When transporting a sensitive component, first place it in an antistatic container or packaging.
• Handle all electrostatic sensitive components in a static-safe area. If possible, use antistatic
floor pads and work bench pads.

Environmental Considerations
Recycling Information
Dell recommends that customers dispose of their used computer hardware, monitors, printers,
and other peripherals in an environmentally sound manner. Potential methods include reuse of
parts or whole products and recycling of products, components, and/or materials.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
In the European Union, this label indicates that this product should not be
disposed of with household waste. It should be deposited at an appropriate
facility to enable recovery and recycling. For information on how to recycle
this product responsibly in your country, please visit:

Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals (REACH)
REACH is the European Union (EU) chemical substances regulatory framework. Information on
substances of very high concern contained in Dell products in a concentration above 0.1 %
weight by weight (w/w) can be found at www.dell.com/REACH.
Batteries Directive - Information for Users
In the European Union, this label indicates that the batteries in this product
should be collected separately and not be disposed of with household waste.
Substances in batteries can have a potential negative impact on health and
environment and you have a role in recycling waste batteries thus contributing
to the protection, preservation and improvement of the quality of environment.
You should contact your local authority or retailer for details of the collection
and recycling schemes available. Alternatively please visit
www.euro.dell.com/recycling.
ENERGY STAR®Compliance
Any Dell™ product bearing the ENERGY STAR emblem on the product or on a start-up screen is
certified to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR requirements
as configured when shipped by Dell.

ENERGY STAR®Emblem
The EPA's ENERGY STAR program is a joint effort between the EPA and
manufacturers to reduce air pollution by promoting energy-efficient
products.
You can help reduce electricity usage and its side effects by turning off
your product when it is not in use for extended periods of time,
particularly at night and on weekends.
