Chapter 1. Overview

devices.

Cabinet Door are provided in the documentation delivered
with the door.
1.1. R@ck'n Roll Cabinet 1242
The R@ck'n Roll Cabinet 1242 is 600 mm wide, 42-U high and 1200 mm deep
and delivers rack-integrated, factory-assembled, ready-to-use solutions.
The R@ck'n Roll Cabinet 1242 can be shipped loaded and goes through
standard doorways, once depalletized, on its castors.
Notes •1 U = 44.45 mm (1.75 in).
Maximum allowable thermal dissipation: 40 KW /42U per cabinet.

1.2. PDU Models
The following Power Distribution Units (PDUs) are available:

According to type, the PDUs allow you to connect six, seven, twelve or thirty
servers and/or devices to a single dedicated power supply outlet.
All PDUs can be installed both vertically and horizontally in the cabinet. Refer to
the documentation delivered with the PDU for detailed installation instructions.
Note See Appendix A. for PDU specifications.
Important France: Power sockets and plugs must be compliant with
Decree 88-1056 Article 20-IV, dated 14th November 1988.

2.1. Service Clearance
It is mandatory to comply with the service clearance requirements, as indicated
in the following figure.
Important .Aisles must be at least 120 cm wide
.Full access to equipment is mandatory for maintenance
operations
.Customers are advised to plan ahead and to provide
space for extensions

2.3. Water-Cooled Cabinets Considerations
2.3.1. Water-Cooled 1200 Cabinet Cut-outs
When a cooling unit is installed to supply water to water-cooled cabinets,
cut-outs must be made in the raised floor slabs to allow water circulation, as
shown in the following figure.
Important The cabinet must be aligned with slab sides.

2.3.2. Preparing the Cooling Unit for Water-Cooled Cabinets
Important To protect from condensation at heat exchanger level, it is
strongly recommended to insulate the water pipes.
Water-cooled cabinets are connected to the site cooling unit with two G1 1/4
tapered male connectors and to the site drain with one 20 mm nozzle.
Hoses are not included in the standard offer.
Connectors: G1 ¼ tapered male connectors
Standard: STAUBLI ISO 164
It is necessary to prepare the cooling unit for connection to the water-cooled
cabinet ahead of the installation date, taking care to provide sufficient space for
connection and disconnection.
The following figure shows an example of the plumbing installation for a
water-cooled cabinet.
Important You are advised to clearly label the inlet and outlet water
hoses.

2.3.3. Environmental Conditions for Water-Cooled Cabinets
Important Consult your air-conditioning system specialist for advice
on how to plan for the installation of water-cooled
cabinets.
For a cooling capacity of up to 40 KW, the following environmental conditions
must be complied with:
Room temperature 20°C: Input water temperature 7°C
Room temperature 25°C: Input water temperature
12°C
Waterflow: 2 liters per second
Pressure drop: 140 kPa typical at 2l/second
Important You are strongly advised to contact the support team for
expert advice on how to optimize cooling.
