DR Series system, Release 2.0.0.0, Build Number: 2.0.0262.0.

The maximum external storage capacity is reached by adding up to two external storage expansion
enclosures in 9 Terabyte (TB), 18 TB, or 27 TB increments. The DR Series system requires that each
external enclosure added be equal to or greater than each DR Series system internal drive slot 0-11
capacity. The supported external expansion enclosure for the DR Series system is the Dell PowerVault
MD1200 direct-attached storage array. Requirements for adding expansion enclosures: 1) you meet
the internal drive slot capacity requirement, and 2) install the required expansion shelf license. For
information about the supported external expansion enclosures, see the Dell MD1200 Hardware
Owner’s Manual.

5The Dell DR4000 system licensing is all-inclusive for using OST. No additional Dell licensing is required to
use OST or the optimized duplication capability (the Dell OST plug-in that gets installed on a supported
Linux or Windows media server platform is a free download from Dell).
However, Symantec NetBackup requires that you purchase a Symantec OpenStorage Disk Option license.
Similarly, Symantec Backup Exec requires that you purchase the Deduplication Option to enable the OST
feature.
NOTE: To increase data storage capacity on a DR Series system, you can
install a supported expansion enclosure that meets these requirements:
• Uses the Dell PowerVault MD1200 storage array (maximum of two
enclosures).

• Each added external expansion enclosure must be equal to or
greater than the DR Series system internal drive slot 0-11 capacity.
• Install an expansion shelf license when adding enclosures.
