FMC SATA RAID board [AB09-FMCRAID]

Introduction
Thank you for choo ing FMC SATA RAID board [Part Number: AB09-FMCRAID] (“RAID board” in thi manual.)
The RAID board i compliant with FMC tandard and provide 10 SATA channel at maximum by high peed erial
interface in HPC(High Pin Count)-FMC o that u er can build SATA RAID prototype y tem.
The RAID board mount 5 SATA interface at both of component and older ide of the board and can directly connect with
10 2.5”-SATA drive. U er can upply power to the connected SATA drive via 4-pin ATX Standard power connector.
On-board 150MHz low-jitter differential o cillator will upply high-quality reference SATA clock to the refclk input of
FPGA.
Following figure-1 how the RAID board with 5 2.5”-SATA drive and connected FPGA board. (U er can mount another
5 2.5”-SATA drive on the older ide of the RAID board o that the RAID board can upport up to 10 SATA drive at
maximum.

Board Appearance
The RAID board ize i 69mm width and 87mm length.
Following figure-2 and figure-3 how component ide and older ide appearance re pectively.

Connection to the FPGA board
Connect the RAID board with FMC-HPC connector on the FPGA board.
For 2.5”-SATA drive connection, u er can directly connect SATA drive with 5 SATA channel of CH#0 to CH#4 on the
component ide and another 5 channel of CH#5-CH#9 on the older ide.
U e 4-pin ATX Standard power connector for SATA drive power upply.
U er mu t check that both the RAID board and FPGA board i powered off when remove or connect SATA drive, RAID
board, or FPGA board.
To connect 3.5”-SATA drive, u e SATA general extention cable. Following general extention cable i uitable for 3.5”
u age.

Differential Impedance
Differential Impedance of SATA ignal trace on the RAID board i controlled to 100ohm to keep ignal quality. Following
figure-4 how TDR mea urement re ult of CH#3 differential impedance of the RAID board. A in thi re ult, mea ured
impedance i about 95-98ohm o mo tly adju ted to 100ohm. (The light blue po ition mean PCB trace part on the RAID
board.)
