Importantnotice: Allacrylicpartswerecutwithalaser.Duetothisproductionmethodthereisaprotectivefilmon
theirsurface.Ithastoberemovedbeforetheassembly.Theprotectivefilmpreventstheacrylicfrombeingdamagedin
theproductionprocess.Underneaththefoil theacrylicisclean.
TheMDFcomponentswerealsocutwithalaser.Themethodcreatesan edgewhoseodormaypossiblybeperceivedas
unpleasantwoododor.Ifnecessary,theMDFcomponentsaretobeairedoutoutdoors,24to36hoursaresufficient.
StainsontheMDFarenormalandwhentheclockhasbeenassembledtheyarebeingcoveredbythechromefoiland
themotherboard.
Theprotectivefilmneedstoberemovedcarefullyfromtheacrylicnumbers.Forthispurposethekitcontainsared
acrylictool.Withthistooltheprotectivefilmcanbeliftedontheedgesforeasierremoval.Pleasebeverycareful.
Especiallythetwolightpipesofeveryacrylicnumberareveryfragileandbreakwhenthereistoomuchstrain. Take
yourtimeforthisstep.
Itisalsorecommendabletowearglovessotheacrylicdoesnotgetstained.Incasetherearefingerprintsontheacrylic
inspiteofthat,remove themimmediatelyusinganewandcleanmicrofibercloth. Pleasedonotusealcoholor
methylatedspiritstocleanit.Thatdestroystheacrylicimmediately! Iftheuseofcleaningdetergentsisnecessarythen
pleaseuseonlyplasticcleanerwithoutalcoholandwithoutsolvents.
Pleasebeverycarefulwiththemotherboardwhiletheclockisnotassembledyet.Especiallytheoperatingpanelis
fragile(e.g.concerningpressure).Pleasedonotpressituntilthewholeassemblyoftheswitchand theencoderis
completed.
Throughouttheassemblytoolsareunnecessary.AfittingTorxscrewdriverishelpfulbutshouldnotbeusedwithforce.
Thescrewsshouldonlybetightenedwithyourhands.Thatisveryimportantfortheinsertionoftheacrylicnumbers.
Onlyinsertthemwhilethescrewsarealittletightenedbutstillloose.Ifyoutightenthemtoomuchthefragileacrylic
numberscanbreak.
Pleaseadd theknobfortheencoderandthealuminumknobforthepush-buttoncarefully.Dueto thelaser-cuttingthe
knobfortheencoderhasonesidewhereitiseasiertoaddandonewhereitisalittleharder.Ifyouhaveproblemswith
thiscomponenttryturningitaround.

TheoperatingsystemoftheNixieCroNM4kitsisbasedonLEDBASIC.The32bitARM-CortexM0controlleronthe
motherboardcanprocesstheBASICcodequickly about10,000linespersecond.
TheinspirationforLEDBASICis the BasicinterpreterbyAdamDunkel.
WithLEDBASICyoucanchange,modify,oradjustthecompleteNixieCroNsystem.LEDBASICisfreewareandcanbe
learnedeasily.
