DDI-9E INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL
DIGITIZE, INC 700236-0001 REV. A 1-1
SECTION 1
OVERVIEW
The DDI-9E is a dua ine externa dia er receiver modu e capab e of processing Contact
ID account information. On y one DDI-9E may be connected to a SYSTEM 3500/3000.
The Digita Dia er interface option a ows the SYSTEM 3500/3000 to receive a arms
through the dia up te ephone network. The dia er option software provides conversion of
coded information from the receiver into the proper format for processing by the
SYSTEM 3500/3000.
The DDI-9E is an dua - ine externa dia er receiver modu e (P/N 425196-0001 and
425196-0002) that wi accept any pu sed dia er rate from 10 to 40 (37) BPS using 3x2 or
4x1 formats. Contact ID format wi a so operate with the DDI-9E. The DDI-9E wi
process a dia er formats now avai ab e with the DDI-7/8 (except the unit cannot mix 3x2
formats with 4x1 formats.). Converting from the DDI-8 to the DDI-9E shou d not require
any setup changes for the existing formats.
The fo owing dia er formats are supported by the DDI-9E:
A - Si ent Knight/Ademco s ow, 10 BPS 3/1, 4/1, 4/2, non-extended format
B - Si ent Knight fast, 20 BPS 3/1, 4/1, 4/2, non-extended format
C - Si ent Knight/Ademco s ow 10 BPS 3/1, extended format
D - Si ent Knight/Ademco fast 20 BPS 3/1, extended format
E - Sescoa, Frank in, DCI, Vertex, 20 BPS 3/1, 4/1, 4/2, non-extended format
F - Sescoa, Frank in, DCI, Vertex, 20 BPS 3/1, extended format
G - Radionics 3/1, 4/2, non-extended format
H - Radionics 3/1, 4/2, non-extended with parity format
I - Radionics 3/1, extended format
J - Radionics 3/1, extended with parity format
K - Si ent Knight, Contact ID (Ademco)
Future re eases of the SYSTEM 3500/3000 may inc ude Modem SIA, Modem CFSK,
FBI Super Fast, Acron, and Ademco High Speed. The DDI-9E can decode these, but the
SYSTEM 3500/3000 cannot process these formats at this time. Digitize wi strive to
imp ement as many of these that are compatib e with the nine-digit account number
structure and the group definitions current y in p ace. Future re eases of new protoco s
wi be free of charge. The upgrades may be obtained by down oading the atest program
from our website when the formats are avai ab e.
The DDI-9E card processes dia er A arm, Troub e and Restore conditions. The SYSTEM
3500/3000 disp ays and prints the incoming DDI-9E signa s. The user can specify
Restora = Yes or No for each account number. After an a arm or troub e condition
appears, the CLEAR button wi b ink if an inva id account number comes through or if
Restora = N for that account number. In this instance the operator can hit the CLEAR
button when the ight is b inking and the condition wi be c eared. If the dia er has a
restora feature, the user wou d se ect Restora = Y, and the dia er wou d send a restora
automatica y.

CALL ID - Area Code -Phone Num er
Date - Time
If the Ca er ID information is being b ocked by the ca ing party, the fo owing
information wi print:
CALL ID - Blocked
Date- Time
If the ca ing party is out of the Ca er ID service area, the fo owing information wi be
printed:
CALL ID - Out of Area
Date - Time
Information regarding Ca er ID avai abi ity in your area can be obtained from your oca
te ephone carrier.
1.2 CONTACT ID
The Contact ID account number wi be a nine-digit number. For examp e, 123401008,

zone/contact/point, etc. number.
Leading zeros wi be eft b ank. For examp e, on account 234 the Contact ID account
number may be 23401008.
When adding an account number to the SYSTEM 3500/3000, you can assign it to any
group (i.e. 1 –8). The group fie ds are not used when receiving a Contact ID account. If
an existing 3x1, 4x2 etc. account switches to Contact ID, you on y need to program the
user text messages for the new account numbers. Note: You can use WIN3000 to simp y
renumber the account and use the same message.
When a Contact ID account appears on the disp ay, you wi get the Contact ID info as
the first screen. Both zone specific and generic messages wi work with the Contact ID.

DDI-9E INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL
DIGITIZE, INC 700236-0001 REV. A 1-3
1.3 MEM-ID
The Contact ID messages wi be stored in a MEM-600 type IC abe ed “Contact ID.”
This EEPROM can be p aced in the next avai ab e socket on the memory card. If you
have a system with a fu card and the ast MEM-600 is not used at this time, you may
