Remote Control
NOTE: Ifthereplaceturnsonoroffwithoutinput
from the hand held remote or does not respond
  tothehandheldremotecontrol,seesectionA.
  RemoteControlInitialization.Iftheunit
continues to operate erratically contact
  customerserviceasanewhandheldwitha
  differentfrequencymayberequired.
 TheOptiamereplaceissuppliedwitharadio
 Frequencyremotecontrol.Thisremotecontrolhas
 arangeofapproximately50feet(15.25m),itdoes
 nothavetobepointedatthereplaceandcan
 passthroughmostobstacles(includingwalls).Itis
supplied with one of 2,178 independent
 frequenciestopreventinterferencewithother
 units.Thefrequencydesignationisindicatedon
 thebackofthetransmitter(FIGURE1).

Theremotecontroloperatesthereplacelevelssequentially.Thelevel
isincreasedeverytimetheOnbuttononthetransmitterispressed.The
replacecanbeturnedoffatanypointbypressingtheOffbuttonon
theremotecontroltransmitter.
Level1:Theameeffectisturnedonandtherstredindicatorlightis
 activated.
Level2:Theameeffectremainson,theheaterisactivatedtothelow
 heatsetting,andtherstandsecondredindicatorlightsare
 activated.
Level3:Theameeffectremainson,theheaterissettothehighheat
 setting,andallthreeredindicatorlightsareactivated.

Resetting The Temperature Cutout Switch
Theheateronthisreplaceisprotectedwithasafetydevicetoprevent
overheating.Shouldtheheateroverheat,anautomaticcutoutwillturn
theheateroffanditwillnotcomebackonwithoutbeingreset.Itcan
beresetbyswitchingtheMainPowerSwitch(FIGURE3)toOffand
waiting5minutesbeforeswitchingittoOn.Theremotecontrolwill
needtobere-initialized.(Seepage3)

Maintenance
WARNING: Disconnectallpowercomingtoreplaceatmainservice

Light Bulb Replacement
Lightbulbsneedtobereplacedwhenyounoticeadarksectionofthe
ameofwhentheclarity.Therearefourbulbsunderthelogsetwhich
generatetheamesandembers.
NOTE: Allowatleastveminutesforlightbulbstocooloffbefore
 touchingbulbstoavoidaccidentalburningofskin.
Helpful Hints
Itisagoodideatoreplacealllightbulbsatonetimeiftheyarecloseto
theendoftheirratedlife.Groupreplacementwillreducethenumber
oftimesyouneedtoopentheunittoreplacelightbulbs.Longlife
bulbsarerecommendedtoreducethefrequencyofbulbchanges.
Bulb Requirements: Quantityof4clearchandelierorcandelabra
 bulbswithanE-12(small)socketbase,60wattrating.Example:

  1. Opensteelcurtain(remove

  2. Removetwoscrewsonlog
   bracketandremovelogplate

  3. Pullrearedgeofemberbedup
   andforwardbygraspingember
   bedbythesides(handlethe
   logsetonlybytheemberbed
and not the logs) and pulling
   solidlyuntilthereartabpops
   outfromunderthebackledge,
   thenliftout.(FIGURE5)

inanyofthe50StatesoftheUSA(andtheDistrictofColumbia)except for Hawaii and
Alaska.Thislimitedwarrantyappliestotheoriginalpurchaseroftheproductonlyand
isnottransferable.
Products excluded from this limited warranty
Lightbulbsarenotcoveredbythislimitedwarrantyandarethesoleresponsibility
oftheowner/purchaser.ProductspurchasedinYukonTerritory,Nunavut,Northwest
Territories,Hawaii,orAlaskaarenotcoveredbythislimitedwarranty.Products

Dimplexreplacesurrounds(mantels)andtrimscoveredbythislimitedwarranty
havebeentestedandinspectedpriortoshipmentand,subjecttotheprovisionsof
thiswarranty,Dimplexwarrantssuchproductstobefreefromdefectsinmaterialand
workmanshipforaperiodof1yearfromthedateofrstpurchaseofsuchproducts.
Thelimited2yearwarrantyperiodforproductsotherthanreplacesurrounds(mantels)

andtrimsandthelimited1yearwarrantyperiodforreplacesurrounds(mantels)and
trimsalsoappliestoanyimpliedwarrantiesthatmayexistunderapplicablelaw.Some

What Dimplex will do in the event of a defect
Intheeventaproductorpartcoveredbythislimitedwarrantyisproventobedefectivein
material or workmanship during (i) the 2 year limited warranty period for products other
thanreplacesurrounds(mantels)andtrims,and(ii)the1yearlimitedwarrantyperiod
forsurrounds(mantels)andtrims,youhavethefollowingrights:
Dimplexwillinitssolediscretioneitherrepairorreplacesuchdefectiveproduct•
 orpartwithoutcharge.IfDimplexisunabletorepairorreplacesuchproductor
 part,orifrepairorreplacementisnotcommerciallypracticableorcannotbetimely
made, Dimplex may, in lieu of repair or replacement, choose to refund the
 purchasepriceforsuchproductorpart.
Limitedwarrantyservicewillbeperformedsolelybydealersorserviceagentsof•
 Dimplexauthorizedtoprovidelimitedwarrantyservices.
For products other than surrounds (mantels) and trims• , this 2 year limited
 warrantyentitlesthepurchasertoon-siteorin-homewarrantyservices.
 Accordingly,Dimplexwillberesponsibleforalllabourandtransportation
 associatedwithrepairingorreplacingtheproductorpartexceptasfollows:(i)
 chargeswhichmaybeleviedfortravelcostsincurredtotraveltothepurchaser’s
 sitewheretheproductislocatedifthepurchaser’ssiteisbeyond30miles(48
 km)fromtheclosestservicedepotofDimplex’sdealerorserviceagent;and(ii)
 thepurchaserissolelyresponsibleforprovidingclearaccesstoallserviceable
 partsoftheproduct.
For surrounds (mantels) and trims• , this 1 year limited warranty does not entitle
 thepurchasertoon-siteorin-housewarrantyservices.Thepurchaseris
 responsibleforremovalandtransportationofthesurrounds(mantels)andtrims
(and any repaired or replacement product or part) to and from the authorized
 dealer’sorserviceagent’splaceofbusiness.On-siteorin-homeservicesfor
