QUICK START INSTALLTION GUIDE FOR PORSCHE CR1 & CR2 RADIOS

Requirements
PORSCHE CR1 and Cr2 RADIOS
Introduction
Those adamant about keeping their vehicle’s stock radio, we offer a simple
upgrade that allows the factory radio to support new technology. The IL-CR12
allows Porsche CR-1 & CR-2 cassette radios in the 911, 944, 964, 968, 993 to
charge and play music files from Apple’s latest iPods, iPhones and Tablets
including iPhone 6s, 6+, 7, 12+etc. Because this adapter connects directly to the
radio “CD” port. The factory CD changer (if present), must be disconnected.
Installation
WARNING: Although not critical, we recommend disconnecting the car battery.
Keep in mind all CR-1/2 radios are coded and will not operate without the code.
Radio code must be available for radio to operate upon reconnection. Skip this
step if code is not available.
Radio removal required to gain access to connectors.
1. Remove trim ring and ensure both tabs are centered at which point
radio is pulled from dash (grasping the cassette opening provides
some leverage) or push from rear.
2. If vehicle has a CD changer, disconnect 13-pin plug (See. Fig. 1) from
radio socket
3. Connect adapter 13-pin plug to “CD” socket on radio (See Fig. 2)

4. Run/route Lightning plug (See Fig. 3) to desired location on dashboard,
glove box, console etc. (within 4 ft. of radio). Use caution to not cut,
pinch or crimp the cable during this step.

5. Secure lightning cable in a location away from heat, humidity, moving
parts, or sharp metal objects. Damage to lightning plug may occur if
subject to abuse.
Operation
1. Turn ignition and radio “ON”
2. Connect Apple IOS device to lightning plug
3. Apple device should begin charging
4. Press “CD” button on radio.
5. Select music track using device built-in controls.
WARNING: Playlist and Track selection is *NOT* possible from the radio
You must use IOS device built-in controls to access music files
6. Audio device should now be heard on car speakers
7. If successful go ahead and reinstall radio
Important:
1. Vehicle must have a CR-1 or CR-2 radio. Porsche CD-1, CD-2 and CD-3 radios do
not apply.
2. CD changer (if present) must be permanently disconnected.
