These instructions apply to the GarageVac™ (hereinafter referred to as the “unit”). The unit is designed and intended for
installation and use in household or mobile applications.
These instructions will ensure the unit is properly serviced.

Polarization instructions for models with
120 volt cord only.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, these
appliances have a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). This plug will
t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does NOT t fully in the outlet, rotate
the plug 180°. If it still does NOT t, contact
a qualied electrician to install the proper
outlet. Do NOT change the plug in any way.
When using an electrical vacuum cleaner, basic
precautions should ALWAYS be followed. Read all
instructions BEFORE using this appliance.
To reduce the risk of injury or death due
to re or electric shock:
1. DO NOT leave appliance when plugged in. Un-
plug from electrical outlet when NOT in use and
before servicing.
2. DO NOT use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
3. NEVER operate this vacuum cleaner without a
dust bag and lter in place.
4. CLOSE attention is necessary when used by or
near children. Do NOT allow unit to be used as
a toy.
5. USE only for intended use as described in this
manual. Use only the manufacturer’s recom-
mended attachments and dust bag.
6. DO NOT use with damaged cord or plug. If ap-
pliance is NOT working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or fell into wa-
ter, contact InterVac for examination and repair.
7. DO NOT put any object into openings. Do NOT
use with any openings blocked; keep free of
dust, lint, hair and any other material that may
reduce air ow. If the secondary lter becomes
dirty, rinse in warm water or replace with a new
lter. Filter should be completely dry before us-
ing.
8. TURN off all controls before unplugging.
9. DO NOT pull or carry by cord, do NOT use cord
as a handle, and do NOT close a door on the
cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or cor-
ners. Do NOT run over cord. Keep cord away
from heated surfaces.
10. DO NOT unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug,
grasp the plug, NOT the cord.
11. KEEP hair, loose clothing, ngers, and all parts
of body away from any openings and all moving
parts.

16. DO NOT place objects against the vacuum
cleaner. Keep area clear.
17. DO NOT step on the hose or pull the hose forc-
ibly.
18. DO NOT pick up large objects such as waste pa-
per or cloth, which may clog the hose.
19. DO NOT install this vacuum cleaner in an area
exposed to high temperatures.
20. INSTALL this vacuum cleaner in a dry place.
21. DO NOT attempt to service the vacuum cleaner.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
A. Wood or Block Wall Installation
1. To reach with GarageVac hose as far as pos-
sible, choose a wall or surface that is located
close to the garage door and has an electrical
outlet within reach of the 5 foot electrical cord.
2. Tape paper template (pg. 11) against mounting
surface and use a level for alignment, keeping
the vacuum cleaner bottom 3" minimum above
the oor. See FIG. 1.
3. Center punch all of the keyholes very accurately
with an awl or nail.
4. Install the #8 wood screws into the wall. Keep
the screw heads 1/8" from the wall surface or
use concrete anchors.
5. Without the tool caddy attached to the Garage-
Vac, slide the 4 holes on the back side of vacuum
cleaner over the screw heads and push down.
If vacuum cleaner is loose on the screws,
remove vacuum and tighten screws.
6. Remove the GarageVac from the wall and at-
tach the tool caddy by sliding the “dove tails” on
the bottom of the caddy into the grooves on top
of the unit. You will hear a click when the pin on
top of the housing clicks into the corresponding
hole on the tool caddy. See FIG. 2.
7. Install the GarageVac with the tool caddy onto
the screw heads as described in step 5. If need-
ed install an additional screw through the top
hole in the tool caddy.
8. Place the hose retainer on the front of
GarageVac by rst attaching the double-sided
tape to the retainer, matching the radius on
each. "Warning" has to be legible in the upright
position. The retainer will not t upside down.
9. Before plugging in the electrical cord, check to
be sure the vacuum cleaner bag and motor lter
are installed. See Operating Instructions (pg. 8).
Never use vacuum cleaner without
dust bag or motor lter in place.
B. Drywall Surface Installation
1. To reach with GarageVac hose as far as pos-
sible, choose a wall or surface that is located
close to the garage door and has an electrical
outlet within reach of the 5 foot electrical cord.
2. Tape paper template (pg. 11) against mounting
surface and use a level for alignment, keeping
the vacuum cleaner bottom 3" minimum above
the oor. Align the template so that 2 vertical
center points of the template are aligned over
the centerline of a 2x4 stud behind the dry-wall
for additional stability. See FIG. 1.
3. Center punch all of the keyholes very accurately
with an awl or nail. Carefully remove template
from the wall and place with the manual for fu-
ture reference.
4. Using a 3/32 drill bit, pre-drill all 4 holes.
5. Use a 5/16 drill bit to enlarge only the 2 holes
that go through the dry-wall without stud sup-
port. These are the holes that require 2 drywall
anchors.
6. Squeeze the two arms of the plastic anchor to-
gether and insert through the hole. Very lightly
hammer the anchor ush with the dry-wall sur-
face.
7. Insert the red pushpin and push rmly to toggle
the anchor open behind the dry-wall. Remove
the red pushpin.

8. Attach four #8 screws through the marked key-
holes. Keep the screw heads 1/8” from the wall
surface.
9. Without the tool caddy attached to the Garage-
Vac, slide the 4 holes on the back side of vacuum
cleaner over the screw heads and push down.
If vacuum cleaner is loose on the screws,
remove vacuum and tighten screws.
10. Remove GarageVac from the wall, and attach
the tool caddy by sliding the “dove tails” on the
bottom of the caddy into the grooves on top of
the unit. You will hear a click when the pin on top
of the housing clicks into the corresponding hole
on the tool caddy. See FIG 2.
11. Install the GarageVac with the tool caddy onto
the screw heads as described in step 9. If need-
ed, install an additional screw through the top
hole in the tool caddy.
12. Place the hose retainer on the front of the
GarageVac by rst attaching the double-sided
tape to the retainer, matching the radius on
each. “Warning” has to be legible in the upright
position. The retainer will not t upside down.
13. Before plugging in the electrical cord, check to
be sure the vacuum cleaner bag and motor lter
are installed. See Operating Instructions (pg. 8).

C. Wand Holder Installation
1. Choose a location that is close to the GarageVac
and leaves room above and below for the alumi-
num telescoping wand with oor tool attached.
2. Wood surface uses the 2 screws supplied with
the wand holder package.
3. Dry-walls uses two 1-1/2 long screws from the
fastener package.
The wand holder should be mounted
against a wall stud for additional strength.

A. Installing Dust Bag
1. Remove the vacuum cleaner door by pushing
the door latch up. See FIG. 2.
2. Push the new bag onto the door’s scoop shaped
pipe as far as possible. See FIG. 3.
3. Slide bottom of bag into vacuum cleaner cavity,
and then place bottom of door in the front panel
slots.
4. Tuck in the left and right corners of the bag so
the door can close. Close the door, and then
push the latch up. When it is in place, the door is
sealed and the vacuum cleaner is ready for use.
B. Connecting and Disconnecting Hose
1. Lift up the inlet valve cover on the front door
panel. See FIG. 2.
2. Insert hose with a slight twist motion in either
direction.
3. Removal of hose is done with a twist motion in
either direction, while pulling outward.
C. Starting and Stopping Vacuum Cleaner
1. Start the vacuum by pushing the switch to the
“O” position.
2. Stop the vacuum cleaner by pushing the switch
to the “I” position.
D. Full Bag Removal
1. When removing a full bag, reverse the installa-
tion procedure from "B. Installing Dust Bag".
Accidental spilling of the contents of the
dust bag can be prevented by leaving it at-
tached to the door. Carry both door and dirt
bag to the trash receptacle, where the dirt
bag can be removed. After every fth bag
clean or change the motor lter. See "E.
Changing Motor Filter".
E. Changing Motor Filter
1. Remove the door with the dust bag.
2. Remove the motor lter from the bottom of the
vacuum cleaner cavity. See FIG. 4.
3. Install the new motor lter. Tuck in the corners
so that the lter lays at on the grid in the cavity.
Clean the dirty motor lter by washing in
mild soap by hand. Do not machine wash.
Let lter air dry completely before replac-
ing.

A. If Your Motor Stops, Check the Following
1. Vacuuming large amounts of dust or other
household dirt (ne dust, etc.) can block the
pores of the dust bag rapidly even if the dust
bag is new.
2. The vacuum hose could be clogged. Check by
holding the hose up in one hand and dropping
a quarter into the hose. If the quarter doesn’t
come out the other end, then it is clogged. See
“B. Cleaning of the stretch hose”.
3. The vacuum tool could be clogged.
4. The motor lter is dirty and should be cleaned or
replaced. See "E. Changing Motor Filter" under
Operating Instructions (pg. 8).
B. Cleaning the Stretch Hose
1. Lift the hose up on both ends and place liquid
dish washing detergent into both ends.
2. While holding the vacuum cleaner stretch hose
ends in the up position, use a garden hose ll
with water.
3. Lift ends of vacuum cleaner stretch hose up and
down loosening the dirt.
4. Stretch the hose as far as possible (two people
required), and rinse the dirt out with the garden
hose.
5. Repeat process until hose is clean.
6. Allow vacuum cleaner hose to dry completely
before use, up to 24 hours.

A. Dometic Limited Two-Year Warranty
THE SELLER NAMED BELOW MAKES THE FOLLOW-
ING WARRANTY WITH RESPECT TO THE DOMETIC
PRODUCT:
1. This warranty is made only to the rst purchaser
(herein after referred to as the “Original Pur-
chaser”) who acquires the product for his own
use and is installed and operated within the con-
tinental United States and Canada.
2. This warranty will be in effect for two years from
the date of purchase by the Original Purchaser.
It is suggested that the original purchaser retain
a copy of the dated bill of sale as evidence of the
date of purchase.
3. This warranty covers the entire unit as well as
parts, all of which shall be free from defects in
material and workmanship under normal use.
This warranty does not cover conditions unre-
lated to the material and workmanship of the
product. Such unrelated conditions include, but
are not limited to: (a) damage not reported within
the rst seven (7) days of ownership; (b) failure
to follow Sellers instructions for use of product;
(c) any accident to or misuse of any part of this
product and any alteration by anyone other than
the Seller or its authorized representative; (d)
any non-Dometic parts that are installed as re-
placement parts will void any warranty (implied
or written).
4. In order to obtain the benets of this warranty,
the original purchaser must contact Dometic/In-
terVac for troubleshooting the product by email-
ing [email protected] or calling toll
free 1-888-499-1925 to receive exact instruction
on how to return the product which is found de-
fective.
5. Any item returned in the manner described in
paragraph 4 will be examined by the Seller or the
Authorized Dometic Service Center. If it is found
that the returned item was defective in material
and workmanship, the Seller or the Authorized
Dometic Service Center will repair or replace the
product per the terms outlined in paragraph 4 or
refund the purchase price paid (choice of rem-
edy to be at Seller’s sole discretion). CONFIRM
THE SERVICE AGENCY IS AN AUTHORIZED
DOMETIC SERVICE CENTER. DO NOT PAY
THE SERVICE AGENCY FOR WARRANTY
REPAIRS. SUCH PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE
REIMBURSED.
6. The Seller does not authorize any person or
company to create any warranty obligations or
liability on their behalf. This warranty is not ex-
tended by the length of time which you are de-
prived of the use of the product. Repairs and re-
placement parts provided under the terms of this
warranty shall carry only the non-expired portion
of this warranty.
7. In no event shall either seller be liable for inci-
dental or consequential damages. This includes
any damage to another product or products re-
sulting from such a defect. Some states do not
allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, so the above limita-
tions may not apply.
8. Any implied warranty, including the implied war-
ranty of merchantability and tness for any pur-
pose, is limited to the duration of this limited war-
ranty. Some states do not allow limitations on
how long an implied warranty can last, so the
above limitation may not apply.
9. THIS WARRANTY GIVES SPECIFIC LEGAL
RIGHTS; YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER
RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO
STATE. No action to enforce this warranty shall
be commenced later than ninety (90) days af-
ter the expiration of the warranty period. Claims
must be submitted in writing to the Dometic War-
ranty Department for arbitration.
10. The Seller reserves the right to change the de-
sign of any product without notice and with no
obligation to make corresponding changes in
products previously manufactured.
