FOR THE RAPID SHRINK 100 (RS-100) HEAT TOOL
100

INTRODUCTION
The Rapid Shrink 100 (DS-RS100) Heat Tool is a propane red device to heat our premium
shrink wrap lm. It is self-igniting, lightweight, and economical compared to other heat tools
on the market. The Rapid Shrink 100 heat tool is ideal for beginners to experts and has an
output 100,000 BTUs.
WHAT’S INSIDE
The Rapid Shrink 100 heat tool kit includes:
1. Heat Tool Body
2. 25’Propane Hose
3. Adjustable Regulator
4. Carrying Case
5. Safety Glasses & Gloves
6. Training Literature
The Rapid Shrink 100 (DS-RS100) operates with an open ame. It must be used with caution
and common sense. Review all of the general safety information prior to initial use.
IMPORTANT:
1. This tool must never be used while under the inuence of drugs or alcohol.
2. It must never be pointed at other living beings.
3. Do not look down the combustor of the DS-RS100 when it is attached to the propane hose.
4. Always wear long cu safety gloves and safety glasses while operating the tool.
5. Misuse of this device can result in serious injury.
BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE:
1. Inspect hose before each use for breaks or weakened spots.
2. Always shut o valve at tank when leaving the gun unattended for any length of time.
WARNING:
Please note that the shrink wrap you will be heating with the DS-RS100 can burn unless you are
specically using ame retardant shrink wrap. If heat is applied incorrectly, shrink wrap can
ignite into open ame. It can also drop down onto other combustible material and cause
secondary ignition and re. If at any time you observe the shrink wrap on re, immediately stop
what you are doing and carefully inspect the area where you are working for a possible re. Keep
a re extinguisher available at all times. Do not shrink wrap if the wind is over 10 mph.
Two types of tanks are commonly available: liquid withdrawal and vapor withdrawal. It is
crucial to use the vapor withdrawal type. Never try to run the gun on a liquid withdrawal tank.
Using a liquid withdrawal tank will clog the orice lter and may result in an extremely
dangerous long ame.
Tanks are available in 6, 8, 10, 20, 30, and 40 lb. sizes. The gun will run on a 6 lb. tank if used
only intermittently. Larger tanks should be chosen for continuous use. Smaller or nearly
empty tanks ice up faster than large, full tanks.Typically, a full 30 lb. tank, if run continuously,
will run 90 minutes before it ices up. If the production rates demand continuous use, the
following methods may be employed: Multiple tanks. Switch the gun from one tank to anoth-
er; Fan. An ordinary desk fan at the tank. The air ow around the tank will keep it from
icing up.

CONNECTIONS:
Connect the gun, hose and regulator to the tank using a wrench to tighten the ttings which all
have left hand threads.
START-UP:
After all connections are made and checked for leaks, the gun is ready for use. Turn regulator
rmly down clockwise, then turn back one turn counter clockwise. (Pressure will increase by
turning the regulator clockwise, and will decrease by turning counter clockwise). Open the tank
valve. Wait approximately 5 seconds to fully pressurize the hose. To start the gun, squeeze the
trigger slowly all the way until the igniter res with an audible click. CAUTION GUN WILL
IGNITE.
NOTES:
1. It is important to squeeze the gas trigger slowly. If the gas trigger is squeezed too quickly,
the igniter will re the spark plug before the gas mixture gets there.
2. Should the gun fail to re fully, release the trigger fully to assure that the igniter is reset and
repeat the starting procedure.
The majority of the problems arise from using a liquid withdrawal instead of a vapor withdraw-
al tank. CHECK THIS ITEM FIRST.
Valve screw not adjusted properly Without depressing the trigger, turn
valve adjustment screw clockwise till
gas is releasing. Then turn the screw
back 1/4 turn.
Trigger not depressed fully Depress trigger all the way until igniter
res with a click.
Handle activated too quickly Squeeze trigger slowly to make sure
mixture has entered combustor before
ring.
Pressure too low Check Regulator.
Trigger not released fully Release the trigger to make sure the
igniter is reset.
Defective igniter or connections Check for spark. Call for service options.
