Viewing Surfaces & Descriptions
M1300
The perfect matt white diffusing surface. Extremely broad light dispersion and spectral uniformity.
Panoramic viewing angle and true color rendition. Recommended for use with any type of projector in
rooms where the light level can be reasonably controlled. Washable. In a dedicated home theatre this
surface provides the logical choice. Available on all permanently tensioned and tab-tensioned screens.
HiDef Grey
A grey front projection surface that provides greater contrast and black reproduction than standard
surfaces, with a lower gain to handle today’s super-bright projectors. HiDef Grey is designed with a
low gain of 0.9 to meet the demands of today’s high-output video projectors. The grey color enhances
color contrast and black levels in the projected image and also allows for more ambient light in the
audience. Available on all tab-tensioned screens and in sizes through diagonal HDTV (select
models), and permanently tensioned screens through diagonal HDTV.
AT1200 & AT Grey
Draper exclusives, AT1200 and AT Grey are the most innovative and versatile acoustically trans-
parent screen materials available. Both surfaces are woven, not perforated. This revolutionary advance
allows the viewer (and listener) to position the center channel speaker directly behind the screen—
the optimum location for full range audio performance. AT1200 and AT Grey have the sound
transmission characteristics of high quality speaker grille cloth. See page 13 for more details.
AT1200 provides a uniform gain slightly superior to the standard one-gain material. AT Grey has
a lower gain, 0.8, for use with even the brightest projectors. They are washable, flame and mildew
resistant. Available on motorized screens and in sizes through diagonal HDTV (select models),
and permanently tensioned screens through diagonal HDTV. Not recommended for screens
smaller than wide when used with LCD or DLP projectors.
Fiberglass Matt White
A matt white vinyl reflective surface laminated to tear-resistant woven fiberglass. Matt white diffuses
projected light in all directions, so the image can be seen from any angle. Provides accurate color
rendition as well as superior clarity. Recommended for use with all high light output projection
devices. Requires control of ambient light in the audience area. Washable, flame and mildew
resistant. Now available seamless in all standard sizes through diagonal HDTV. Larger sizes
available with inconspicuous seam through diagonal HDTV.
High Contrast Grey
Grey textile-backed surface offers excellent resolution while enhancing the blacks of LCD and DLP
projected images, even as whites and lighter colors are maintained. Performs well in ambient light.
Lower gain of . allows use with even the brightest projectors. Available on most non-tensioned
motorized and manual screens; seamless in all standard sizes through diagonal HDTV. Larger
sizes available with inconspicuous seam through diagonal HDTV.
M2500
A high-contrast front viewing surface with excellent resolution and high gain. Outstanding black
retention: ideal for data-graphics projectors producing up to 1000 ANSI lumens. M2500 tolerates a
significantly higher ambient light level than most other front projection screen surfaces. Available on
all permanently tensioned and tab-tensioned screens.
Cineflex
A neutral grey vinyl for rear projection. Cineflex has high resolution and excellent contrast,
even in lighted rooms. For use with any type of projection equipment.
* Gain charts depict gain values at various points, measured in degrees from projection axis. Gain is a measure of brightness as compared
to a block of magnesium carbonate, which serves as a standard for gain of 1.0. The charts also help in judging uniformity. The flatter
the curve in the portion of the viewing cone where viewers will be seated, the more consistent the image they will perceive.

Access Screen Series
• Access/Series V & Series E
Attention architects, interior designers, building contractors, homeowners, Draper dealers
and especially installers: The Access Screen Series is now even more ideal for home
installations! We’ve shortened the height of the case and redesigned the hanging brackets—
making it easier to put the projection screen in just the right place.
Aside from these modifi cations, the Access Screen Series is still the great product you know
and demand.
The Access Screen Series is Draper’s thought ful so lu tion to the problems that have plagued
pro jec tion screen buyers for years. In cor rect size of screen or aspect ratio, choice of sur face and
job site damage during con struc tion—all can be avoided with the Access.
Case Now/Screen Later—The essence of the Access con cept is a ceiling-re cessed, ex trud ed-
alu mi num head box. The screen itself (view ing sur face and mo tor ized roller) can ei ther be
fur nished with the case or at any time thereafter. The Access or Ultimate Access screen
itself in stalls in min utes, and the only tool you need is a hex key.
Access Case
Easy Installation—Easy Access
It’s easy to see why the Access is so popular. Designed with solutions in
mind, the case features include:
• Redesigned hanging brackets that slide in channels on top of the
case, allowing unlimited adjustment to avoid interference with
confl icting structures above the ceiling. ❶
• A pre-wired junction box inside left end (of audience side) and a
cable exit hole on top. ❷
• Redesigned case with a smaller overall height. White fl ange around
the pe rim e ter of the case sup ports ceil ing tile or trims out rough
ceiling opening. ❸
• “Pin connector” electrical connection of screen to internal
junction box eliminates tools. ❹
• Bottom of case that forms a slot for fabric passage and is removable without tools
for installation or replacement of screen. ❺
The screen (motor-in-roller with fab ric at tached) comes with easy-to-install latch ing brack ets.
Latch ing brack ets slide along a track inside the top of the case, so the case can ac com mo date
differ ent sizes of screens. A large case al lows for maxi mum fl exibility.

Need to install a projection
screen in front of a window?
Draper has a new approach to the problem of
projection screens in front of window openings.
With the Access Dual Roller FlexShade, you
can have a motorized window shade that covers
and seals the window light, plus a Series E
projection screen with your choice of format and
viewing surface, both in the same recessed Ac-
cess headbox. See page 28 for more information.

Ultimate Access Series
No other projection screen gives you so many benefits. Experience the
rewards of installing the headbox while the ceiling contractor is on site, and
supplying power to the pre-wired junction box inside. The screen (motor-
in-roller with attached viewing surface) can be ordered, shipped and stored
independently of the headbox, and popped into place at a future date. This
eliminates job site damage. Want to update the format or type of viewing
surface as technology changes? The Ultimate Access Series gives you that
flexibility without extra electrical or ceiling work.
Flange trims the opening of any type of
ceiling. Plus, the independently motorized
ceiling closure disappears into the case when
the screen is lowered. When the screen
retracts into the ceiling, the closure quietly
returns to the closed position. Hinges are
completely concealed, and the closure is
supported for its entire length—no sag is
possible. Available in all projection formats
up to 12 wide.

What are Acoustically Transparent Surfaces?
Draper exclusives, AT1200 and AT Grey are the most innovative and
versatile acoustically transparent screen materials available. Both surfaces
are woven, not perforated, thus reducing light loss and pixel loss. And with
virtually no loss of sound quality, this revolutionary advance allows the
viewer (and listener) to position the center channel speaker directly behind
the screen—the optimum location for full-range audio performance.
With more than 76,000 microscopic openings per square foot, AT1200 and
AT Grey have the sound transmission characteristics of high quality speaker
grille cloth, with less then 6% light loss. Both of Draper’s acoustically
transparent screen materials allow audio and video to interact seamlessly,
creating the ultimate home theatre experience.
AT1200 provides a uniform gain slightly superior to the standard one-gain
material. AT Grey has a lower gain, 0.8, for use with even the brightest
projectors. AT1200 is white in color; AT Grey is grey, providing for higher
contrast. They are washable, flame and mildew resistant. Available on
motorized screens in sizes through diagonal HDTV (select models),
and permanently tensioned screens through diagonal HDTV. Not
recommended for screens smaller than wide when used with LCD or
DLP projectors.
Acoustically Transparent Surfaces
AT1200 & AT Grey Why Use an
Acoustically Transparent Screen?
When installing a home theatre
system, the proper set up for the
sound system ensures the highest
quality results. The ideal position
for the main speaker is behind
the screen on the same level as
the right and left speakers. This
maintains—
• Quality sound localization
for the dialogues and overall
sound effects.
• Movie Theatre quality that
is true to the original sound
mixing engineering.
• The ability to use identical
speakers due to space
restrictions and avoids
interference with other objects
on the fl oor or ceiling.

and summarizes the average and
maximum screen insertion loss (IL)
for each screen sample, as well as
the band in which the maximum
IL occurred. These results are valid
for third-octave bands between 100
and 20,000 Hz.

Permanently Tensioned Screens
Onyx
The new generation of permanently tensioned screens begins with the Draper
Onyx. You won’t find a more “user friendly” screen anywhere else on the market.
You can have a beautifully framed image hanging on the wall in just 10 to 15
minutes, with one or two people assembling. Its wide beveled, extruded
aluminum frame interconnects on site. Each side piece slip-fits tightly to
injection molded plastic corners, forming perfectly mitered edges.
A radical new approach to fabric attachment will amaze even the toughest of
critics. No snaps! Uniform tension is applied to the entire surface area. Includes a
feature to adjust the sag out of the fabric as time and gravity relaxes the viewing
surface. Permanent wall mounting brackets included.

The wide black frame absorbs projector “wash”. You may also add the
optional velvety black Vel-Tex® to the frame to eliminate reflections.
Choose your viewing surface: M1300, M2500, HiDef Grey, AT1200,
AT Grey or Cineflex. Offered in all projection formats up to a
maximum custom size of wide.

Atlanta, Georgia.
The primary advantage of permanently tensioned projection screens is the perfectly flat viewing surface they provide—just the ticket for the
ultimate home viewing experience. Plus, these screens are light weight, easy to install and virtually maintenance free.

Clarion
We’ve redesigned the Clarion to simplify installation. The Clarion’s self-
concealing aluminum frame now forms an attractive border, for a clean,
theatre-like appearance. The wide beveled, extruded aluminum frame
interconnects on site. Permanent wall mounting brackets included.
M1300, M2500, HiDef Grey, AT1200 and AT Grey are the viewing surface
choices. Any custom size is available up to diagonal HDTV. Overall size,
including frame, equals image area plus . Black aluminum is the standard
frame finish. Cover the frame with optional velvety black Vel-Tex® to
eliminate reflections.
ShadowBox Clarion
The ShadowBox Clarion is
simply designed: the fabric is
stretched and attached to the back
side of a ½ tubular aluminum
frame. The visible black frame
serves as the perimeter border
around the image area. Many
home theatre designers use the
ShadowBox behind elaborate
draperies or build the screen into
custom cabinetry. ShadowBox
Clarion is custom made using
M1300, M2500 or HiDef Grey
front projection surface. Cineflex
rear projection vinyl is also available. Offered in all projection formats
up to 12 wide. Cover the frame with optional velvety black Vel-Tex®
to eliminate reflections.

Cineperm
Cineperm, Draper’s most economical permanently tensioned screen,
consists of a tubular aluminum frame with a snap-on viewing
surface. The viewing surface conceals the frame completely with
black borders on all sides. Because the snap heads and the border are
exposed, the Cineperm appears less “finished” than other permanently
tensioned screens. However, the Cineperm is the perfect screen for
custom applications involving a cabinet enclosure or the Draper
Eclipse Screen Masking System.
Cineperm is offered with your choice of AT1200, AT Grey, M1300,
M2500, HiDef Grey or Cineflex surfaces, in all projection formats.
WrapAround Style Clarion
The viewing surface on a
WrapAround Clarion literally
wraps around the aluminum
frame and attaches to the back
side, making the frame invisible to
the audience. While the absence
of borders may be somewhat less
functional, many architects and
designers prefer the look. The
WrapAround Clarion is custom
made using M1300, M2500 or
HiDef Grey viewing surface in
all projection formats up to a 12
wide image area.

the Eclipse/H masks
it to a NTSC format (4:3). When the Eclipse/H operates, the left and
right masking sections roll down together from the top, supported by a
horizontal steel slat bar. Sizes available up to 132 wide unmasked image area
in any projection format.
Eclipse/V
The Eclipse/V changes the screen
format by masking from the top
and bottom simultaneously. The
screen’s width remains constant.

Luma
Luma 2
RoadWarrior, Traveller & Piper
Portable Screens
All three of our portable models are lightweight, easy to carry and simple to set up. The main dif-
ferences are in the mechanism that holds the screen upright, and the sizes in which they are available.
Each model can sit on the
fl oor or table. They are
equipped with enough
black “rise” below the view-
ing surface to clear a coffee
table and most theatre-style
seating.
RoadWarrior—has a
clean, simplifi ed design.
The sleek, high-tech ap-
pearance of this product
makes it a natural for
entry-level home theatres.
Pneumatic cylinders hold
the screen securely at
the desired height. The

Traveller—is similar to
the RoadWarrior yet
lighter in weight. A tele-
scoping upright supports
the screen at desired height.

diagonal. Also available in
fi ve NTSC sizes.
Piper—is our newest por-
table projection screen and
a breeze to set up: lift the
upright, choose its height
and raise the screen.

portable screens with dam-
age-prone Mylar, Draper’s
high-quality, low-cost Piper
has a tear-proof fi berglass
matt white viewing surface
with black borders and 30˝ of
black “rise” below the image
area. During storage and
transportation, the telescop-
ing upright collapses and
clamps to the back of the
matt black extruded alumi-
num case.
A single push-button unlocks
the screen, which can be eas-
ily raised with one hand, and
its handle serves to secure the
screen on the gooseneck of the upright.

Cinescreen®—
Diffusion Rear Screens
A transparent substrate, either glass or acrylic,
with a permanently bonded diffusion medium.
The diffusion medium distributes projected light
and creates a uniform high-resolution repro-
duction of the projected image. Cinescreen,
Draper’s diffusion rear screen, is unique among
rear screens, because its diffusion medium
consists of both an optical coating and an optical
tint—each formulated for specific requirements.
The advantages of diffusion screens are superior
clarity of image and availability in extremely
large sizes. This characteristic can be an advan-
tage in a room with a tiered seating pattern.
Draper’s Cinescreens differ from any other
rigid rear projection screens in two extremely
important respects. Cinescreen optical coat-
ings are inherently abrasion resistant. No other
manufacturer offers you this protection.
Rear-Projection Screens
Draper offers several distinct types of rigid rear projection screens—traditional diffusion and optical screens,
holographic screens and exclusive IRUS technology. Let us help choose which one’s right for your system.
Only Draper offers you a choice of six different
optical coatings, each available in your choice of
three unique optical tints. With a Draper Cine-
screen, you can select the optimum combination
of optical coating and tint based upon your
projection equipment, audience seating pattern,
desired contrast level, screen aspect ratio, ambi-
ent light level and aesthetic considerations. Only
Draper offers you this versatility.
Draper uses the finest plate glass and clear
acrylic as Cinescreen substrates. Virtually iden-
tical optical qualities.
• Cineglass®—Recommended for maximum
sound isolation, scratch resistance and service
life. Weighs approximately twice as much as
acrylic, breaks more easily, must be installed by
a glazier.
• Cineplex®—Lightweight, durable and break
resistant acrylic. Easier to install. Requires more
care in cleaning, as acrylic scratches more easily
than glass. Less soundproof than glass.
DiamondScreen™—
Optical Rear Screens
Made of cast acrylic, incorporating a Fresnel
lens on the projector side that gathers the
light from the projector and refracts it directly
through the screen. Draper’s DiamondScreens
are the first rear projection screens designed
specifically for video and data projection. With a
DiamondScreen, you can expect the brightest
rear screen image in the world—3.5 gain on
axis. DiamondScreens have a panoramic
180° horizontal viewing cone and the largest
vertical viewing cone of any product of its
type. The High Contrast grey optical tint
provides superior color contrast, and its anti-
reflectance properties give superior performance
even under conditions of high ambient light.
DiamondScreens feature superior corner-to-
center brightness, with no “hot spots.”
Draper custom size Cineplex, HDTV, ¼ acrylic screen with Cine 10 optical coating and Neutral Grey optical tint. Complete with a factory
installed System 100 black-finish frame. Design, installation and photography provided by OPTech.net, Williamsburg, Virginia. Recipient of a
2004 Stanley Award. Voted Best Video Room by Tidewater Builder’s Association.
