SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
FILTRATION PUMPS
1. Ensure all electrical connections are
securely made to the correct terminals.
2. The electrical cable (and extension
cable if used) should be adequately
protected from damage. For
permanent installation with a mains
supply, it is necessary to comply with
the regulations of your local electricity
authority.
3. Your attention is drawn to the fact that
special rules may exist for pumps
intended to be used in or at garden
ponds and similar places. If in doubt
on any electrical aspects, consult your
local authority or a qualified
electrician.
4. Close supervision is necessary when
any pump is used by or near children.
5. To avoid injury, do not contact moving
parts or hot parts such as heaters,
reflectors, lamp bulbs, and the like.
6. Always unplug a pump from an outlet
when not in use, before putting on or
taking off parts, and before cleaning.
Never yank cord to pull plug from
outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to
disconnect.
7. Do not use pump for other than its
intended use.
8. Do not install or store the pump where
it will be exposed to temperatures
below freezing.
9. Make sure a pump mounted on a tank
is securely installed before operating
it.
10. If an extension cord is necessary, a
cord with a proper rating should be
used. A cord rated for less amperes or
watts than the pump rating may
overheat. Care should be taken to
arrange the cord so it will not be
tripped over or pulled.
11. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
When removing the pump from the pond - DO NOT PULL THE PUMP FROM THE POND
BY ITS ELECTRICAL CABLE.
IMPORTANT
For your safety, a Residual Current Device
(RCD) also known as a Residual Current Circuit
Breaker (RCCB), with a tripping current not
exceeding 30mA must be installed in the
supply circuit.
CONNECTING YOUR PUMP TO THE POWER SUPPLY: (230V ONLY)
To eliminate the possibility of an electric shock, your pump has been fitted with a BS
approved, non-rewirable moulded plug and cable which incorporates a fuse, the value
of which is 3 amps. Should the fuse need to be replaced, an approved BS1362 fuse
must be used of the same rating, marked thus . The fuse cover is detachable, never
use the plug with the cover omitted. If a replacement fuse cover is required, ensure it is
of the same colour as that visible on the pin face of the plug (i.e. red). Fuse covers are
available from your Draper Tools stockist.
If the fitted plug is not suitable, it should be cut off and destroyed. *The end of the
cable should now be suitably prepared and the correct type of plug fitted. See below.
WARNING:
A plug with bare flexible wires exposed is hazardous if engaged in a live power socket
outlet.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
Green and Yellow - Earth, Blue - Neutral, Brown - Live.
As these colours may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the
terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the
plug which is marked with the letter ‘E’ or by the earth symbol or coloured green
or green and yellow.
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter ‘N’ or coloured black or blue.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter ‘L’ or coloured red or brown.
EXTENSION LEAD CHART:
Extension lead sizes shown assure a voltage drop of not more than 5% at rated
load of tool.

Important: Disconnect from the mains supply before carrying out any
maintenance procedures.
This filtration pump has a watertight syncronus motor, so requires only a small amount
of maintenance.
1. The pre-chambered filters and rotor should be cleaned every week, or when the
water flow drops excessively.
Important: If the filters are not kept clean/clear, then pump failure may occur. This is
not covered by the guarantee.
2. To clean the sponges, grip the pump and turn it completely so that the bottom is
upwards. Remove the support base ✭✌ (FIG 3) by pressing the four clamps ✮✌
located in the area of the feet; take out the two sponges ✯✌ housed in the pump and

using a stiff brush to remove scale deposits.
