DSG Technology VG7000 User manual

VG7000 Digital Gateway allows DSG IP-PBX to connect with ISDN and TCP/IP network and adopt E1 or T1 trunk
services. VG7000 needs to be installed in clean, dry, adequately ventilated areas. Please always use ESD-preventive
tools when you plug or unplug the power cord.

The default IP settings of VG7000 are as follows. You might need to change its IP address to conform to your
network requirement.
yDefault IP: 192.168.1.202:89 (Service Port: 89) yDefault Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
yDefault Gateway: 192.168.0.254 yDefault Password: 1234
Settings on InterServer: Add License Key and Digital Gateway
1. Select a PC which is able to connect to InterServer. Launch the web browser and on the address bar, input
your InterServer’s IP address (the service port is 88) to access your IP-PBX system.
2. Click the Administrator icon and then login with your user name and password.
3. Be sure you have the appropriate License Key. Go to Main Menu>Operation Management>General
Information. Click the Add button to set your License.
4. Go to Main Menu>Gateway Configuration>Digital Line Gateway. Click Add to increase a Digital Gateway.
yName: Enter a name to describe this Digital Gateway.
yMAC Address: Enter the MAC address of the Digital Gateway. You may find it from the device label.
yTrunk Number: Enter the available trunk numbers you may use or purchase.
yCO Line per Trunk: Input the available channels of each trunk. For example, input 32 for E1 or 24 for T1.
yCO Line Extension Base: Input the starting number of CO Line extension number. The CO Line extension
numbers will be assigned automatically. For example if you set “4000” for an E1 port, the associated
extension numbers will be 4000-4031.
yJitter Buffer: From “Jitter Buffer Depth” drop down menu, depending on your bandwidth and CODEC,
start with a Jitter Buffer with the minimum value.
yOff-Premises and IP address: For Off-Premises Gateways, you will need to select the check box and enter
its “IP Address”. A real (public) IP address is required for Off-Premises Gateways.
yQoS: If your network supports QoS, click the check box to activate this function.

VG7000 Digital Gateway Quick Installation Guide

1. Rack Mount Placement: In addition to placing VG7000 on a desktop, you may mount it to a rack. Attach one
rack mounting bracket on each side of the device front panel and secure each bracket with the provided
screws.
2. Connecting Power Cord: Plug one end of the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of VG7000
and plug the other end of the power cord into a power outlet.
3. Connecting to LAN: You need to connect VG7000 to your existing Ethernet network. Connect an Ethernet
cable from the network RJ45 port on VG7000 to any 10/100BaseT RJ45 port on a switching hub.
4. Connecting Trunk Cables: Attach a cable from DSC/CSU equipment provided by your carrier or a PBX’s
T1/E1 interface if you prefer to set a tie line to a T1/E1 interface on VG7000.

Login to VG7000 Digital Gateway
1. Choose a browser-enable PC on LAN where the VG7000 is located. Change the computer’s IP settings to
conform to VG7000’s default settings, if necessary.
- Default IP Address: 192.168.1.202:89 (service port: 89)
- Default Gateway: 192.168.0.254
- Default Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
2. Launch the web browser. On the address bar, type the default IP address http://192.168.1.202:89.
3. You will be connected to the Administration website. Click the Login icon and log in using the default
password “1234”.
DGMonitor Program
Digital Gateway Monitor is a software program which can display real-time system status. It also provides log files
and event logs allowing you to analyze the connection and transmission status.
1. Login to VG7000. Click the Download Monitor icon to download and save the program to your computer.
2. Extract the setup.zip file and you will get setup.exe file.
3. Double click on the setup.exe. The DGMonitor will be installed automatically. When completes, you will find
it from Start>Programs>DSG>DGMonitor and a shortcut on your desktop.
4. Log in with your VG7000’s IP address, user name and password. The default user name is
“Administrator”and cannot be changed. The password is the same as the one you log in to VG7000.
5. After you logged in, you will see the trunk status and logs.
