Reversing polaritieswill damage the batteriesand possiblyyourset. Besureto
followpolarity(+and -)asindicated.
Donotmixdifferenttypestogether(Alkaline,Carbon-Zinc,Nickel-Cadmium etc.),
orold batterieswithnewones.
When notin useforan extended period of time,orwhile internal batterieswill not
be used,removethem topreventpossibleacid leakage orcorrosion resulting in
damage toyourplayer.
When the batterieshavebecome discharged,theymustbe disposed ofin asafe
mannerthatcomplieswithall applicable laws.
Installation ofbatteriesshould onlybe done byan adult(forsafety).
ALKALINEBATTERYLIFE
Bearin mind thatbatterylifeexpectancyisbased upon volume and bass listening
levels.Maximum batterypowerconsumption happensatmaximum settings.Typical
lifefor2size “AA”alkaline batteriesisabout11hoursofcontinuousCD playand 5
hourslongerforradio use.
NOTE2: Youmay userechargeablebatteriesonthisset.However,because
rechargeablebatteriesgenerallyhavelowervoltage (1.2voltsinstead of1.5
volts).Yourplaying timewillbemuchlessthannormalfreshalkalinebatteries.

WhileCDisplaying,ifthealkalinebatteriesareweakordischarged,thissymbol “”
showsorflashesinthedisplay,thenthepowerautomaticallyturnsoff.Ifthisoccurs,
replacebothalkalinebatteries(alsoifthe displaydoesnotshowanything,thebatteries
aredead).

Plays one song overand overtill you press STOP/OFF.
Duringplay,selectthe songyouwanttorepeatwith
eitherofthe SKIP/SEARCH buttons( or ),then
press the REPEATbutton once,the symbol REPEAT1 will
showin the display.
Thesongcurrentlyplayingwillrepeatoverandover,
until you press the STOP/OFF button.

Thisplaysthefirst10secondsofsongsin sequential

1.Duringplay,presstheREPEATbuttonthreetimes,

2.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button,the symbol INTRO will
stop flashing and the first10 secondsof each song
on the CD will playin sequential order.
3.When you find asong you like,press the PLAY/PAUSE
button,thesymbol INTRO willdisappearfromthe
display,normalplaywill be resumed,thatsong (and
the following songs)will play NORMALLY.
RandomPlay
Thisplays the songson the disc in arandom order.
1.During play,press REPEAT button fourtimes,the
symbol RND will flash.
2.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button,thiswill playall ofthe
songsin random orderselectedbytheCDplayer.
The symbol RND will stop flashing.
3.Press theSKIP/SEARCH button ,toskip tothe
nextrandomsong.

When the setissubjecttoashock orabump during play,the
datastoredinmemorycontinuestobedecoded and played.
Thisgivesthepickuptime tostabilizeandcontinuereading
newmusic.Asthedataisused frommemory,theindicator
changesfrom “”to “”.Oncethepickup returnstoits
original position,newdataisstored in memoryand the display
changesback tothe “”mark.
If the setissubjecttorepeatedshocks and all the datastored
inmemoryisusedup,the “”markisdisplayedandthe
sound willskip orstop forabriefperiod until the memory
baskethastime tofill up again.
NOTE:
-The musicmaystop ifthe playerreceivescontinuousshocking.
-You mayhearnoiseorskipping ifthe CD isdirtyorscratched.
-IfyoupressSKIP/SEARCHbuttons,the memorybasketwill
emptyitselftemporarily.
Thissetisdesigned withthe latest60 second ESP PLUSTM (ElectronicSkip Protection)
-Whichallowsvirtuallyunlimited gentleskip protection abovethenormalskip
protection.
The 60 second ESP PLUSTM function willturnonautomatically
when the PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed.
When the PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed,the “”(memory
basket)indicatorwill appearin thedisplay,the digital data(music)
isstored in the “read-ahead”memorybufferbeforeitisdecoded
and played.It maytakeawhile forthe baskettofill.
The “”markchangestothe “”mark,indicating thatthe
memorybuffer(basket)isfull.
The 60 second ESP PLUSTM function preventsthe sound from skipping byusing a
buffermemorythatstoresmusicdata.The new60 second ESP PLUSTM system can
storemoremusicthannormalanti-skipsystems.

Cleaning thecabinet
Wipewithasoftcloth.Ifthecabinetis
verydirty,dampen (notdripping wet)the
clothwithaweaksolution ofsoapywater,
and then wipe clean.
Cleaning thelens
Adirtylenswill causesound skipping.If
the lensisverydirty,the playermaynot
work.Wesuggestusingaspecial
cleaningdisk(notincluded)availablein
mostmusicand Hi-Fistores.However,if
youdonothaveone,you mayusea
cotton swab veryslightlydampened with
alcohol toclean the lens.
MAINTENANCE
ToRemove theDisc
Open the CD DOORbysliding the DOOR
OPEN switch,hold the disc bythe edge
while slightlypressing onthecenter
spindle asillustrated,then lift itfrom the
edgetoreleaseandremove.
Cleaning theDiscs
Fingerprintsshould be carefullywiped
fromthesurfaceofdisc withasoft
cloth.Unlikeconventional records,
compactdiscshaveno groovesto
collectdustandmicroscopicdirt,so
gentlywiping them withasoft cloth
should removemostparticles.Wipe in
astraightmotion from the centertothe
edge.
Handling CompactDiscs
Dirty,scratchedorwarped discsmay
causeskippingornoise.
Handlethe disconlybythe edges.To
keep clean,donottouchitssurface.
Neverusethinner,benzine,record
cleanerorantistaticsprayon acompact
disc.Suchchemicalscan damageits
plasticsurface.
Discs shouldbestored in theircases
afterusetoavoid scratches.
Donotexposediscs todirectsunlight,
high humidity,high temperatures,or
dust, etc.Prolonged exposureto
extremetemperaturescanwarpthe
disc (suchasleaving the discs in your
carduringsummertime).
Donotstickorwriteanythingoneither
sideofdisc.Sharpwriting instruments,
ortheinks usedin somefelt-tip pens,
maydamageitssurface.
NOTE:
Always press the STOP/OFF button and
waitforthedisctostoprotatingbefore
slidingtheDOOROPENbutton to
removethe disc.

locations,orlocationswithlong heavy vibrations,or tilted surfaces.
Theset’scabinetmaywarporthesetmaybedamagedifitisplacedindirect
sunlight, nearheaters(where the temperature is1400F/600Cor higher) orincarswith
the windowsclosed.Inthe summer,thetemperature maygetashigh as2120F/1000C
or more.
Usethe setwithinatemperature range of410F/50Cto950F/350C.
UseONLYtheDC4.5V600mAACADAPTORwithpolarity ,othersmay
damage your set. Disconnectthe ADAPTORfromthe wall outletwhen the setisnot
tobe used for an extended period oftime(3days or more).
When cleaning your set, useasoft drycloth.Donotusesolventsor commercially
availablecleaners,astheymaydamage or discolor the finish.
Donotwear headphoneswhileoperating amotor vehicle.Thiscouldcreateatraffic
hazard and isillegalinmanyareas.Donotusethissetwhen bicycling or running.
The headphonessupplied withyour setprovide superb stereo listening whileallowing
youtohearsomeoutside soundswhen listeningatnormallylowvolumelevels.
Listening atextremelyhigh volumelevelsminimizesthe intrusion ofoutside noise/
sounds.Inthe interestofsafety,itisstronglyadvised againstthe usewhileengaging
inactivitieswhere the exclusion ofexternalsounds(whistles,horns,sirens,traffic,
etc.).Alsoloud volumecan hurtyour ears.If you noticethatthe sound hasbecome
weakor distorted or iftracks do notchange,thisisan indication thatyour batteries
are weak.Replacebothbatteriesatthesametime(see Using WithBatteries).

CONDENSATION
If cold waterispoured intoaglass,waterdropletsformon the outside ofthe glass.
Thisiscalled condensation.Condensationmayoccuron internal operating partsof
thelens.
Condensation occurs:
Whenthesetisbroughtfromthecold outdoorsintoawarmroom,orfromacold
room toaheated one,orin the summer,ifthe setismoved from an air-conditioned
room orcartoahotorhumid location.
Should condensation occur,the setmay notoperateproperly.Open the CD DOOR
and waitforabout20 minutes(toallowtheinternal partstoadjusttothe surrounding
temperature)beforeusingtheset.
