FAQ
What is WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E?
WiFi 6 is also known as 802.11ax, it features 1024-QAM, OFDMA and MU-MIMO in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
bands.
The 1024-QAM modulation increases the capacity and speed of transmission while OFDMA reduces its time,
ensuring an efficient use of the network bandwidth. The MU-MIMO allows DL-WME38 to communicate with
multiple devices at the same time.
WiFi 6E extends the functions of WiFi 6 to the 6 GHz frequency band. An additional 1200 MHz of spectrum is used
in 6 GHz band, which supports 14 additional 80 MHz channels and 7 additional 160 MHz channels. WiFi 6 itself,
only have two 160 MHz channels, and have to share the same congested channels with other WiFi devices (WiFi
4, 5, 6). Choosing a WiFi 6E device will take all advantages (gig+ speed, lower latency, and lower interference)
and have a better user experience.
How to reset DL-WME38 WiFi Router/Point to factory default settings?
A factory reset will restore all the settings to default status just as you firstly got the DL-WME38. Make sure you
have already backed up the configuration before using the process of reset to default to fix other issues. Factory
reset could be done via the reset button on the back side of the DL-WME38.

Press and hold the Reset Button for 7 seconds. You will see the SYSTEM LED starts flashing and then lights off
in a few seconds. After that, the DL-WME38 will reboot automatically. You can see all the configurations become
default status when the process is completed. In another way, you can also reset the DL-WME38 to default via
WebUI or APP. For WebUI, go to System Settings > Configuration & Reset and click the Reset to Default
button; for APP, go to Settings > Factory reset and click the Factory reset button. The DL-WME38 will
automatically start the factory reset process.

Note: If you reset the WiFi router, it would trigger entire mesh network reset, and you have to configure the mesh
network from the beginning. If you only reset the WiFi point, you can configure it again through the Dynalink APP.
What if I forgot my login password?
If you forget the default login password (you haven't changed the password before), please refer to the product
label which is located on the bottom of the DL-WME38. Use the username, password, and URL to access the
WebUI. However, if you changed the default password before, you will first need to reset the DL-WME38 to default.
All settings will be lost. Then use the default password to access the WebUI.

Does my WiFi Router/Point need to install the latest firmware?
Having the latest firmware will help improve the stability, functionality and performance of the product. The new
and latest firmware will correct the problem and add improved features to the product.
Can I change the WebUI login username "admin" of a DL-WME38?
No, it is not available. However, you can change the password to access the DL-WME38's interface.
How do I change WebUI administrative password on a DL-WME38?
You can go to WebUI or Advanced Setting on Dynalink APP and go to System Settings > Password & Timezone
to change the password of administrative.

How to find the hardware version on my DL-WME38?
Method 1.
Login to WebUI and go to System Settings > Firmware page to find the hardware version.

Method 2.
1. Launch the Dynalink APP.
2. Click the device icon of DL-WME38.
3. Click burger menu > your Account > Dynalink WiFi.
Does DL-WME38 support VPN function?
Yes, DL-WME38 supports three VPN protocols: OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP Server and Client function. VPN
function can only be configured via WebUI. Please refer to user guide for details.
Can I configure the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands to different SSIDs on a DL-WME38 main
WiFi?

For main WiFi and guest WiFi, DL-WME38 always enable band steering function, so the SSID in 2.4 & 5 GHz
bands is always the same. The mesh system will automatically determine which WiFi point and which band for
each client to use for best connection. If you have IoT devices that does not work with band-steering, you can use
IoT WiFi feature on DL-WME38.
Can I mix Dynalink DL-WME38 with mesh products from other vendors?
No, Dynalink mesh product can only establish mesh network with Dynalink Mesh(DL-WME38) itself. Also it
cannot establish mesh network with Dynalink Router (DL-WRX36). DL-WRX36 does not support mesh protocol.
What topology (Star or Daisy chain) does Dynalink Mesh support?
Dynalink Mesh supports both Star and Daisy chain topology. The mesh system will detect and determine the best
topology itself based on the signal quality between each WiFi Point and WiFi Router. Star is the preferred topology
to use because the path between each client device and WiFi Router are shortest.

You check if a specific WiFi Point is connected to WiFi Router directly or through another WiFi Point from Your
Network > Signal source as shown below.

What is the maximum number of WiFi Access Points in one Dynalink Mesh
network?
A Dynalink Mesh network can consist of one WiFi router and at most two WiFi points.
Can I use Ethernet to connect WiFi Router to WiFi Point in the mesh network?
Yes, our mesh product supported Ethernet Backhaul, but we only support one WiFi point connected to WiFi Router
LAN port via Ethernet backhaul in below topology. The feature comes handy when your house has Ethernet pre-
wiring. We do not recommend users to expand Ethernet Backhaul to more WiFi Points using an ethernet switch..

How to add a new WiFi point via Ethernet backhaul?
Just connect the LAN port of the WiFi Router to the LAN port (CANNOT use WAN/LAN port) of a DL-WME38(the 2nd DL-
WME38 need to be factory default mode). The DL-WME38 will be added as WiFi point automatically. You will see a new
WiFi point showing on the WiFi Point list on Dynalink APP and the mesh LED on the WiFi Point change to green. You can
then give the alias of this new WiFi Point.
Once a WiFi Point is added via Ethernet backhaul. When you disconnect the WiFi Point, this WiFi Point will automatically

re-connect to the WiFi Router via wireless backhaul.
How to remove a WiFi point?
You can do so from Dynalink APP. Assuming this WiFi Point is connected to WiFi Router, select the WiFi Point you want to
remove from the list and hit the Remove button. This will remove this WiFi Point from the network, and also do a factory
reset for this WiFi Point.

If the WiFi Point is not connected to WiFi Router, you can still remove it using the same method. However, you need to do
a Hardware reset to factory default for the WiFi Point. So you can use it in a different network.
Please note, if you forget to do factory reset and power it on near the same WiFi Router, it will be automatically added back
to the mesh network.
What frequency band does Dynalink Mesh use for backhaul connection?
Dynalink Mesh use 6GHz WiFi as primary connection for the wireless backhaul and 2.4GHz for backup backhaul connection.
What is purpose of IoT WiFi, what’s the difference between Main WiFi and IoT WiFi?
IoT WiFi in Dynalink Mesh is targeted for low end IoT devices which use WiFi 4 or earlier technology. IoT WiFi does NOT
enable latest protocols such as band-steering, 802.11k/v/r nor Protected Management Frame(PMF), in order to avoid
interoperability issues. So if you have IoT devices that has trouble to connect to Main WiFi, please connect it to the IoT WiFi.
Some IoT WiFi devices cannot connect to WiFi SSID or password with special characters, so we will also check and make
sure you use numbers and English letters only.
How to change a WiFi Point to a WiFi Router?
1. If the WiFi Point is connected to a WiFi Router, use Dynalink APP to remove this WiFi Point from Dynalink APP. It will be
reset to factory default after the action is done. Once this device powered up, connect its WAN port to the modem and
wait a while. Check the Internet LED of this device, once the Internet is Orange or Green, then it has become WiFi Router.

2. If the WiFi Point not connected to a WiFi Router, do a hardware factory reset. It will be reset to factory default after the
action is done. Power it off, connect its WAN port to the modem and power it on, it will switch to WiFi Router.
How to change a WiFi Router to a WiFi Point?
Use Dynalink APP to do a reset to the WiFi Router (or use hardware reset to factory default). The WiFi Router will be
switched to default mode after reboot. You can then use Dynalink APP to add this WiFi Point to another WiFi Router.
What’s meaning of status for WiFi Point?
Once WiFi Point is added to the mesh network, it will be shown on the Dynalink WiFi status list and status is shown next
to the WiFi Point alias.
If the WiFi point is powered off or disconnected, the status will be Offline.
If the WiFi point is powered on and connected to the WiFi Router, the status will be Online and you will see a signal icon.
When user changes WiFi setting or adds a new WiFi Point, the new WiFi settings will be updated to the WiFi Point, then
the WiFi Point will do a WiFi restart. When WiFi point is doing WiFi restart and is temporally disconnected from WiFi
Router, the status will be changed to Preparing. When the WiFi Point finished WiFi restart, it will connect back to WiFi
Router and change its status back to Online.

What’s the algorithm for assigning which WiFi Point and which frequency band
for a specific client device on Main WiFi?
The client device will be steered to connect to the WiFi Router directly if possible. If the WiFi Router is too far, it will
connect to the WiFi Point that is closest to the WiFi Router. The algorithm will minimize the path from client device to the
WiFi Router. So it might not always connect to the WiFi Point that’s closest to the client device.
For frequency band, all client devices will connect to 2.4GHz WiFi initially. If a client device support 5GHz WiFi, it will be
steered to use 5GHz WiFi if signal is good enough.
Do I need to register Dynalink Account in order to use DL-WME38?

You can still use DL-WME38 if you do not register, but then you can only use WebUI to configure the network and there
will be some limitations.
For network function such as WAN/VPN/Port forwarding, the settings are all available via WebUI.
For mesh function, if you do not use Dynalink APP, then you can only use Ethernet Backhaul to add WiFi Point. Once a
WiFi point is added via Ethernet Backhaul, it will connect WiFi Router via either Wireless or Ethernet Backhaul.
Also you cannot use push button WPS for IoT WiFi and physical WPS button is only for main WiFi. That IoT WIFI WPS
function is only available on Dynalink APP.
Can I change WiFi channel on DL-WME38?
For 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, we support auto channel only for initial release. The channel will be automatically decided
by the Auto Channel Selection algorithm each time we do WiFi restart or device reboot.
We use fixed 6GHz channel for initial release, default 6GHz channel is channel 33 @160Mhz, Frequency:6.115
GHz~6.275 GHz.
What is maximum number of client devices supported on each SSID?
120 clients on 2.4GHz/5GHz main WiFi, 30 clients on 6G WiFi. 30 clients on Guest WiFi and 60 clients on IoT WiFi.
What is the difference between Dynalink APP and WebUI?

The WebUI (also available on Advanced Setting from Dynalink APP) provide more network option for advanced
users, such as port forwarding, DMZ, VPN and more WiFi configuration. The Dynalink APP provide basic functions
for normal users. User can choose to use either or both methods to manage your Dynalink WiFi.
Can I use the same Dynalink APP to manage DL-WME38 and DL-WRX36 product?
Yes. All Dynalink WiFi devices use the same Dynalink APP.
Can I use the same Dynalink account to manage both DL-WME38 and DL-WRX36
products?
Yes. You can use one Dynalink account to manage up to 8 difference Dynalink WiFi products, including both DL-
WME38 and DL-WRX36.
Can I use the WPS button to add WiFi point?
No, the WPS button is only for connecting main WiFi to WiFi client devices. You need to use Dynalink APP or Ethernet
backhaul to add WiFi point.
How to use WPS to connect client devices to IoT WiFi radio?
The WPS physical button is only for connecting main WiFi to WiFi client devices. Please use the WPS button on the WiFi
Router or WiFi point that’s closest to the client devices.

For IoT WiFi, you can use the virtual WPS button on Dynalink APP to trigger connection, please also use the WiFi Router or
WiFi Point that’s closest to the IoT devices. You will see the IoT virtual WPS button once you enable IoT WiFi.
Can I use the two DL-WME38s in the package as 2 WiFi Routers, instead of one
WiFi Router + One WiFi Point?
Yes, you can use both DL-WME38 as two WiFi Routers. They can be managed under one Dynalink account or two different
Dynalink accounts.
Can I mix and match DL-WME38 from different package?

Yes, you can pick one DL-WME38 from any 3 DL-WME38 package and make a mesh network of maximum 3 x DL-WME38.
What if I cannot connect to Dynalink WiFi or login to WebUI with default password
on label?
First please check carefully the default password on the label, some words and numbers such as l vs 1 and 0 vs
o looks very similar. The format of WiFi password is [word:a-z][word:a-z][3 digit number:0-9]. So only last 3 digits
are 0-9. For example, agencyanchor153 is correct, but agencyanch0rl53 is wrong. The password format of
WebUI login is [word:a-z][2 digit special char][3 digit number:0-9], for example, bakery#$123 is correct, but
bakery#Sl12 is wrong
If you are sure your password is correct, but still cannot connect or login. Please do a hardware reset.
For hardware reset, please use a pin or sharp-pointed pen to press and hold on the reset button till the LED
start to blink blue, you need to hold the reset roughly 10 sec. Please note if you just punch the reset button
once, Dynalink WiFi will reboot, but not reset to default.
Please check the LED behavior carefully during hardware reset. The LED should first start to blink blue for a few seconds,
indicating it’s doing reset to default. Then the LED will become solid red, indicating it is doing power cycle. Then the LED
will blink blue for about 45 seconds, then become solid blue when system is ready. If you do not observe the exact same
LED behavior, maybe you did not press and hold the reset button long enough, and you should try it again
What if my mobile phone and other IoT devices work fine with Dynalink WiFi, but
my laptop cannot connect?
Yes, you can pick one Some Intel laptop using Intel WiFi 5 adapter is known to have interoperability issue with
WiFi 6. You can go to below Intel website to check and download the driver fix.

Please note these driver update is not part of windows update, so you need to do this manually.

What I cannot use login.Dynalink to login to Dynalink WebUI from my PC? But
192.168.216.1(default Router IP) can work?
Dynalink WiFi listens to IPv4 DNS query from your PC. When it detects login.Dynalink, it will return its own IPv4
address (192.168.216.1 or new Router IP changed by user), so your PC know where to direct the WebUI requests.
However, if you have manually setup remote DNS server on your PC/laptop, such as Google DNS or Cloudflare
DNS, then Dynalink WiFi will not detect the DNS request. Therefore, your PC/laptop cannot connect to Dynalink
WiFi.
My mobile phone is already connected to Dynalink WiFi, why Dynalink APP said it
cannot find Dynalink WiFi?
Dynalink APP user login.Dynalink DNS request to find Dynalink WiFi. Please check if you manually setup remote
DNS server (Google DNS or Cloudflare) on your mobile phone. If you do, please change DNS setting back to
default (auto), or manually add your Dynalink WiFi (default LAN IP 192.168.216.1) as your first DNS server.
Does DL-WME38 support VLAN?
DL-WME38 does not support VLAN.
Does DL-WME38 support Google Assistant?
No, DL-WME38 does not support Google Assistant voice control.
Does DL-WME38 support Nintendo Switch to use on 5GHz WiFi?
Nintendo Switch does not support full 5GHz channel, so the auto channel mechanism by DL-WME38 might not
always select a channel that Nintendo Switch supports.
