SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
TO REDUCE RISK OF INJURY : Before any
use, be sure everyone using this product
reads and understands all safety instructions
and other information contained in this
manual.
CAUTION: Wear appropriate personal
hearing protection during use. Under some
conditions and duration of use, noise from
this product may contribute to hearing loss.
WARNING: When using electric gardening
appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed to reduce risk of fire, electric
shock, and/or personal injury.
Save these instructions and review frequently
prior to use and in instructing others.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL SAFETY
REPLACEMENT PARTS–When servicing use
only identical replacement parts.
AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS-
Don’t use this product in rainy, stormy, damp
or wet locations. Do not operate in gaseous or
explosive atmospheres. Motors in these
products normally spark, and the sparks might
ignite fumes. Do not use in rain.
DRESS PROPERLY- Don’t wear loose
clothing or jewelry and wear protective hair
covering to contain long hair. They can be
caught in moving parts. Use of rubber gloves
and substantial footwear is recommended
when working outdoors.
USE SAFETY GLASSES- Wear safety
glasses with side shields or goggles that
are marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1
standard when operating this product.
USE DUST MASK - Wear face or dust mask
when operating this product.
USE HEARING PROTECTION - Wear ear
plugs or muffs when operating this product.
GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER-
(GFCI) protection should be provided on the
circuit (s) or outlet (s) to be used for this
product if you are using an extension cord.
Receptacles are available having built-in GFCI
protection and may be used.
DOUBLE INSULATION – This product has
double insulation. This means that all external
metal parts are insulated from the electrical
supply. This is achieved by introducing an
insulation layer between electrical and
mechanical parts. The double insulation
guarantees you the greatest possible safety.
EXTENSION CORD– Make sure your extension
cord is in good condition. When using an
extension cord be sure it is heavy enough to
carry the current your product will draw. An
undersized extension cord will cause a drop in
line voltage resulting in loss of power and
overheating. The following table shows the
correct size to use depending on cord length and
nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the
next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number,
the heavier the cord.
To reduce the risk of disconnection
from the extension cord during use
you can make a knot as shown. It is
also possible to tie more than one
extension cord in a knot as shown to
prevent them from becoming
disconnected during use.
POLARIZED PLUGS-To reduce the risk of
electric shock, this appliance has a polarized
plug (one blade is wider than the other) and will
require the use of a polarized extension cord.
The appliance plug will fit into a polarized
extension cord only one way. If the plug does not
fit fully into the extension cord, reverse the plug.
If the plug still does not fit, obtain a correct
polarized extension cord. A polarized extension
cord will require the use of a polarized wall outlet.
This plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the wall
outlet, reverse the plug. If the plug still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the
proper wall outlet. Do not change the equipment
plug, extension cord receptacle, or extension
cord plug in any way.

2. Loading Your Machine (See Fig 8)
• With the unit running, feed double handfuls of dry leaves or single
handful of wet leaves into the funnel (Fig. 8).
• Allow the machine sufficient time to shred the load completely and
regain speed before inserting the next handful.
NOTE:Do not overload the machine by letting it labor at low speed; this
may cause the motor to stop.
WARNING: Wear protective gloves while loading the machine. Keep your
hands away from the spinning head and the cutting lines when loading the
machine.
WARNING: Filling the mulcher with unshredded material at a rate faster than
the machine can handle may result in permanent damage to the motor. Always
wear protective glasses and adust mask.
3. Adjusting the Control Dial (See Fig 9)
The control dial regulates the particle size and speed at which material
passes through the unit. When the control dial is set in the COARSE
position, material will process through the unit faster, but will yield a larger
particle size than if the dial were set to the FINE position. The FINE position
setting will discharge the material slower, but will yield the smallest particle
reduction ratio (up to 16 : 1). MEDIUM position can be available to serve
your purpose as needed. For best results, material should be shredded
when dry.
