PRODUCT INFORMATION
EAW’s top-of-the-line, THX-approved behind-the-screen system fills even
the largest theaters with all the high-impact, full-range sound encoded
on today’s digital soundtracks, yet reproduces voices clearly and natu-
rally, from a whisper to a scream. An HK2590 high frequency system
featuring a large-diaphragm compression driver loaded with EAW’s break-
through 90°x 40°horn provides consistent coverage to the entire lis-
tening area. A BV253C vented low frequency system provides massive
bass response.
For the largest exhibition halls, the CB2592 combines two BV253C
enclosures with one HK2590.
COMPONENTS & CONSTRUCTION
The CB2590 is a two way, high-output, full range loudspeaker system
intended for use in cinema applications. It features dual 15-in low fre-
quency transducers mounted in a compact, vented enclosure for excel-
lent bass response and high output level capability. A titanium dia-
phragm compression driver mounted to a large, 2-in throat, 90o x 40o
coverage pattern, constant directivity horn assures even distribution of
high frequency information to every seat in the house. The high fre-
quency horn is attached to the low frequency enclosure by means of
an adjustable bracket allowing the horn to be aimed independently of
the LF section in both the horizontal and vertical planes.
The CB2590 requires an external active electronic crossover. The recom-
mended crossover point is 500 Hz. Input connectors for the HF section
are dual spring loaded push-button type, designed to accommodate
bare or tinned leads, with a 2-position barrier strip for the LF section.
Separate input connectors are provided for each section. Input connec-
tors for the LF section are located on the side of the enclosure for con-
venient access in cramped installation areas. HF input connectors are
directly on the compression driver.
The low frequency enclosure is constructed of 3/4-in thick Medium Den-
sity Fiberboard with the exception of the baffle which is 15-mm void-
free, cross-grain-laminated birch plywood. Extensive internal bracing is
employed to minimize panel resonances resulting from the large acous-
tical energies generated within the enclosure while maximizing acous-
tical energy transfer into the audience area. The enclosure and all ex-
ternal parts are coated with a flat black polyurethane finish. A perfo-
rated steel grill, painted flat black, is included. The LF enclosure has
3 mounting points to allow optimum front/rear positioning of the
HF section.
The high frequency horn is constructed from a specially formulated
urethane compound which is both non-resonant and lightweight. This
material's excellent moldability, rigidity and strength make it possible to
construct the complex contours of the HK2590. The adjustable steel HF
section bracket is lockable once it is positioned.
