BEFORE USE
The Echö is a portable lightweight heartbeat monitor. It is mainly used to detect the sound
of the fetal heartbeat (SFH). Always consult your physician before using the Echö. Do not
use for diagnosis purposes.
INSTRUCTIONS
INSTALLING THE BATTERY
Open the battery cover D, remove the protective wrap around the included battery
and connect it securely to the battery clip as per the below gure. Install the battery
back into the battery compartment and put the cover back on.
NOTE: When not in use, remove the battery from the Echö and store it in a cool and dry environment. This will protect both the
monitor and the battery.

PREPARING THE SURFACE
In a sitting position or laying down, remove any clothing on your belly to be directly on the
skin.
1. You can use the Echö on dry skin or, for a better experience, you may use some
Ultrasound Transmission Gel or a personal lubricating gel which reduces the static
caused by moving the monitor around on the belly. Baby oil, coconut oil, virgin olive
oil or petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline) also work well.
STARTING THE ECHÖ AND LISTENING TO BABY’S HEARTBEAT
1. Power On the Echö with the On/Off/Volume control E . The Power indicator light F
will turn on to indicate the Echö is on.
2. Hold the monitor to your heart rst to test it. (Your heartbeat is easier to distinguish
compared to the baby’s heartbeat). Refer to the Troubleshooting section if you are
not sure it is working.
3. After checking that the Echö is working properly,
hold it to your abdomen to listen to your baby’s
heartbeat. The baby’s heart sounds like a galloping
horse at approximately twice the maternal rate. A
wind-like sound will be heard from the placenta.
Between 8 to 16 gestational weeks it is possible to
hear your baby’s heartbeat if conditions are optimal
but you may not be able to detect it that early on.
After the 16th gestational week you should have no
problem nding the heartbeat. As the baby grows,
the heartbeat becomes stronger and it will be easier
for you to detect it. Look at the gestational chart
below where you should be able to nd your baby’s
heartbeat as it grows each week.
NOTE: We do not recommend to use of colored gels or lotions. Caution: Be sure not to get gel into the area around the
On/Off/Volume knob as this could damage the Echö.

WEEKS
NOTE: Keep in mind that each mother and baby is different so not being able to detect the heartbeat early is not a reason
for concern. If you are not able to detect the baby within 10 minutes, it is recommended to take a break and to try again
in the next few days. However, if you are concerned about any issues relating to your pregnancy you should contact your
healthcare provider for assistance.

9
Echö EN
4. Move the Echö very slowly to nd the optimum placement based on the baby’s
current position.
5. After the heartbeat is detected, adjust the volume E to a comfortable level and
enjoy.
6. After you are done listening, turn off F the power and gently wipe the probe B
clean.
NOTE: We recommend keeping the session to less than 10 minutes at a time. While the Echö is considered safe for
“continuous use” by regulatory bodies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we recommend limiting use
in short intervals, infrequently and primarily after the rst trimester. The Echö is NOT intended to be used for diagnostic
or medical purposes and is not to be used as a substitute for regular prenatal care by a licensed doctor. Contact your
healthcare provider for assistance if you are concerned.
RECORDING
• Connect the Computer Recording Cable to the Echö using the USB Mini plug C
and connect the other end to a recording device. Recording devices could be your
computer using the microphone jack or any external recording equipment using the
audio in jack. You can use a basic free recording software that usually comes with
your computer or available online.
• Another way to get a recording is to connect the Echö to an external audio speaker
and then use your smart phone or tablet to record a live video. Then you can share
the video with your loved ones right from your phone.
• You may also record the mother’s heartbeat at the same time and keep this
recording to play it to soothe your newborn baby at daycare and at home.

MAINTENANCE
The transducer is fragile and must be handled with care. Please check that the Echö
does not have visible signs of damage that may affect user safety ormonitoring capability
before use.
• Carefully inspect the equipment for physical damage.
• Examine the case, connectors and accessories making sure every part is clean and is
not cracked or damaged in any way.
• After the visual inspection, if the Echö and/or its accessories are damaged,
replacement is needed.
• Before cleaning, turn off the Echö E, disconnect the earphones Aand the
recording cable Cand remove the battery.
• If gel is used, clean it from the transducer probe Bwith a soft cloth. You can
disinfect the probe by wiping it with 70% ethanol or alcohol wipes and then drying
with a soft dry cloth.
• Do not use abrasives, solvents, bleach, steam or high temperature cleaning
processes to sterilize the Echö as any of these can damage it.
• Do not immerse in water or other liquids to clean the Echö.
• Do not disassemble the Echö.
• Checking the battery level
NOTE - The Echö requires no calibration.
TROUBLESHOOTING
What appears to be a malfunction may not always be serious. If your Echö does not
perform as expected, consult the table below to see if the problems can be corrected.
If you are unable to resolve the problem, contact bblüv Customer Service at
1-855-808-2636 or by email at [email protected]
NOTE: Make sure to always test the Echö with your own heartbeat rst to make sure it is working correctly

EN Echö
Q: Uncomfortable noise is coming through the earphones
A: Interference can be caused by nearby electronic devices (e.g. high frequency
electronics, cell phones, cordless phones, etc.). Also, when you can hear some slight
noises occur when moving the probe from one location to another, you might need to
apply some more gel. You can also install a new battery, a weak battery can cause noise.
Q: How soon can I hear the baby?
A: We recommend to use the Echo after the 16th week of pregnancy. Before this time,
there are a lot of variables which may no let you hear your baby yet, such as the position
of your placenta. Keep in mind that the baby is still tiny before 16 weeks of gestation. The
Echö works more like a laser pointer than a oodlight in that you will hear the baby when
it is perfectly lined up. If you are off slightly you’ll miss the baby’s heart and wont hear
anything. As the baby grows every week, you will be able to nd the baby’s heart rate
more easily.
Q: I’m nding it difcult to nd baby’s heartbeat after 16 weeks
A: First check to see if you can hear your own heartbeat to be sure the Echö is working
correctly. If you can not hear your own heartbeat, you should troubleshoot before
attempting to locate the baby’s heartbeat. Move the probe very slowly around
your abdomen to make it easier to nd the optimum placement to hear your baby’s
heartbeat. The baby can sometimes be located behind the placenta making it difcult to
nd. You might not have found the optimum placement of the probe to hear the baby’s
heartbeat, take a break for a day and try again. Don’t apply too much pressure to your
abdomen.
Q: The battery cover doesn’t stay closed
A: When putting the battery back into the Echö, run the wires down the right side between
the battery holder and the inside wall with the clip end of the battery towards the On/Off/
Volume E knob. This allows the battery to sit lower in the compartment, so the battery
cover D will close easier and more completely.
