Make sure you have the following:
1. Edirol R09 MP3/WAVE Recorder
2. Power cable and power adapter
3. SD memory card (this should be inserted at bottom of record under panel)
4. 2 x AA batteries (if not using mains power)
5. USB cable

A. Connect power cable to power adapter
B. Connect plug to power source
C. Connect power to side of recorder
If using batteries:
A. Open bottom panel by sliding it away from recorder until it stops. Press, hold and slide battery release
button to left and then slide bottom panel away from recorder again
B. Insert batteries
C. Close bottom panel

Note: This is not recording but in 'Standby mode'. In this mode you can check your levels
