The City Ranger 3070 is a Danish designed and manufactured product, which offers a very exible
way of maintaining outdoor areas.
Optimal use of your City Ranger 3070 Salt and sand spreader
To ensure optimal performance of your City Ranger 3070 Salt and sand spreader, please read
this manual carefully before using the machine. Failure to do so can result in personal injury and
damage to the machine.
Safety
The Salt and sand spreader is equipped with various devices to ensure optimal operational
safety, both for the user and the surroundings. We ask you to pay particular attention to
section 1.1 Safety. The machine must only be serviced by professionals.
The Salt and sand spreader is designed only for use by professionals. On delivery, the user will
receive thorough training to become a competent operator.
Do not lend the machine to anyone who has not been thoroughly trained and has not read this
manual carefully.
The operator’s manual should be considered as a permanent part of the machine and must remain
with it if the machine is sold.
Warnings
Some items in this operator’s manual are marked with this warning symbol. The warning
indicates areas where extra care has to be taken to avoid personal injury or damage to the
machine and its accessories. The warning also shows what you should pay special attention to.

Introduction
The Egholm Salt and sand spreader is a sturdy
machine that keeps slippery paths out of your
way!
The Salt and sand spreader is made of robust
components. The spreader plate is extremely
hard wearing and can handle salt, sand and
gravel of 8 mm.
The Salt and sand spreader ensures precise and
uniform spreading – and even thawing of the
ground, for example cycle paths, pavements or
parking areas. It is manually set, depending on
weather conditions and driving speed, spreading
only the sand and salt that is needed.
The spread width can be adjusted from 1–6 m.
An optional cover to stop material from getting
wet is available.
The Salt and sand spreader is supplied with
a specially-developed stand that makes it
very easy for one person to t or remove the
attachment.
Useful tips
Make sure the snap couplings are clean before
attaching, as this protects the hydraulic system.
Daily cleaning and maintenance will extend
the lifetime of both the machine and the
attachment.

1.1 Safet y
Avoid roll-overs
Do not drive the machine in a place
where it can slide, tip or roll with any
attachment. Use the machine on
a solid and regular ground. Do not
drive on slopes with an incline of
more than 5°.
The following situations are known
to cause more instability in the
machine and care should be taken
by the operator to assure safe
operation:
– Abrupt steering.
– Manoeuvring with speed, on a
slope and/or with weight in a Salt
and sand spreader at the rear.
– Manoeuvring the machine on an
irregular ground.
– Low tyre pressure. (Picture 2)

Carry out the assembly or
disassembly of an attachment on a
at and stable ground only!
Avoid standing close to the
machine while it is in use
Make sure that no one is near the
machine while it is in use as there is

1.1 Safety - continued
Beacon must be turned on
While working on public roads, the beacon must be turned on in order to warn the
approaching trac.
Danger of ying objects
During operation, no people or animals are allowed within 5 m around the vehicle.
Special driving and steering characteristics of the vehicle
The vehicle speed must be adapted to the weather and trac conditions.
Risk of crushing in the swivel area
Maintenance and installation work must be carried out when the machine is stationary
and the hydraulic system is not under pressure.
Risk of infection and/or injury from escaping hydraulic oil
Hydraulic oil can cause skin rashes and other health problems. Even a ne stream
of oil can penetrate the skin and cause serious injury. In this case, consult a doctor
immediately.
The hydraulics should only be connected when the vehicle is stationary and the hydraulic
system is not under pressure and the engine is shut off.
Avoid eye injuries
Wear eye protection when checking the spreading width of the spreader
plate.
Destruction of the hydraulic hoses by pinching or rubbing against the structural
parts
When connecting the hydraulic hoses, make sure their installation is kink and abrasion
free.

In addition to these operating instructions, the generally applicable and specic local regulations
concerning accident prevention and environmental protection, as well as the accident prevention
regulations of the Agricultural Trade Association must be followed.
The machine must be checked before each use for any visible damage and the functioning of its
safety devices.
Unauthorized modications to the machine and its safety devices are prohibited and exclude any
liability of the manufacturer.
Bypassing or otherwise disabling the safety devices is prohibited.
All general safety instructions and warnings on the machine must be kept in a legible condition.
When the Salt and sand spreader is tted, this operator´s manual must always be kept in the cab of
the machine.
Refer to the operator’s manual for the snow removal attachment (Section 1.1 Safety) for safety
precautions when using a snow removal attachment.
Possible environmental pollution
• Do not spill any hydraulic oil.
• Take precautions to clean up any spilled hydraulic oil.
• The handling and disposal of hydraulic oils are subject to legal provisions.
Only persons with special knowledge and experience in the eld of hydraulics are allowed to operate
the hydraulic devices.
Regularly check the hydraulic hoses for leaks. They must be replaced at regular intervals, even if no
defects are present. (See the Section 3.1 Service and Maintenance chart in the Operator´s manual
for the City Ranger 3070 Basic machine).

2.1 Adjusting the stand
The stand is, together with an adaptor, used to
attach and de-attach the Salt and sand spreader
from the Basic machine.
Attention
The Spreader must be emptied for
material before dismounting.
If using a forklift, there can be material
in the Spreader.

2.2 Assembly
Attention
Carry out this operation on at and
stable ground only.
Fitting of the Salt and sand spreader
1. Position the Salt and sand spreader behind the
Basic machine.
2. Push the Salt and sand spreader in over the
Basic machine, or lock the support wheels and
reverse the Basic machine in under the Spreader.
3. Turn off the engine.
4. Carefully lower the hopper onto the loading
panel by using the ratchet load carrier. The
Spreader must not fall directly into the groves.
Push the Spreader forward, so it slides in the lock
grooves. (Picture 2)
5. Connect the hydraulics, using the hydraulic lock
handle. (Picture 3)

2.3 Alternative Assembly
1. By using a forklift you can mount the Spreader
on the Basic machine. Here an extra pairs of eyes
will be handy. (Picture 1)
2. Aligne the Spreader over the Basic machine.
Lower the Spreader onto the Basic machine.
(Picture 1)
3. Push the Spreader forward, so it falls in the lock
grooves. The Spreader must not slide directly into
the grooves. (Picture 2)
4. Connect the hydraulics, using the hydraulic lock
handle. (Picture 3)

2.4 Disassembly
Attention
The Spreader must be empty when
removed using the stand.
Carry out this operation on at and
stable ground only.
Engine must be turned off.
1. Unlock the hydraulic handle (Picture 1)
2. Attach the adapter on the stand. Place the
stand behind the spreader and connect the hooks
onto the spreader. (Picture 2+3)
3. Use the ratchet load carrier to lift up the
Spreader. (Picture 4)
4. Remove the Spreader from the Basic machine
or drive the Basic machine away. (Picture 5)

Transportation
Always raise the spreading unit at the rear into
transport mode before transportation.
Unlock the lower spreading unit. (Picture 1)
Swivel the spreading unit up, until it locks.
(Picture 2+3)
Note:
When spreading Gravel
To reduse wear and tear, the stirrer needs to be
stopped.
Remove the frontcover and loosen the clutch
(6 nuts). (Picture 4)
Remember to engage the clutch if material is
changed to sand or salt.
With the spreading unit in transportation mode,
its possible to make a quick emptying of the tank.
See section 2.7 for quick emptying. (Picture 3)

Always stop the machine and shut off
the main switch when working on the

Salt stop
When spreading vacuum salt or very ne dry
sand it is necessary to use a salt stop in the tank
to secure the salt stays in the tank when not
spreading.
The salt stop is available from Egholm dealers:
Egholm part no. E56000505.
Warning
Before installing the salt stop make
sure the machine is stopped and the
main switch is shut off.
Installing the salt stop
1. Remove the Salt and sand spreader side
covers. (Picture 1)
2. Remove the salt spreader top lattice. Loosen
wing nut, press the lattice back end down and
forward. Its now possible to lift up the lattice and
remove it. (Picture 2)
3. Loosen and remove 2 screws in each side of
the tank. (Picture 3)
4. Turn the stirrer to make it possible to mount the
salt stop above the auger.
The stirrer has a straight side, this makes it
possible to place the salt stop down into the
auger. (Picture 4)
Re-mount the 4 screws in the tank together
with the salt stop. Remount the Salt and sand
spreader side covers.
