SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

button.Thisisnormalandensuresthedesiccantwheelisdrainedofwater.Avoid
restartingthedehumidifierunitunless5minuteshavepassedsincebeingturnedoff.
• Neverusethemainsplugasaswitchtostartandturnoffthedehumidifier.Usethe
providedON/OFFswitchlocatedonthecontrolpanel.
• Alwaysplacetheunitonadryandstablesurface.
• Theapplianceshouldnotbeinstalledinalaundryorwetroomwherethehumidityis
higherthan85%RH.Thisunitshouldbeoperatedatanambienttemperaturebetween
1°Cand32°C.

•Donotdrylaundrydirectlyabovetheunit.Topreventwaterenteringthedehumidifier,
laundryshouldbeplacedatleast40cmawayfromyourdehumidifier.
•Donotplacetheunitnexttoheatsources(e.g.electricalfires,fireplaces,etc.)
• Desiccantdehumidifierstendtoabsorbodoursfromthesurroundingenvironmentlike
cigarettes,cooking,cosmetics,newfurnitureetc.Thissmelldescribedasaburningor
soursmell.Thisreleasedduringoperationasthezeolitediscisheatedduring
operation.Thisisnotsignofafaultandthesmellwillfadewiththetime.
•Donotstoreorusegasoline,petrol,paint,solventsorotherflammablevapoursand
liquidsinthevicinityofthisdehumidifieroranyotherappliance.Donotuse
dehumidifierswhereflammablegasesorVOCcanbereleasedoraccumulate.
EnergySavingandUnitSafetyProtectionTips
•Donotcoverorrestricttheairflowfromtheoutletorinletgrills.
•Formaximumperformancetheminimumdistancefromawallshouldbe20cmandit
shouldbekept50cmfromobjectswithintheroom.
• Keepthefiltersorgrillsoftheunitclean.Undernormalconditions,filtersorgrillsshould
onlyneedcleaningonceeverythreeweeks(approximately).Donotusetheunitwithout
themeshairfilterasthiswillallowdirttogatherinsidethedehumidifierandcould
invalidatethewarranty.Adirtyfilterwillrestricttheairflowintothemachinewhichwill
increasetheresistanceonthefanandcouldresultindamageandmightinvalidatethe
warranty.
Sincethefiltersremoveairborneparticles,morefrequentcleaningmaybenecessary,
dependingontheairquality.Vacuumandwashthemeshfilterswithhotsoapywater
anddrythembeforeplacingthembackintheunit.

environment.Thedesiccantdehumidifiersareidealbothatstandardandlowtemperaturesworkingon
ambientrangeofbetween1Ͳ32϶C.ElectrIQdesiccantdehumidifiersarelightandeasytomove,as
theydonotcontainaheavycompressor.Theyalsoworkintelligentlyastheyaredesignedtoextract
unwantedhumiditywhilesavingmoneyduetotheiradvancedpowersavinglogic.Theyfeaturean
intelligentdigitalhumidistatwithvariablehumiditysettingsat40%,50%,60%,70%RHensuringyour
roomisnotdriedtoomuchandpowerisnotwasted.TheEDD8Lalsofeaturesapowerfullaundrymode
andasleepmodegivingtheusertheabilitytoselectmaximumdehumidification,orquieteroperation.
INSTALLATION
Removeanywaterfromthewatertankbeforestartingtheunit.Inordertosaveenergy,donotopen
windowsordoorswhiletheunitisrunning.Placetheunitonahard/flatsurface.Wewouldadvisethe
unitisruncontinuouslyfor24hrsonitsfirstuse.
Toreducenoiselevels
Placeapieceofcarpetorarubbermatundertheunittoreduceanyvibrationswhiletheunitisrunning.
ForminimumnoiseruntheunitinSleepmode.

Theredlightwillflashwhenthewatertankrequiresemptying,orwhenthewatertankisnot
correctlylocatedwithintheunit
OnIndicator
GreenLight–Indicatestheunitisonandtheheatingelementisworking
RedFlashingLight–AntiTipsensor,detectingtheunitisnotupright.Iftheunithasbeen
tippedortilted,donotuseforatleast24hourstoallowittodryout.
FanSpeedButton
Usedtoselectthefanspeed,thecurrentspeedisindicatedbytheLEDLightsabovethe
button.
SLEEP–Theunitwillruninlowfanspeed,withalowerheat,ensuringtheunitrunsasquietly
aspossible
STANDARD–Theunitwillrunatmediumfanspeed,withthehighheatsetting
TURBO–Theunitwillrunathighfanspeed,withthehighheatsetting
Note:Oncetheairhasreachedthedesiredhumiditysetting,theheaterwillstop,butthefanwillcontinue
tooperateatthesetspeedforashortperiodthentheunitwillstop,resumingoperationafter30minutes
whenwillcheckhumidityagain.Ifhumidityintheroomis<settargetthanthedehumidifierwillgoto
standbyforanother30minutes;otherwiseifhumidityintheroomis>settargetthenthedehumidifierwill
startdehumidifying.Thisprocessensureenergysavingswhilemaintainingthesethumidity.
LaundryMode
Thismodeisidealforcreatingagreatenvironmentfordryingclothes.Theunitwillworkfor
8hourscontinuouslywiththedesiredhumiditysetat40%beforerestingfor30minutes.The
unitwillthencheckthehumidityoftheroom.Ifitisabove40%theunitwillworkfor
another8hoursbeforerepeatingtheprocess.Ifthehumidityoftheroomisfoundtobe
below40%,theunitwillrestforanother30minutesbeforerecheckingthehumidityofthe
room.TheLEDabovethebuttonislitwhenLaundryModeisselected.
HumidityButton
ThisAllowstheusertoselectthedesiredhumidityfortheroom.Thebuttonshouldbe
repeatedlypressedtocyclebetweenthedifferentoptionsCO(ContinuousMode),40%,50%
60%or70%RH
PleaseNote:After8hoursoftheheaterrunningcontinuously,theunitwillrestfor30minutesbefore
resumingthepreviouslyselectedoperation.
TimerButton
WiththeunitTurnedOn–RepeatedlypresstheTimerbuttontoselectinhowmanyhours
timeyourequirethemachinetoturnoff.ThenumberofhoursisdisplayedontheDisplay
Window
WiththeunitTurnedOffͲRepeatedlypresstheTimerbuttontoselectinhowmanyhourstimeyou
requirethemachinetoturnon.ThenumberofhoursisdisplayedontheDisplayWindow
Thetimercanbedeactivatedonceset,byrepeatedlypressingthetimerbuttonuntil00isshownonthe
DisplayWindow.

SMARTMode
Thismodeensureminimumhumaninterventionandmaximumsavings.Smartmodesetsthe
desiredhumidityfortheunitto55%RHwhichistherecommendhumidityfornormal
households,andadjuststhefanspeeddependingonthecurrenthumidityoftheroom,
followingthetablebelow.
Above70%UnitwillruninTURBOmode
Between55%and70%UnitwillruninSleepMode
Lessthan55%Unitstopsfor30minutesbeforerecheckingroomshumidity.Willnotrestart
untilhumidityisabove55%
AirpurificationMode
Thismoderunsthefanwithoutdehumidifyingtheair.Thisisgreatforpurifyingtheair
whenthedesiredroomhumidityhasbeenreached,especiallywhentheoptionalHEPAfilter
isinstalled.IfusingaHEPAfilterwhiledehumidifyingpleasenotethatperformanceofthe
unitmaybereducedby10%.
FRONTHUMIDITYINDICATOR
TheElectrIQEDD8Linequippedwithanintelligenthumiditydisplayonthefront,givingtheuseran
immediatevisualindicationoftheambienthumidity.ThefrontLED’swillchangecolourtoindicatethe
currenthumiditylevel

Blue light – room humidity > 70%
Green light – room humidity 50~70%
Red light –room humidity < 50%

OPERATION
Beforeoperatingtheunit,pleaseensureitispluggedintoamainssocket,andopentheairdeflectoron
thetopoftheunit.
SwitchingtheunitONandOFF
Pressthepowerbuttontoturnontheunit.Theunitwillstarttoworkinsleepmode,withadesired
humidityof50%set.Toturnofftheunitpressthepowerbuttonagain.
Pleasenotethatwhenturningitoff,thedehumidifierwillstilloperateforanumberofminutesto
dischargetheremainingwaterfromthedesiccantdiskandpreventmouldgrowth.
SettingtheLaundryMode
PresstheLaundryButton.Laundrymodewillsetthefanandheaterontomaximumand
humidistatcontrolwillbedisabled.
Donotdrylaundryabovetheunitto
preventwaterenteringthedehumidifier.
Placethelaundryatleast40cmawayfrom
yourdehumidifier.Directtheunitwith
frontventstowardstheclothesaireror
hangingclothes.Hotdryaircomesfroma
45degreesangle.Laundrymodecanbe
usedinconjunctionwiththestopping
timer.
IMPORTANT:Pleasefollowthedistances
shownonthediagram,toensurethatthe
walls,clothing,andotherobjectsarekepta
safedistancefromtheunit.
SettingtheTimer
Onpressingthetimerkeythe2digitsLEDdisplaywillcyclethrough1Ͳ24showingthenumber
hoursafterwhichthedehumidifierwillstop.Thedisplayedtimewillreverttohumiditydisplaya
numberofsecondsafterselectionwasmade.
Whenselecting'4hours'forexampletheunitwillstopoperatingafter4hoursattheselected
humidity/fansettings.Ifthetankbecomesfullbeforethefinishtime,theunitwillstop,andthe
TankFullLEDwillflash.
Atanypointthetimerkeycanbepressedrepeatedlytochangethedesireddurationoruntil00is
displayedtocancelthetimer.
Ifthetimerbuttonisusedwhiletheunitisturnedoff(ButPluggedin),youcanspecifythenumberof
hoursuntiltheunitturnson.

SettingtheDehumidificationlevel
Starttheunitandleaveitfor5Ͳ10minutesonsleepmode(50%RH)untilthehumidistatisableto
correctlyreadthehumiditywithintheroom.
Pressthehumiditylevelkeytoselectthedesiredhumidistatcontrolsfromcontinuous
operation(CO)to40%50%60%70%.
Whilepressingthehumiditylevelkeythedisplaycyclesthehumidistatsetrangeforthisunitfrom40%
through50%60%70%backtocontinuousmode.
Intelligentdehumidificationandpowersaving
YourElectrIQdehumidifierfeaturesanintelligentmicroCPUthatensuremaximumwaterextraction
withminimumpowerusefortheselectionmade.
Theunitwilltrytomaintainhumiditylevelselectedintheroombyturningofftheheatingelement
whenthedesiredhumidityisreached.Notethataccordingtothespacewheretheunitisused,
obstaclesinthedirectflow,extrahumiditybeingaddedatanytime,settingsselected,aswellasother
environmentalfactorstheresultsmayvary.
OPERATIONALADVICE
1. Plugtopower,pressthepowerbuttontoturnͲonthemachine;pressthepowerbuttonagainto
turnͲoffthedehumidifier.
2. MakesurewaterͲtankisplaced/fittedcorrectly.Ifthewatertankisnotfitted/placedcorrectlythe
'waterfull'light willflashandthemachinewillnotoperate.
3. Whenthedehumidifierfirststarts,defaulthumiditysettingissetto50%RH.
4. Whenunpluggingfromthewallsocketuseonehandtoholdtheplugandtheotherhandagainst
sockettoavoidpowercorddamage.
WARNING:Usingpoorqualitysockets,extensionsoroverloadingthecircuitsmaycausedamageto
themachineormaystartafire.
5. WhenswitchingOFFthemachine,donotsimplyunplugtheunitfromthesocketͲensureyouturn
offthemachineproperlyandhaveallowedittocompletethedryingcycle(waitforthefantostop),
beforeunplugging.
TiltProtection
YourElectrIQdehumidifierwasdesignedwithsafetyinmind.Whenunitistilteditwillbeshutdownto
minimizesafetyriskordamage.TheOnlightwillflashred,toindicateantitiltprotectionhasactivated.
Iftheunithasbeentilted,pleasedonotuseifforadayortwountiltheinternalsarecompletelydried,as
usingtheunitafterithasbeentiltedcouldresultinashortcircuit,whichwouldinternallydamagetheunit.

POSITIONINGTHEDEHUMIDIFIER
Thepositioningofyourdehumidifiercanhavealargeimpactonitsperformanceandefficiency.Inpositioningthe
dehumidifierpleaseensurethecirculationofairisnotrestrictedaroundtheunit.Pleaseobservethefigurebelow
showingtheclearancewhichisrequiredaroundtheunit
YourElectrIQdehumidifierwillbegintoprotectyourhomefromtheharmfuleffectsofexcessivemoistureassoonas
itisturnedon.Excessmoisturetravelsthroughoutyourhome,inthesamewaythatcookingsmellsspreadaround
thehouse.Forthisreason,thedehumidifiershouldbepositionedinacentralandclearlocationsothatitcandraw
thismoistairtowardsitfromalloverthehome.Awarmhallwayorlandingisanexcellentpositionforyour
dehumidifier.Ifpossible,leaveinteriordoorsajartoallowaircirculationbetweenrooms.
Alternatively,ifyouhaveaseriousproblemin
oneareayoucanbeginbypositioningthe
dehumidifierthereandmovingittoamore
centrallocationatalaterdate.Forthemost
effectiveuse,runyourdehumidifierwithany
externaldoorsandwindowskeptclosed.
Pleasenotetheunitshouldnotbeplaced
directlyagainstaradiatororotherheat
source.
WhenpositioningyourElectrIQdehumidifier,
ensurethatitisplacedsecurelyonalevel
surfaceclearofanyobstaclethatmaylimitthe
airmovement.
Thisdehumidifierisdesignedonlyforindoor
residential/officeapplicationsandany
commercialorindustrialusewillinvalidatethe
warranty.Placethedehumidifieronaflatdry
surface.Donotuseoutdoors.
WATERDRAINAGE
Whenthewatertankisfull,theunitwillstopautomatically.Whenthishappensthewaterfullindicatorlight
willblinkonthecontrolpanel.
Toemptythetank,pleasefollowthesteps:
1. Holdtheunitwithonehandtomakeitstandfirmly.
2. Pulloutthetanksquarelyfromtheunit.
3. Graspthewatertankhandle,removethecoverof
thetank,andemptythewaterfromthedrain.
Afterthetankhasbeenemptied,returnthewatertankto
itsposition,andmakesureitisproperlyinserted,sothat
the'waterfull'LEDisnotlit,andtheunitreturnsto
normaloperation

Notes:
•Donotremovethewatertankimmediatelyaftertheunitstops.Pleasewaitawhiletoavoidthe
waterdrippingintotheunitandcausingdamage.
•Onlyemptythewatertankwhenitisfullorbeforemovingorstoringtheunit.
•Donotrestthetankonthefloorbecausethebottomofthetankcouldbeunevenandtankmayfall
andcausethewatertospill.
• Whenyouremovethetank,donottouchsensorsoranypartswhicharesituatedbehindtank.
Doingsomaydamagetheproduct.Besuretopushthetankgentlyallthewayintotheunit.
Bangingthebucketagainstanythingorfailingtopushitinsecurelyintoplacemaycausetheunit
nottooperate.
•DonotremoveordamagethefloatswitchinthewaterͲtank,otherwisethemachinewillstop
working.
• Pleasemakesurethewatertankcoverisputbackintoplacecorrectlybeforethewatertankis
reinserted.
•IfthewaterͲtankisinsertedincorrectly,thetankfullindicatorwillflash.Removethewatertankand
reinserttoturntheindicatoroffandresumenormaluse.
•Atalltimes,avoidwaterenteringtheunit.Itmaycauseanelectricalhazardanddamagetheunit.
CONTINUOUSDRAINAGE
Thisdehumidifierhasacontinuousdrainholethatcanbeconnectedtoaplasticpipewithan11mminner
diameter(NotSupplied).Watercanbeautomaticallyplumbedinordrainedintoasink,alarger
receptacleorthroughthewallintoanoutsidedrain.Pleasefollowthestepsbelowtosetyourunitupfor
continuousdrainage:
1. Cutoffthecoverforthecontinuousdrainontheback
oftheunit.
2. Removetheblackrubberwaterplug.
3. Connectawatertubeofinnerdiameter11mmtothe
drainconnector,andensuretheconnectionistight
*Pleasenote,thewatertubeisnotsuppliedwiththe
unit.
4. Pulloutthewatertank,plugthedroppinggateinside
theunitwiththewaterplugtakenfromthe
continuousdrainport.
5. Returnthewatertankbackintopositionwithinthe
unit.
Thisunitusesgravityfalltodisposewaterhencethedrainshouldbelowerthanthedehumidifierwater
outlet.Besuretorunthewaterpipedownwardandletthewatertoflowoutsmoothly.Donotkinkor
bendthepipe.
NOTE:Whenthecontinuousdrainfeatureisnotbeingused,reversethepipeinstallation,removethedrain
hosefromtheoutletandattachtherubberplugbacktothedrainoutlet
Thepermanentdraincanbeusedinconjunctionwithwaterpump(e.g.whendrainingfromacellar)tolift
thewaterupwards.

CAREANDMAINTENANCE
Alwaysswitchofftheunitandunplugfromthemainsbeforecleaningorperforminganymaintenance.Whenitisnotin
useforalongperioditisadvisedtoremovetheplugfromtheplugsocket.Donotusechemicalsolvents(suchasbenzene,
alcoholorgasoline)astheymaycauseirreversibledamagetotheunit.
FilterCleaning
TheAirͲinletmaygatherdusteasily,pleasecleanitoftenwithasoft,dampcloth.Ifthefilteriscoveredbydust,the
airflowandtheperformanceoftheunitwillbeaffected,itmayevencausemachinedamage.Werecommendthat
youregularlycleanthefilters.Thedehumidifiermustbedisconnectedfromthesocketbeforemaintenanceandthe
filtersmustbeallowedtofullydrybeforereuse.
1.Removethefiltersfromtheunit,andtapthedust
away.
2.Cleanthecarbonandthemeshfilterwithavacuum
cleanerorsoftͲbrush
3.Ifdirtandgreaseisaccumulatedwashthemeshfilter
inhotsoapywater
3.Replacethefiltersinpositionasshowninthe
diagram.
Note:Neverusetheunitwithouttheantibacterialmeshdustfilter.The
activecarbonfilterisoptionalandshouldbereplacedifnecessaryafter
1Ͳ1½yearsofusage.Alwaysremovethefiltersoutofprotectivebags
beforefirstuse.
ThereisanoptionalHEPAfilteravailableforpurchase.HEPAfilterwillenhancetheairqualityintheroom.
PleaseinstalltheHEPAfilterbetweenthefilterframeandtheactivecarbonfilterasindiagrambellow.
ReplacetheHEPAfilterevery6monthsoroftendependingontheenvironmentandairquality.Neveruse
theunitwithcloggedfilters.
GrilleandCaseCleaning
Usewaterandamilddetergent.Donotusebleachorabrasives.Donotsplashwaterdirectlyontothemain
unit.Doingsomaycauseanelectricalshockandcanleadtodeteriorationoftheinsulation,orcausethe
unittorust.Theairintakeandoutletgrillesgetsoiledeasily,souseavacuumattachmentorsoftbrushto
clean.

Watertankcleaning
Everyfewweeks,cleanthetanktopreventgrowthofmould,mildewandbacteria.Partiallyfillthetank
withcleanwaterandaddalittlemilddetergentorlightbleachsolution.Swishitaroundinthanemptythe
tankandrinse.
NOTE:Donotuseadishwashertocleanthetank.Aftercleaninganddryingthetankmustbereinserted
securelyintodehumidifierinordertorestartoperation.Onlyusesoftwetclothorpapertowel.Donotuse
detergentorveryhotwater.
Endofseasonstorage
