ELIT 1068 LAN-tester ogtonesøker
ELIT 1068 er mentfor partesting av data- ogtelekabler hvor man benytter sender og
mottaker som indikerer koblingsrekkefølgen på kabelen. Itillegg til dette kan detogså
benyttes som tonesøker for å følge og finne umerkede kabler som er spenningsløse.
Inspeksjon ved utpakking, gi beskjedtilELITAS hvis noe mangler eller er skadet:

Vennligst les og følg sikkerhetsinformasjonenfør bruk:
Ikke bruk dette instrumentet rett før, under eller rett etter tordenvær. Dette kan føretil
elektrisk støt. Sørg for atthender, klær, sko og teknisk utstyr det skal måles på ertørt.
Søk og test kun på kabler som ikke er spennings-satt. Ikke ha øretelefonene i øret når de
kobles tileller fra. Kontroller alltid generator, mottaker og tilbehørfor skader før bruk.
Hvis instrumentet utsettes for store temperatursvingninger må det akklimatiseres før
bruk. Ikke bruk utstyreti områder med kraftige magnetiske, elektrostatiske eller RF felt.
Bruk kun instrumentet som beskrevet i manualen ellers kan ikke din sikkerhet garanteres.
Vask kapsling kun med lett fuktet klutog mild såpe. Hvis instrumentert ikke skal brukes
på lang tid må batterienetas ut før lagring.

Bruk avinstrumentet:
Instrumentet slår seg automatisk avhvis ingen knapper blir betjent i løpet av30
minutter.
Søking etter kabel-par:
1. Koble kabelen med krokodilleklemmer til RJ-11 kontakten i senderen.
2. Koble rød krokodilleklemme til den enetråden i paret og sortklemme til den andre.
3. Skru på senderenved å holde inne AV/PÅknappen i minimum 1 sekund.
4. Trykk på TONE knappen hvisTONE dioden ikke lyser konstant.
5. Trykk inn og hold SØK knappen på mottakerenfor å starte søket
6. Før tuppen på mottakeren over parene det ønskes søkt på. Paretmed høyest signal
er det man leter etter.
Søking etter kabler:
1. Koble kabelen med de to krokodilleklemmene til RJ-11 kontakten i senderen.
2. Koble den røde klemmentil:
a. Leder i kabel som ønskes søktpå for kabel medflere ledere.
b. Skjerm i coax eller annen kabel med skjerm.
3. Koble den sorte klemmen til:
a. Annen annen leder i kabeldet ønskes søkt på, men ikke leder i samme par som rød
klemme, ELLER tiljord for søk på kabel medflere ledere.
b. Senterleder eller jord for søk på coax eller annen skjermetkabel.
4. Skru på senderenved å holde inne AV/PÅknappen i minimum 1 sekund.
5. Trykk på TONE knappen hvisTONE dioden ikke lyser konstant.
6. Trykk inn og hold SØK knappen på mottakerenfor å starte søket
7. Før tuppen på mottakeren mot veggen\kabelbro\skap eller andre steder hvor
kabelen kan være lokalisert. Der mottakssignalet er høyest befinner kabelen seg.
Søking etter telefonlinjer:
1. Koble tilkabel med RJ-11 plugg i begge endertil senderen ogtelefonlinjen.
2. Skru på senderenved å holde inne AV/PÅknappen i minimum 1 sekund.
3. Trykk på TONE knappen hvisTONE dioden ikke lyser konstant.
4. Trykk inn og hold SØK knappen på mottakerenfor å starte søket
5. Før tuppen på mottakeren overtelefonlinjene, linjen med den høyeste tonen er den
man leter etter.
Søking etter data/LAN kabler:
1. Koble tilkabelen med RJ-45 plugg i sender og i vegg, eller RJ-45 kabeldirekte.
2. Skru på senderenved å holde inne AV/PÅknappen i minimum 1 sekund.
3. Trykk på TONE knappen hvisTONE dioden ikke lyser konstant.
4. Trykk inn og hold SØK knappen på mottakerenfor å starte søket
5. Før tuppen på mottakeren over datakablene, den med den høyestetonen er den
man leter etter.
Tips: HZ-knappen på sender kantrykkes inn for åforandre frekvensen på sendt
signal, for enklere å kunne skille sendt signal og signalfra omgivelsene.

Testing av kabler, partesting:
OBS: Bruk aldri denne funksjonen på kabler med spenning tilstede.
Utstyret er lagerfor å teste kabler avfølgende typer:
Nettverkskabler: IEE 10BASE-T, EIA/TIA 568A, EIA/EIA568B, AT&T258Aog Token Ring
Telefonkabler: Både 2 og 4 trådet.
Og andre kabler med metallisk forbindelse.
1. Skru på senderenved å trykke innAV\PÅknappen i minimum 1 sekund.
2. Trykk så inn LAN knappen, TONE diodenvil da blinke
3. Koble senderentil kabelen som skaltestes.
4. Koble mottakeren i andre enden, diodene for trådene med kobling mellom sender og
mottakervil nå lyse hvis det er forbindelse.
a. Er det bruddvil hverken sender eller mottaker lyse på den aktuelle dioden\tråd.
b. Er det kortslutning mellomto lederevil mottaker lyse to ganger i løpet aven syklus
på to dioder. Sendervil lyse normalt fra 1 til8.
c. Om kabelen er koblet korrekt eller ikke kontrolleres normalt i enden tilmottakeren.
Her skal normalt diodene løpefra 1-8 og så starte på nytt. Gjør de ikke det er det
f.eks. byttet opp ettpar, brudd eller kortslutning.
d. Sender vilindikere «sendt signal» med lysende diode så lenge strøm går i kretsen,
f.eks hvistråd nr 8 er kortsluttettil 7, men ikke koblet til8 i andre enden.
5. TREG og RASK knappene velger hastighet på skifte mellom par. For at G skal lyse
krever skjermet kabel (Ground)
Vedlikehold og drift:
Utskiftning av batteri:
Advarsel: Koble alltidfra alle ledninger før batteriluke åpnes.
Sender:
Skift ut batteriet hvisAV\PÅdioden blinker på senderenheten. Skru utskruen bak på
enheten og skyv ned dekselet. Erstattde 3 AAA(LR03) batteriene med nye og monter
tilbake dekselet.
Mottaker:
Skift ut batteriet hvis den blå dioden ikke lyser når man trykker inn SØK knappen. Vipp
av batteridekselpå baksiden av enheten. Erstatt med 1 stk 9V blokkbatteri(6F22) og
sett på plass dekselet igjen.
Rengjøring:
Tørk av kassen med en lett fuktet klutog mild såpe. Ikke benytt etsendevæsker. Skitt
eller fukt itilkoblingsterminaler kan påvirke målingene.
Bruksområde:
Temperatur: -10 - +50 grader C. Luftfuktighet: 0-90%RH, ikke kondenserende.

Read Before Use Safety Information

To a ensure safe operation and service of the equipment,
please follow these guidelines:
Do not use the equipment just before , during or just after
an
electrical storm (electrical shock / high energy
overvoltage!).
Please make sure that your hands , your shoes, your
clothing, the
floor, switches and switching components are dry.
Trace only unenergized wiring. Contact with live circuits
can
result in severe injury or death. Always disconnect power
to the
circuit prior to using the earphone.
Never use the Cable Testing features on a live circuits.
Do not use the equipment if they look damaged and / or
wet.
Never use the equipment if it just brought from a place
with great
temperature difference.
Avoid to use the equipment in the environment with
strong
magnetic fields, strong electrostatic fields and strong RF
fields.
Read the instruction before use and follow all safety
instructions.
Use the equipment only as specified in the instruction
card;
otherwise , the equipment's safety features may not protect
you.
Clean the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent only.
Do not
use abrasives or solvents.
Replace the battery(ies) if the power indicator is flashing.
Remove the batteries if the equipment planned to be stored
for long period.
A" &. Warning" statement identifies hazardous conditions
and actions that could cause bodily harm or death.
A" & Caution" statement identifies conditions and actions
thatcould damage the Meter or the equipment under test.

Operating The Equipment
Tracing Pairs
1) Connect the cable with alligator clip to the transmitter.
2) Connect the red clip to one of the tracing wire and the black
clip to the other.
3) Switch on the transmitter.
4) Push the SCAN button on the transmitter and the SCAN
indicator will switch on.
5)Activate the receiver by pressing and holding the SCAN
button.
6)At the opposite end of the wire, move the receiver tip near
each pair. The pair with the loudest tone is the intended
pair.
Tracing Cables
1) Connect the cable with alligator clip to the transmitter.
2) Connect the red clip to:
a) wire in the unknown cable for cables with multiple wires.
b)The outer shield for tracing a shielded / coaxial cable.
3) Connect the black clip to:
a)Anotherwire in the unknown cable but not in the same pair
or to ground for cables with multiple wires.
b)The cent er conductor or ground for tracing a shielded /
coaxial cables.
4) Switch on the transmitter.
5) Push the SCAN button on the transmitter and the SCAN
indicator will switch on.
6) Activate the receiver by pressing and holding the SCAN
button.
7) Move the receiver towards a section of the wall where the
cable could be located. When the loudest tone is obtained,
the cable is located there.

Tracing Phone Lines
1) Connect the RJ-11 cable with the transmitter and
phone jack.
2) Switch on the transmitter.
3) Push the SCAN button on the transmitter and the
SCAN indicator
will switch on.
4) Activate the receiver by pressing and holding the
SCAN button.
5) Move the receiver close to each phone line. The line
with the
loudest tone is the intended line.
Note: Press Hz button to adjust the tone Frequency
for easily
identify the signal from the environmental noise.
Tracing Data I LAN Cable
1) Connect the RJ-11 / RJ-45 cable with the
transmitter and phone jack.
2) Switch on the transmitter.
3) Push the SCAN button on the transmitter and the
SCAN indicator will
switch on.
4)Activatethe receiver by pressing and holding the
SCAN button.
5) Move the receiver close to each phone line. The line
with the loudest
tone is the intended line.
Note: it is allowed to plug in the testing cable to the
transmitter
directly if the testing cable was installed with plug.
Note: Press Hz button to adjust the tone Frequency
for easily
identify the signal from the environmental noise

Cable Testing
& Never use the Cable Testing features on a live
circuits.
The equipment is designed to test the following cables.
Network cables: IEE 10Base-T, EIA/TIA568A, EIA/
EIA568B,
AT& T258A, Token Ring
Phone Lines : Both 2 and 4 lines
Any metallic connection cables
1) Connect the testing cable with the transmitter and
receiver.
2) Switch on the transmitter.
3) Push the TEST button and the OHM indicator will
switch on , the
SCAN indicator flashing.
4) The result of measurement is indicated over the
status of green
LEDs al both devices.
Note: Press FAST or SLOW button to adjust the
Verifying speed
Cable Testing
ffi Never use the Cable Testing features on a live circuits.
1) Connect the testing cable with the transmitter.
2) Switch on the transmitter.
3) Push the V button and the VOLT indicator will switch
on to
indicate the transmitter is standby.
4) If voltage is present in the testing cable, either the
SCAN or
OHM indicator will switch on.
Note: only model A has this feature.

Battery Voltage Testing
1 )Connect the cable with alligator clip between
the transmitter
and the testing battery.
2)Switch on the transmitter.
3)Push the V button and the VOLT indicator
will switch on to
indicate the transmitter is standby.
4)Ifthe red clip is connect to the positive side,
the SCAN
indicator will switch on.
Otherwise, the OHM indicator will switch on.
Note. only model A has this feature.
CDntinuity Test
1) Plug the cable with alligator clip in the
transmitter RJ-11
2) Connect the cable with alligator clip to the
two ends of the
testing cable
3) Switch on the transmitter.
4) Push the button and the OHM indicator will
switch on.
5) SCAN indicator will switch on if the cable is
good enough
to let current pass though.
Note only model A has this feature
AutD PDwer Off
The equipment will automatically switch off if
there is no
function or button press for 30 minutes.

Maintenance
Replacing batteries
& Warning
To avoid shock, injury, or damage to the
equipment, remove all
the connection before opening the battery doors.
Replace the battery if the power indicator on the
transmitter is
flashing and /or the power indicator on the
receiver do not switch on.
To replace the battery, switch off the transmitter.
Open the battery
doors as following photos.
Replace the 3 x 1.5V AAA (R6) batteries for the
transmitter and
1 x 9V (6F22) battery for the receiver.
Cleaning
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild
detergent. Do not
use abrasives or solvents. Dirt or moisture in the
jacks can
affect the measurement.
