The brightgreen LEDdisplayisdesigned tobe highlyvisibleand easilyreadable
fromanywhereinyourroom.Atthe sametimewehavemanaged tominimizethe
cabinetsizesothatthe radiowon’ttakeup too muchspaceon yournighttable.
Thedualalarmscanbesetandusedindependently.Andsincetherearetwoseparate
Radio/Buzzerselectorswitches,you can setone alarmtowakeyou tobuzzerand
the othertowakeyou toradioifyourwish.All ofthe controlsareeasy tosee and
easy touse.The radiohasaslide ruledialforeasy tuning.The clock hasfast
forwardand slowreversesetting controlsforquick and easy adjustments.
The Sure-Alarmbatteryback up systemwill rememberthe timeand alarmsettings
ofcourse,butitcan do morethan that. Aslong asthereisafresh9-voltbattery
installed,the Sure-Alarmsystemwill operatethe radioorbuzzeralarmtowakeyou
up even ifthe powerisoff atyournormalwakeup time.

PREPARATIONFORUSE
UNPACKING AND SET UP
•Remove the radio from the carton and remove all packing material from the
radio. We suggest that you save the packing material, if possible, in the unlikely
event that your radio ever needs to be returned for service. The original carton
and packing material is the only safe way to pack your radio to protect it from
damage in transit.
•Remove any descriptive labels or stickers on the front or top of the cabinet. Do
not remove any labels or stickers from the back or bottom of the cabinet.
•Note the serial number on the bottom of your radio and write this number in the
space provided on Page 2 of this manual.
•Place your radio on a level surface such as a table, desk or shelf, convenient to
anAC outlet, out of direct sunlight, and away from sources of excess heat, dirt,
dust, moisture, humidity, or vibration.
•Unwind the AC power cord and extend it to its full length. The FM antenna is
built in to this cord. It must be fully extended to provide the best FM reception.
SURE-ALARM BATTERY BACK UP SYSTEM
The Sure-Alarm battery back up system in this radio will maintain the time and
alarm settings in the event of a temporary power interruption. When the power is
restored the time and alarm settings will be correct. If the power is off at your wake
up time, the Sure-Alarm system will use the battery power to turn on the radio or
buzzer alarm as usual, as long as the back up battery is installed and has sufficient
power remaining.
The Sure-Alarm battery back up system requires one 9-volt battery, not included.
We recommend that you install an alkaline battery for longest life and best
performance.

To install thebattery:
•Open the batterycompartmentcoveron the bottom
ofthe radiobypressing the tab inthe direction of
the arrow.
•Connectthe 9-voltbatterytothe batteryterminal.It
can onlybe connected one way.
•Pushthe batteryintothe batterycompartmentand
replacethe cover.
POWERFAILUREINDICATOR
If no batteryisinstalled inthe radio,orifthe batteryinthe compartmentisweakor
dead,the timeand alarmsettingswill be lostifthe powerisinterrupted.When the
powerisrestored the clock displaywill beginflashing.Thisisyourindication that
the timedisplayisincorrectand needstobe reset.
Important: Afteryou resetthe time,be suretoresetyouralarmsettingsaswell.
POWERSOURCE
Thisradioisdesigned tooperateon normal120V60HzACpoweronly.Donot
attempttooperatethe radioon anyotherpowersource.You couldcausedamage
tothe radiothatisnotcovered byyourwarranty.
Thisradioshouldbe connected toanACoutletthatisalways ‘live’.Donotconnect
ittoan outletthatiscontrolled byawall switch.When the powertothe radiois
interrupted,the SureAlarmbatteryback up systemtakesovertomaintainthe time
and alarmsettings.Tomaximizethe lifeofthe back up battery,keep the radio
connected toa‘live’ACoutletatall times.
ThisradiousesapolarizedACplug whichhas
one blade widerthan the other.Thisplug will
onlyfitintoapolarizedACoutlet.Thisisasafety
feature.If the plug will notfit, you mayhavean
oldernon-polarizedACoutlet.Donotdefeatthe
safetyfeaturebytrying tofilethe widerblade,
orreplacing the plug.Contactan electrician to
replaceyouroutdated outlet.

OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
SETTINGTHECLOCK
When you connectthe radiotoyourACoutletforthe firsttimethe clock displaywill
beginflashing “12:00”(AM).The flashing will stop when you setthe time.
1.Depress the Clock button and the FastForwardbutton and advancethe
displaytoafewminutesahead ofthe correcttime.
2.Releasethe FastForwardbutton and depress SlowReversebutton
until the correcttimeappears,then releaseall buttons.
Note:BesuretoobservetheAMindicatortomakesurethatthetimeissetcorrectly
forAMorPM.If theAMindicatoris‘on’,the timedisplayed is“AM”.If theAM
indicatoris‘off’,the timedisplayed is“PM”.
SETTINGTHEWAKEUPTIMES
Thisclock radiohastwoseparatealarmsthatcan be setand used independently.
You mayusethe alarmstowaketwopeopleatdifferenttimes,oryou mayuseone
alarmforweekdays and the otherforweekend wakeup times.The procedurefor
adjusting the wakeup timeisthe sameforbothAlarm1andAlarm2.
1.Depress and holdeithertheAlarm1orAlarm2setting button.The displaywill
change fromthe correcttimetotheAlarm1orAlarm2wakeup time.
2.Whileholding theAlarm1orAlarm2setting button,depress the FastForward
buttontoadvancethe displaytoafewminutesahead ofthe desiredwakeup
time.
3.Releasethe FastForwardbutton and depress the SlowReversebutton
until the desired wakeup timeappears,then releaseall buttons.
Note:Besurethatyou havesetthe wakeup timecorrectlybyobserving the AM
indicator.If the AMindicatoris‘on’the wakeup timeis“AM”.If the AM
indicatoris‘off’,the wakeup timeis“PM”.

Wheneveryou wanttocheck the wakeup times,simplypress eithertheAlarm1or
Alarm2setting buttons.The displaywill change fromcorrecttimetowakeup time.
Releasethe Alarm1orAlarm2setting buttonstoreturntocorrecttime.
LISTENINGTOTHERADIO
1.Setthe Band selectortothe desired band,AMorFM.
2.Setthe Volumecontroltoalowsetting.
3.Press the RadioOnbutton toturnthe radio‘On’.
4.Selectyourdesired station withthe Tuning control.
5.Adjustthe Volumecontroltothe desired setting.
6.When you arefinished listening,press the Snooze/RadioOff button toturnthe
radio‘Off’.
ANTENNA INFORMATION
AM–The AMbarantenna isinside the cabinet. If AMreception isweak,change
the position ofcabinetuntil the internalantenna picks up the strongestsignal.
FM–The FMantenna isbuiltintotheACpowercord.If FMreception isweaktry
varyingthepositionand direction ofthe powercorduntil youfind thestrongest
signal.
WAKETORADIO
1.Turnthe radio‘On’and selectthe band,station,and volumelevelthatyou wish
tohearwhen the alarmcomeson,then turnthe radio‘Off’again.
2.Reconfirmthe wakeup timesettingsforthe alarmyou areusing,Alarm1,
Alarm2,orbothalarms.
3.SettheAlarmselectorswitchforone orbothalarmstothe ‘Radio’position.The
appropriateAlarm1and/orAlarm2indicatorswill lightup toconfirmthatthe
alarmsareset.
4.Atthe selected wakeup timethe radiowill turn‘On’.It will playforone hourand
then shutoff automatically.

5.Tostop the radiosooner,press theAlarm1(AlarmReset)button.The radiowill
stop butthe alarmremainssetand will turnthe radioon againatthe sametime
on the following day.
6. If you do notwantthe alarmtoturnthe radioon the following day,setthe
appropriateAlarmselectortothe ‘Off’position.
WAKETOBUZZER
1.Reconfirmthe wakeup timesettingsforthe alarmyou areusing,Alarm1,
Alarm2,orbothalarms.
2.SettheAlarmselectorswitchforone orbothalarmstothe Buzzerposition.The
appropriateAlarm1and/orAlarm2indicatorswill lightup toconfirmthatthe
alarmsareset.
3.Atthe selected wakeup timethe buzzerwill sound.It will continue forone hour
and then shutoff automatically.
4.Tostop the buzzersooner,press theAlarm1(AlarmReset)button.The buzzer
will stop butthe alarmremainssetand will turnthe buzzeron againatthe same
timeon the following day.
5. If you do notwantthe alarmtoturnthe buzzeron the following day,setthe
appropriateAlarmselectortothe ‘Off’position.
RADIO AND BUZZEROPERATION
You mayalsosetone alarmforwaketoradioand the otherforwaketobuzzer.Just
settheAlarm1andAlarm2selectorswitchestothe desired positions.
SNOOZEALARM
Afterthe radioorbuzzeralarmsoundsinthe morning you maypress the Snooze
Barforafewmoreminutessleep.The alarmwill stop forapproximately9minutes
and then turnon again.You mayrepeatthe Snoozeoperation up toseven timesif
desired,butafterthe seventhtimethe alarmwill notturnon again.
Note:Wheneverthe SnoozeBarisdepressed the displaychangesfromnormal
timetoa“minutesand seconds”display.The minutewill be the lastdigit
thatappeared inthe timedisplay,and the secondswill continue toadvance.
When the Snoozebarisreleased the displayreturnstothe correcttime.

SLEEP TOMUSICTIMER
You can programthe sleep timertoplaythe radioforup to59 minutesand then shut
off automatically.
1.Press the Sleep button.The displaywill brieflyshow“0:59”and the radiowill
begintoplay.After59 minutesthe radiowill shutoff automatically.
2.Toadjustthe amountoftimethatthe radiowill playbeforeshutting off, holdthe
Sleep button.Theradiowill begincounting downfrom“0:59”.When the desired
amountofsleep timeappearson the display,releasethe Sleep button.
3.Tocancelthe sleep timerbeforeitcountsdownto“00”and shutthe radio‘Off’
immediately,press the Snoozebar.
IMPORTANT:
Rememberthatthe station and volumesettingsyou chooseforthe Sleep ToMusic
operation arethe samesettingsyou will hearifyou setthe alarmforwaketoradio
the following morning.
DIMMERCONTROL
TheDimmercontrolwassettothe ‘High’position atourfactory.If you find the clock
displayistoobrightinadarkenedroom,settheDimmercontroltothe‘Low’position.

Therearenouserserviceablepartsinsidethisradio.Pleasereferallserviceproblems
toaqualified servicefacility.See the warrantypage ofthismanualforfurther
details.
If the cabinetbecomesdusty,wipe the exteriorwithasoft dustclothonly.Never
usedusting sprays orpolisheson the cabinet.
If the cabinetbecomesdirtyorsmudged withfingerprintsitmaybe wiped witha
soft cloththathasbeen slightlydampened withamildsoap and watersolution.
Always disconnectthe powercordfromthe ACoutletbeforecleaning,and never
allowanyliquidtogetinside the cabinet.
Note: If thereisno batteryinthe back-up batterycompartment, theTimeandAlarm
settingswill be lostwhen the powercordisdisconnected forcleaning.Reset
the clock and wakeup timesafterreconnecting the powercord.
