Unpacking And SetUp
•Removethe unitfromthe carton,and removeall packing materialsfromthe
unit.
•Savethecartonandpackingmaterialsincasetheuniteverneedstobereturned
forservice.Using the originalcarton and packing materialsisthe onlywayto
safelyrepack the unitforshipment.
•Removeanydescriptivelabelsorstickersfromthe top orfrontofthe unit. Do
notremoveanylabelsfromthe back orbottomofthe cabinet.
•Removeanysmall stripsoftape thatmayhavebeen used topreventthe CD
doorfromopening intransit.
•Open the CD doorand removethe whitecardfromthe CD compartment.
Discarditand closethe CD door.
•Unwind the FMwireantenna and extend ittoitsfull length.
•Unwind theACpowercordand extend ittoitsfull length.
•Placethe uniton astable,levelsurfacesuchasatable,desk,shelf, etcwithin
easy reachofan ACoutlet, outofdirectsunlight, and awayfromsourcesof
excessiveheat, dust, moistureorhumidity.
PowerSupply
Thisunitisdesigned tooperateonlyon normal120V60HzAChousecurrent.
Operating thisunitfromanyotherpowersourcemaycausedamage tothe unit
and suchdamage isnotcovered byyourwarranty.
Thisunithasapolarized ACplug withone wide blade and one narrowblade.This
plug will onlyfitintoamatching polarized ACoutlet. Thisisasafetyfeatureto
reducethe possibilityofelectric
shock.If thisplug will notfitinyour
ACoutlet, you probablyhavean
outdated non-polarized outlet. You
shouldhaveyouroutdated outlet
changed byaqualified,licensed
electrician.Donotfilethe wide blade
on the plug,orusean adapterto

BatteryBack UpSystem
Thisunitusesasingle9-Voltbattery(notincluded)tomaintainthe timeand alarm
settingsintheeventthatitisaccidentallyunplugged,oryou experienceatemporary
powerfailure.Werecommend thatyouinstall awell-knownbrand ofAlkaline battery
forlongestlifeandbestperformance.Tokeepthebatteryback upsystemoperational
you shouldinstallanewbatteryevery6to9months.Somepeoplefind itconvenient
toreplacethe back up batteriesintheiralarmclocks,clock radios,and smoke
detectorstoo,atthe beginning and end ofDaylightSaving Time.
Toinstall the back up batteryturnthe radioupside downand press on the small
tab toremovethe batterydoor.Connectthe batterytothe batteryterminal,push
the batteryback intothe compartmentand replacethe batterydoor.
If the powerisinterrupted the clock displaywill go off butthe batterywill maintain
the clock and alarmtimesettings.When powerisrestored the timedisplaywill be
correctand youralarmsetting will alsobe maintained.
If you noticethatthe timedisplayiscompletelywrong you probablyexperienced a
powerfailurewithaweakorexhausted batteryinthe compartment. Resetthe
clock and replacethe batteryassoon aspossible.

SETTINGTHETIMEOFDAY
•Connectthe powercordtoyourACoutlet. Makesuretousean outletthatis
always ‘live’.Donotusean outletthatiscontrolled byawall switch.
•When the unitisplugged inforthe firsttimethe displaywill show“12:00”(AM).
1.)Press the TIMEbutton.The displaybeginstoflash.
2.)Continue toholdthe TIMEbutton and press the /HR button tosetthe
hour.Besuretoobservethe PMindicatortosetthe hourcorrectly.If the PM
indicatoris‘On’the hourdisplayed isPM.
3.)Press the TIMEand /MINbuttonstogethertosetthe minutecorrectly,,
then releaseall buttons.
SETTINGTHEWAKEUPTIMES
The unithastwoseparatewakeup alarmsthatcan be setand used independently.
1.)Press and holdtheALARM1orALARM2button.The displaywill change from
the respectivetimeofdaytowakeup timeand beginflashing.
2.)Continue toholdthe ALARM1orALARM2button and press the /HR
button tosetthe wakeup hour.SetcorrectlyforAMorPM.
3.)Continue toholdthe ALARM1orALARM2button and press the /MIN
buttonstosetthe minutecorrectly,then releaseall buttons.
Wheneveryou wanttocheck the respectivewakeup timesetting simplypress the
ALARM1orALARM2button.The displaychangesfromtimeofdaytowakeup

AntennaInformation
AM
TheAMferritebarantenna isinside the cabinet. If
AMreception isunsatisfactorytryturning the entire
unitslightlyuntil you find the position thatprovides
the bestreception forthe desired station.
FM
Makesurethe FMlead wireantenna isextended toit’s full length.You mayhaveto
varythe direction ofthe wireantenna tofind the position thatprovidesthe best
reception.

PLAYINGCOMPACTDISCS
NormalPlayback
1.)Press the POWERbutton toswitchthe unit‘On’.The Powerindicatorappears
inthe display.
2.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortothe CD position.
3.)Open the CD door.
4.)Placeyourdisc on the centerspindlewiththe printed labelside facing up.
Press downnearthe centerofthe disc tomakesureitisfirmly‘seated’on the
spindle,and then closethe CD door.
5.)The disc will spinforafewsecondswhilethe playerreadsthe tableofcontents.
The displaywill showthe totalnumberoftracks forafewsecondsand then
returntothe correcttime.
Note:If the disc isinserted incorrectly,orifthe disc isbadlyscratched and
cannotbereadbytheplayer,“no”willappearonthedisplayforafewseconds,
and then the displayreturnstothe correcttime.
6.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginplayback.The displaywill briefly
show“01”(Track 1)and playback beginson track 1.Afterafewseconds
the displayreturnstothe correcttime.
4.)ToPausebrieflyduring playback press the PLAY/PAUSE button again.
The track numberflashesbrieflyand the sound stops,butthe disc continues
tospin.Press PLAY/PAUSE againtocancelpauseand resumeplayback.
5.)Toskipforwardorbackwardtoothertracks press the orbuttonss
repeatedlyuntil the desired track numberappearsinthe display.Playback will
beginon the selected track.
7.)Tostop playback atanytimepress the STOPbutton.Afterthe lasttrack hass
played the disc stopsautomatically.Open the CDdoorand removeyourdisc.

To StartPlayback FromASpecificTrack
Load yourdisc and waituntil the displayshowsthe totalnumberoftracks.Press
the orbuttonstoselectthe desired track.Whilethe track numberisstill
flashing press the PLAY/PAUSE button.Playback will beginon the selected
track and continue until the end ofthe disc.
High SpeedMusicSearch
You can searchrapidlyforwardorbackwardwithinatrack tolocateaspecific
musicalpassage.Depress and holdthe orbuttonstobeginhigh speed
search.The displaywill showthe currenttrack and the playermovesrapidlyforward
orbackward.When you reachthe desired passage releasethe orbutton
and normalplayback resumes.
Note:The volumelevelisautomaticallyreduced during high speed musicsearch.
RandomPlayback
Tolisten tothe tracks on adisc inrandomorder:
•Turnthe power‘On’,setFUNCTIONtoCD,load yourdisc and waituntil the
totaltrack numberisdisplayed.
•Press RANDOMbutton once.The RANDOMindicatorcomes‘On’.
•Press PLAY/PAUSE button.The playerwill selectatrack atrandomand
playback beginson thattrack.The selected track numberappearsinthe display
forafewseconds.
Aftereachtrack hasplayed oncethe playerstopsautomatically.Tocancelrandom
playback atanytime,press the RANDOMbutton again.The RANDOMindicator
goes‘Off’

PLAY/PAUSE button.The selected track will be repeated continuously..
All Tracks Repeat
•Load yourdisc and waitforthe totaltrack numberdisplay.
•Press REPEATbutton twice.The REPEATindicatorremains‘On’.
•Press PLAY/PAUSE button.All tracks will be repeated continuously..
Tocancelrepeatplayback press the REPEATbutton until the REPEATindicator

ProgrammedPlayback
The CDplayerinthisunithasa20 track programmablememorywhichallowsyou
toprogramanydisc toplayjustthe tracks you wanttohearinthe exactorderthat
you wanttohearthem.You mayprogramatrack ortracks toplaymorethan once
ifdesired.
Note:Programming can onlybe done whilethe playerisinthe Stop mode.If adisc
isplaying press the STOPbutton tostop playback beforeperforming the
programming stepsbelow.
1.)Turnthe unit‘On’,selectthe CD function and load the desired disc inthe
player.Waituntil the playerreadsthe disc and the displayshowsthe totaltrack
number.
2.)Press the PROGRAMbutton.The PROGRAMindicatorflashesand the display
shows“P01”indicating thatyou can selectthe firsttrack tobe programmed.
3.)Press the orbuttonstoselectthe firsttrack.When the desired trackck
numberappearsonthedisplaypressthePROGRAMbuttonagain.Theselected
track isentered inprogrammemorynumber1and the displayadvancesto
“P02”.
4.)Press the orbuttonstoselectthe nexttrack tobe programmed,andnd
press the PROGRAMbutton toenterthattrack inthe memory.
5.)Repeatstep 4toprogramup to20 tracks inthe memory.
6.)Afteryou haveprogrammed all the desired tracks press the PLAY/PAUSE
button tobeginprogrammed playback.The PROGRAMindicatorstopsflashing
and remains‘On’.Playback will beginon the firsttrack you programmed and
continue until all programmed tracks havebeen played.

continue flashing foran additional10 seconds.If you press the PLAY/PAUSE
button during that10 second period,playback ofthe programmed trackss
will begin.If the PROGRAMindicatorstopsflashing beforeyou press the PLAY/
PAUSE button,the playerexitsthe programmed playback mode and
playback will beginon track 1asusual.Toplaythe programmed tracks press
the PROGRAMbutton againand then press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
•Afterall programmed tracks haveplayed the playerstopsbutthe PROGRAM
indicatorremains‘On’and the programremainsinthe memory.If you press
the PLAY/PAUSE button the programmed tracks will playagain.
•TocleartheprogramfromthememoryafterthediscstopspressthePROGRAM
button and then press the STOPbutton.The PROGRAMindicatorgoess
‘Off’and the programiscleared.Opening the CDdooralsoclearsthe program.
Howeverthe programcannotbe cleared bypressing the POWERbutton to
shutthe unit‘Off’,orbyswitching tothe radiofunction.
ProgramRepeat
You mayusethe Programand Repeatfeaturestogethertorepeataprogrammed
sequenceoftracks.Simplyenterthe desired tracks inthe programmemoryas
described above,then press the REPEATbutton twicetoselect‘Repeat/All’(the
Repeatand Programindicatorswill bothcome‘On’).Press PLAY/PAUSE to
beginProgramRepeatplayback.

Thisunitgivesyou the option ofwaking toan electronicbuzzeralarm,theAM/FM
radio,orthe CD player.You mayalsoprogramthe CD playertowakeyou toa
specifictrack orseriesoftracks ifdesired.
NOTE:Whicheveralarmmode you select–Buzzer,RadioORCD –will applyto
bothalarms.
Firstpress the ALARM1orALARM2button tocheck the wakeup timesetting.
Adjustthe wakeup timeifnecessary.Referto“SETTINGTHEWAKE UPTIMES”
on page 8.
Wake To Alarm
1.)Setthe ALARMSELECTORswitchtoAL1,AL2,orAL1+2.
2.)Setthe ALARMMODEswitchto‘BUZZER’.The ALM1,ALM2,orboth
indicatorsappearsinthe display.
3.)Atthe selected wakeup timethe electronicbuzzerturns‘On’.It will continue
for60 minutesand then turn‘Off’and resetitselfforthe following day.
4.)Tostop the buzzerimmediately,press the POWERbutton.The buzzerstops
and the alarmresetsitselfforthe following day.
5.)Tocancelthe alarmcompletelysetthe ALARMMODEswitchto‘Off’.The
Alarmindicatordisappears.
Wake To Radio
1.)Setthe ALARMSELECTORswitchtoAL1,AL2,orAL1+2.
2.)Turnthe radio‘On’,tune tothe desired band and station,adjustthe volumeto
the desired leveltowakeyou up,and turnthe radio‘Off’again.
3.)SettheALARMMODEswitchto‘AUTO’.TheALM1,ALM2,orbothindicators
appearsinthe display.
4.)Atthe selected wakeup timethe radioturnson.It will playfor60 minutes,then
shutoff and resetitselfforthe following day.

•Programthe specifictrack orseriesoftracks asusual.
Referto“Programmed Playback”on page 13 ifnecessary.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginprogrammed playback and adjust
the volumetothe desired leveltowakeyou up.

Forprivatelistening withoutdisturbing othersconnectasetofstereo headphones
(notincluded)tothe PHONES Jack on the rightside cabinet. The built-inspeakers
automaticallyshutoff when stereo headphonesareconnected tothe headphone
jack.When using stereo headphonesalways startwiththe volumecontrolsettoa
lowleveland graduallyincreaseuntil you find the desired level.

CompactDisc Care
•Toremoveadisc fromitsstorage case,press downon the centerofthe caseand lift
the disc out, holding itcarefullybythe edges.
•Treatthe disc carefully.Handlethe disc onlybyitsedges.Neverallowyourfingersto
comeincontactwiththe shiny,unprinted side ofthe disc.
•Donotattachanytape,stickers,etc.tothe disc label.
•Clean the disc periodicallywithasoft, lint-free,drycloth.Neverusedetergentsor
abrasivecleanerstoclean the disc.If necessary,useaCD cleaning kit.
•If adisc skipsorgetsstuck on asection ofthe disc,itisprobablydirtyordamaged
(scratched).
•When cleaning the disc,wipe instraightlinesfromthe centerofthe disc tothe outer
edge ofthe disc.Neverwipe incircularmotions.
