— WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switch; do
not use any phone in your building.
• Leave the building immediately.
• Immediately call your gas supplier
from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the
gas supplier’s instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier,
call the re department.
— Installation and service must be
performed by a qualied installer,
service agency or the gas supplier.

Retain this manual for future reference.

LOG INSTALLATION PREPARATION
LOG PLACEMENT
The positioning of logs is critical to safe and clean operation
of this replace. Sooting and other problems may result if the
logs are not properly and rmly positioned in the replace.
BEFORE BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION:
1. Remove barrier screen and glass door on replace using
instructions from the replace manual.
2. Remove the burner cover. Using a screwdriver push up pins
6, 7 and 8 for both model applications. See Figures 2 and 3.
3. Place burner cover into replace.
4. Place logs in position as shown in Figure 1 and the following
pages. DO NOT force holes into the logs. Install using the
holes located in each log.
NOTICE: Log Index Letter (G) only used on LS42. See Figure 1.
EMBER AND COAL PLACEMENT
After placing logs into position, place dime-sized pieces of
glowing embers over the burner surface. A single layer is
sufcient; do not over-apply. See Figure 4.

Apply loose material (embers) per instruction manual. DO
NOT apply extra material not supplied with this appliance.
All previously applied loose material (embers) must be
removed prior to reapplication. Do not cover large ports
with loose material (embers).
