operationally reliable. They have left the factory in a faultless condition concerning safety
regulations.
1.2. Materials and Construction of Water Meters
WT-Series, Electronic Woltmann water meter, is manufactured from materials of
adequate strength and durability. The design and the manufacturing materials have been
selected to withstand the MID (2014/32/EU) and OIML (R 49:2013) requirements. All used
materials are not adversely affected by the water temperature variations, within the working
temperature range.
Ambient temperature range +5 °C to +55 °C.
Water temperature range T30
Ambient relative humidity range
0 % to 100 %, except for remote
indicating devices where the range shall
be 0 % to 93 %.
【Table 1: Temperature & Humidity Range】
WT-Series is fitted with a metrological controlled display. The display, the calculator, is
readily accessible to the customer, without requiring the use of any tool. All parts of the
water meter, in contact with the flowing water, are manufactured from materials which are
conventionally known to be non-toxic, non-contaminating, and biologically inert.
The complete water meter, material of water meter body and material of another
component, is manufactured from materials which are resistant to internal and external
corrosion or which are protected by a suitable surface treatment. The plastic material
components and for brass body of water meter are manufactured from materials which are
conventionally known to be non-toxic, non-contaminating and biologically inert. The
indicating device of the water meter is protected by a transparent window with the suitable
cover provided as additional protection for the indicating device. In order to prevent and
eliminate the condensation, the desiccants are provided on the underside of the window of a

WT-Series is also equipped with sealing, which is used to prevent physical damages of
the water meter, so as not to facilitate the perpetration of fraud. The sealing is provided
before every water meter is ready to be used and installed. This is used to guarantee that the
metrological parameters will not be changed. If the sealing is damaged, it means that the
water meter data is not valid and illegal events have happened.
Last but not the least, every design, composition, and construction of WT-Series water
meter dose not exploit the MPE or favor any party.

1.4. Introduction of Woltmann Water Meter
WT-Series is a Woltmann-type water meter designed for measuring bulk flows of cold
potable water for revenue billing in commercial or industrial applications and distribution
system monitoring. WT-Series is manufactured from the highest quality materials for
maximum resistance to wear and corrosion. It features low starting flow rate, large turn
down ratio, stable measurements, low head loss, easy maintenance and installation. The
water meter has been produced according to standard EN 14154. The meter, designed to
measure the water consumption, has been proved a long-term reliable and accurate water
meter. WT-Series can provide management information to assist with effective distribution
management, reduce water losses from leakage and improve customer service. The
measuring principle of WT-Series water meter is as follows:
As water flows through the inlet of the flow straightener, the impeller bearing will push
the impeller to rotate. The impeller bearing is equipped with permanent magnets. The water
meter has sensing components which can detect the rotation and send signals to the
electronic register. The electronic register will receive the magnetic signals and then
transform the magnetic signals into flow rates. All flow rate data can be shown on the
electronic register.

2.5. Accuracy
WT-Series is designed and manufactured in a way that its errors (of indication) do not
exceed the maximum permissible errors (MPEs), which is based on accuracy class 2 water
meters. Equipped with electronic devices, WT-Series is designed and manufactured in a
way that significant faults do not occur when it is exposed to the disturbance specified in
Performance tests and tests involving the electronic part of a water meter or its devices,
according to OIML (R 49:2013).
The MPE for the upper flow rate zone (Q2 ≤ Q ≤ Q4) is ±2 %, for temperatures from
0.1°C to 30 °C, and ±3 % for temperatures greater than 30 °C.
The MPE for the lower flow rate zone (Q1 ≤ Q < Q2) is ±5 % regardless of the
temperature range.
【Picture 5:Error Chart】
2.5.1. Reverse flow
WT-Series is not designed to measure reverse flow, and the volume passed during
reverse flow will be subtracted from the indicated volume and the water meter will
record forward flow and reverse flow separately. In addition, the water meter will
withstand accidental flow at a flow rate up to Q3 without deterioration or change its
metrological properties for forward flow.
