the life cycle of the device: from product identification, incoming acceptance and storage, to
mounting, connection, operation and commissioning through to troubleshooting,

2 Basic safety instructions
2.1 Requirements for the personnel
The personnel for installation, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance must fulfill the
following requirements:
‣Trained, qualified specialists must have a relevant qualification for this specific function
and task.
‣Are authorized by the plant owner/operator.
‣Are familiar with federal/national regulations.
‣Before starting work, read and understand the instructions in the manual and
supplementary documentation as well as the certificates (depending on the application).
‣Follow instructions and comply with basic conditions.
The operating personnel must fulfill the following requirements:
‣Are instructed and authorized according to the requirements of the task by the facility's
owner-operator.
‣Follow the instructions in this manual.
2.2 Designated use
The FieldEdge SGC200 must be installed, connected and configured in accordance with the
instructions in this manual.
The FieldEdge SGC200 is not approved for hazardous areas.
2.3 Workplace safety
For work on and with the device:
‣Wear the required personal protective equipment according to federal/national
regulations.

2.4 Operational safety
Risk of injury!
‣Operate the device only if it is in proper technical condition, free from errors and faults.
‣The operator is responsible for interference-free operation of the device.
Modifications to the device
Unauthorized modifications to the device are not permitted and can lead to unforeseeable
dangers:
‣If modifications are nevertheless required, consult with Endress+Hauser.
2.5 Product safety
The FieldEdge SGC200 meets the legal requirements of the relevant EU directives.
Endress+Hauser has affixed the CE mark as confirmation that the FieldEdge SGC200 has been
successfully tested.
2.6 Device-specific IT security
2.6.1 Access via Bluetooth® wireless technology
Signal transmission via Bluetooth® wireless technology uses a cryptographic technique
tested by Fraunhofer AISEC.
• Connection via Bluetooth® is not possible without specific Endress+Hauser devices.
• Only one point-to-point connection between one device and one smartphone or tablet is
established.
3 Product description
3.1 Function
The FieldEdge SGC200 enables the connection of Endress+Hauser devices to the
Netilion Cloud via Bluetooth. The FieldEdge transmits device IDs, device readings and status
information. Connection to the web is via an integrated LTE modem with a global SIM card.
The FieldEdge is configured via the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app.
You can use the transmitted data via the following offers:
• Netilion Connect or
• Netilion Services
Netilion Connect
The transmitted data can be retrieved directly via a software interface (REST JSON Application
Programming Interface (API)) and integrated into a user application.
The Application Programming Interface (API) is provided as part of the Netilion Connect
Subscription.

4.1 Incoming acceptance
• Check the packaging for visible damage arising from transportation.
• To avoid damage, remove the packaging with care.
• Keep all the accompanying documents.
The system may not be put into operation if the contents are found to be damaged
beforehand. In this case refer to the information on https://netilion.endress.com/legal/terms-
of-service. Return the system to Endress+Hauser in the original packaging where possible.

5 Installation
5.1 Installation conditions
Please note the following to ensure correct operation of the FieldEdge SGC200:
• Fit the LTE antenna supplied or ordered as an optional extra on the device
• Connect the device to a voltage supply.
• Use the SmartBlue app to determine the best location for the device → 15
• The device can be used in buildings and outdoors and has IP67 protection from immersion.
• Can be installed up to a maximum altitude of 2 000 m (6 562 ft) above sea level.
• Supply voltage 8 to 30 VDC
• Permitted voltage fluctuation ± 10 %
• Input current 0.2 A
• Pollution degree 4 in accordance with IEC 61010
• Ambient temperature range –40 to 80 °C (–40 to 176 °F)
• Humidity 10 to 95 %
• Vibration resistance in accordance with IEC 60068-2-64 and DIN EN 60068-2-64:
20 to 2 000 Hz (1 m/s) 2 Hz
Only use the LTE antenna provided or the optional remote antenna; otherwise the
operating permit will lose its validity.

The mounting bracket is suitable for installation on a wall and on pipes with the
following diameters: 45 to 60 mm (1.77 to 2.36 in).
5.2.2 Mounting the LTE antenna
Screw the LTE antenna provided or the optional remote LTE antenna onto the screw thread
on the FieldEdge.
A remote LTE antenna (3 m) is optionally available to order. www.endress.com/sgc200
5.3 Post-installation check
Are the mounted components undamaged (visual inspection)?
Do all the components meet the required specifications? For example:
• Ambient temperature
• Humidity

Are all the securing screws tightened securely?
Is the LTE antenna mounted on the FieldEdge?
6 Electrical connection
6.1 Connection conditions
NOTICE
Cause of damage: Antenna is not installed.
If the antenna is not installed, this may damage the device.
‣Never connect the device to the supply voltage without the antenna installed.
‣Never operate the device without the antenna installed.
The following conditions must be met:
• Ensure the cable is de-energized when connecting to the FieldEdge SGC200
• Please follow the connection information in this manual
• Supply voltage 8 to 30 VDC
• Permitted voltage fluctuation ± 10 %
• Input current 0.2 A
The power unit must meet the following requirements:
• The power unit must be certified in accordance with IEC 60950-1 or IEC61010-1
• The power unit must comply with the manufacturer's specification in order to guarantee the
required level of protection.
• If using an external power supply with more than 10 A or 16 A, install an external fuse with
10 A or 16 A.
• If the power supply is installed outside, it must be certified for outdoor applications.
• If the power supply is not certified for outdoor applications, it must be installed in the
building.
The wiring must meet the following requirements:
• Wire cross-section 0.5 mm²
• Temperature resistance of 105 °C (221 °F)

6.2.1 Ensuring the degree of protection
The device meets the requirements for IP67 degree of protection.
NOTICE
Cause of damage: Opening the FieldEdge SGC200
IP67 degree of protection is voided.
‣The housing of the FieldEdge SGC200 must not be opened.
6.3 Post-connection check
Are the system, devices and cables undamaged (visual check)?
Do the cables comply with the requirements?
Do the installed cables have adequate strain relief?
Does the supply voltage of the components match the specifications on the nameplate?
Is the terminal assignment correct?
Is the housing cover locked?
Are all the cable glands tightened securely?
7 Operation options
The FieldEdge SGC200 can be operated via the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app → 16.

8 System integration via SmartBlue app
Signal transmission via wireless Bluetooth technology uses an encryption method tested by a
third party (Fraunhofer AISEC). Without the SmartBlue app, the device is not visible via
Bluetooth. One point-to-point connection is established between the device and a smartphone
or tablet.
The SmartBlue App is available to download for mobile terminals with Android in the Google
Play Store and for devices with iOS in the Apple App Store.

appears.

9 Commissioning
9.1 Function check
Has a Bluetooth connection been established between the FieldEdge SGC200 and the Bluetooth
field devices? The range is dependent on the ambient conditions and is typically 20 m.
Pay attention to the range specifications of the field devices.
Has a connection been established between the device and a cell phone network?
Has a connection been established between the device and the connected field devices?
9.1.1 Determining the device location
The cellular network and the field devices to be connected must be accessible at the device
location via the SmartBlue app. The FieldEdge SGC200 is not needed to determine the
location. A cellular-enabled device with the SmartBlue App app installed is sufficient.

1. Start the SmartBlue app.
2. Tap on the icon (accessible field devices).
The FieldEdge SGC200 and all field devices that are accessible from the SmartBlue
app at the current position are displayed.
3. Use the cellular-enabled device to determine the location for the installation of the
FieldEdge SGC200 by changing the position. The cellular network and all of the field
devices to be connected must be accessible.
When selecting the location for the FieldEdge SGC200 ensure that the connection to the
cell phone network is good. To improve the connection, use the remote LTE antenna,
which is optionally available to order.
9.2 Configuring the device
The device must be installed at the specified location and supplied with power.
9.2.1 Connecting the device to the SmartBlue app
Use the following access details when logging in for the first time:
• User name: admin
• Password: Serial number of FieldEdge SGC200, as specified on the nameplate
The password must be changed after you have logged in for the first time.
1. Start the SmartBlue app.
The FieldEdge SGC200 devices that are accessible from the SmartBlue app at the
current position are displayed.
2. Select the FieldEdge SGC200 using the serial number in the TAG.

3. Enter username and password.

connection status of the field devices is "Not connected".
9.2.2 Checking the cellular network connection status of devices
The device is supplied with a pre-configured cell phone connection. The green check mark in
the "Cellular Network" section of the main menu confirms that the device status is OK.

9.2.3 Checking the Netilion Cloud connection
The device is supplied with a pre-configured Cloud connection. The green check mark
confirms that the device is connected to the Netilion Cloud.
You can also check the time of the last update in the Netilion Account. Path: ID > EdgeDevices
