EDG1228 SA-EL Quick Start Guide
NOTE: It’s very important that you install the software
before connecting the SA-EL to your computer.
The following instructions will explain how to install the EDG1228 SA-EL and the accompanying
software.
1. Insert the CD into your computer’s CD drive. You will see the following menu screen:
2. Click on Step 1. USB Driver Install.
3. Once the driver is installed, connect the SA-EL to the USB port. Windows will detect and
install the SA-EL.
4. Select Step 2. mobile PhoneTools Install.
5. During the software installation you will be given the option to install the Persistent
Connection Features. The Persistent Connection Features are:
a. Start mobile PhoneTools upon boot-up of your computer; and
b. Automatic Internet connection (if the connection is dropped, mobile PhoneTools
will automatically reconnect).
6. After the software is installed, mobile PhoneTools will prompt you to restart your
computer.

7. Launch mobile PhoneTools from the desktop icon. Mobile PhoneTools will detect the
SA-EL.
8. If you selected the Persistent Connection Features, mobile PhoneTools will automatically
create a GPRS/EDGE data connection. By default, mobile PhoneTools uses your
carrier’s default APN, Username and Password.
9. If you did not install the Persistent Connection Features click on the Globe Icon to
create a GPRS/EDGE data connection. Follow the Internet Connection wizard. Select
GPRS as the connection type with no fallback connection. Select Launch Connection
when the wizard is finished.
10. If you are using a custom APN from your carrier, select MENU-Setup-Internet
Connections. Right-click on the icon and select Properties to change you settings.
11. To start or end a data connection click on the Globe icon from the mobile PhoneTools
Manager.
