TROUBLESHOOTING
Installation

Wash Cycle (EZ 3710 / EZ 1710)
Problem Possible Cause Repair Procedure
1a. No power input.
1a. Check that the cord is plugged
in, and circuit breaker or fuse is OK.
Test unit power switch.
1b. No water pressure.
1b. Check that fill hoses are
connected that the water supply is
turned on, and hoses are not
kinked.
1c. Drain outlet below 20" (water
siphoning out)
1c. Route drain hose through a
clamp on the rear of the machine, at
least 24" above the floor.
1d. Door not closed tightly 1d. Close door firmly, so that it
latches.
1e. Door Switch/Lock.
1e. Set the washer knob to
position#3. Switch On the power.
Test for 115V AC across Pin#11 of
small pressure switch and
terminal#2 on the control module. If
present the door switch is fine, if not
present the door switch is defective.
1f. Pressure Switch. (test with no
water in the tub)
1f. Switch Off the power. Check for
continuity between pins 11 & 12 of
small pressure switch, It should read
zero resistance, if there is any
reading then the small pressure
switch is bad. Similarly there should
be continuity (zero resistance)
between pins 11 & 12 and pins 21 &
22 of large pressure.
1g. Timer
1g. Switch On the power. Check for
115V AC across the terminals of
EVC(Hot water valve) & EVF(Cold
water valve), if 115V is present the
timer contacts are good or else
defective.
1. Won't fill
1i. Water inlet valves.
1i. If 115 vac is present across a
water inlet valve coil and water
pressure is present, the machine
should fill. If not, the valve may be
defective.
2. Fills, won't
agitate 2a. Belt. 2a. Check belt, adjust tension.

3a. Filter
3a. Switch off the power. Remove
foreign objects if any from the filter
housing. Clean filter and proceed to
3d.
3b. Drain hose 3b. Check for kinks or blockage.
3c. Drain
3c. Drain standpipe inlet more than
36" above the floor. Blocked drain.
(direct connection)
3d. Pump
3d.Turn pump impeller manually, it
moves in jerks of 180 degrees
because of the presence of magnets
on the rotor, weak magnets will
produce mild jerks.
3. Won't drain
3e. Timer
3e. Set Wash timer knob to Off-Dry
and switch On the power. Test for
115V AC at the pump connector, if
present the pump is bad, if 115 is
not present the timer is bad.
4a. Not leveled. 4a. Adjust leveling legs, tighten lock
nuts.
4b. Foreign object in tub. 4b. Check tub, remove object.
4. Noisy
4c. Shock Absorber. 4c. Check that attachment bolts are
tight.
5a. Shipping brackets attached. 5a. Remove & store shipping
brackets.
5b. Unstable floor
5b. Remove carpeting, move to
another location, or install
underlayment.
5. Vibrates
5c. Not leveled properly 5c. Adjust leveling legs, tighten lock
nuts.
5d. Drum not leveled
5d. If vibration persists then open
the top cover and see if the drum is
leveled up. If not the position of the
springs holding the drum may have
to be adjusted.
6. Water leaks
from detergent
drawer
6a. Not leveled. 6a. Adjust leveling legs, tighten lock
nuts.

6b. Spinning with water in tub. 6b. Not draining. See Won't drain
6c. Motor (tachometer).
6c. Check tachometer resistance on
Pins 6&7 at the Electronic Module.
It should be 23 Ohms. See “Testing
the Drive Motor” below
7a. Water supply off. 7a. Check water pressure at inlet
valve connections.
7b. Filling interrupted. 7b. See Won't Fill.
7. Timer doesn't
advance
7c. Timer.
7c. Test timer motor resistance:
2000 ohms max. Set to different
cycle (e.g. Delicates) & check timer
function different cycle (e.g.
Delicates).
8. Water flows
into tub with
machine off.
8a. Water inlet valves leaking.
8a. Identify leaking valve. Remove
and clean by back flushing to
remove foreign material. Replace
valve if cleaning does not correct
the problem.
9a. Pressure Switch.
9a.Unplug unit. With excessive
water still in tub, check for
continuity between terminals 21 and
22. Replace pressure switch if test
indicates continuity.
9. Machine
overfills.
9b. Pressure Switch Hose.
9b. Drain machine, then replace
kinked or leaking pressure switch
hose.
10a. Door lock enabled. 10a. Water in tub. See Won't drain.
10. Door won't
open. 10b. Pressure Switch.
10b. Unplug the unit and turn wash
timer knob to off position. Wait two
minutes for door switch to unlock.
Door should open now. If not the
door switch latch is mechanically
stuck. Put one hand behind the door
switch and push the metallic plate
(latch) forward towards the drum,
simultaneously trying to open the

door with the other hand.
11a. Water in tub. 11a. See Won't drain.
11. Clothes wet
at end of wash
cycle. 11b. Inadequate final spin. 11b. See Won't Spin.
TESTING THE DRIVE MOTOR
Check Resistance as under
Pin 2 & 6 = 7R9
Pin 3 & 7 = 11R9
Pin 4 & 8 = 23R0 (Tachometer)

Dry Cycle (EZ 3710 / EZ 1710)
Problem Possible Cause Repair Procedure
1a. No power input.
1a. Check that cord is plugged in, and
circuit breaker or, if fuse is OK. Test
unit power switch.
1b. Door not closed. 1b. Close door firmly, so that it latches
tightly.
1. No tumble
action.
1c. Belt. 1c. Check belt, adjust tension.
2a. No Heat coming into the
drum
2a. Check the Fuse Link according to
the instructions in Appendix A and
replace if necessary.
2b. Timer not advanced beyond
the cool-down period.
2b. Set dryer timer for times longer
than 15 minutes.
2c. Thermostats open. 2c. Check for continuity, at room
temperature.
2d. Thermal fuse open. 2d. Check for continuity.
2e. Heating elements. 2e. Check resistance: 25 ohms
maximum open.
2. Clothes
cold and damp
at the end of
the dry cycle.
2f. Dryer timer. 2f. Test for 115 vac between terminals
B1 & 22 of Heat Timer
3a. Blocked filter. 3a. Remove, clean, and replace filter.
3b. *No cold water supply. 3b. Cold water required for dryer to
function properly.
3. Clothes hot
and damp at
the end of the
dry cycle
3c. * Machine not leveled. 3c. Condenser water flow disturbed.
Level unit and retest.

3d. Blower impeller.
3d. Remove and clean. Also check to
see if condensing channel is clogged
with lint.
3e. * Condenser water valve
inoperative.
3e. Test for 110 vac across the valve
terminals. If present, valve may be
defective.
3f. * Blower housing to Tub Seals
mismatched.
3f. Disassemble blower housing from
tub. Ensure that seals are positioned
properly & reassemble.
4a. High suds detergent. 4a. Use Equator detergent, or other
low-suds brand.
Excessive detergent. Measure detergent, using 2 tablespoons
or 1/8 cup maximum.
4b. Hot and cold water hoses
reversed.
4b. Connect hoses to the proper inlet
valves.
4. Long drying
time.
4c. Dryer section malfunction. 4c. See #2 and #3 above for tests to
perform.
5a. Over-drying. 5a. Set dryer timer for a shorter cycle
5b. High suds detergent. 5b. Use Equator detergent, or other
low-suds brand.
5. Clothes stiff
and wrinkled.
5c. Excessive detergent. 5c. Measure detergent, using 1
tablespoon.*
