ERA 3* High Security Euro Cylinder
Fitting Instructions
Caution
Please read prior to installation:
• Extreme care should be taken when preparing doors for hardware installation and lock cases/ striking plates must be correctly
square and aligned in the door. Furthermore, any cylinder escutcheons must be correctly fitted before any cylinder is fitted as
any misalignment of either the lock case or escutcheon will make the installation of the cylinder difficult.
• Do not attempt to force any security cylinder (in particular a 3 Star cylinder) under any circumstances as this will damage or
snap the cylinder and prevent it from functioning correctly.
• The ERA 3 Star cylinder is designed and tested to the requirements of TS007: 2014 + A1: 2018 to give resistance against the
most commonly used forms of attack and has a snap feature which will render the cylinder inoperable in the event of the
cylinder snapping. Therefore it is critically important that extreme care is taken when fitting these cylinders as any excessive
force applied during or after installation in the door could result in the snap feature activating.
TS007
User Statement
This cylinder offers resistance to the commonly used types of attack. No specific security
hardware is required but installing this three-star cylinder in conjunction with security
hardware complying with TS007 will increase attack resistance still further.
Security hardware can be of several types, including a handle with a reinforced backplate, an
escutcheon or a device which is concealed behind the handle backplate. In all cases, the
purpose is to protect your cylinder from forced attack.
Installation
To fit a high security cylinder you will require:
Please refer to the following installation instructions and diagrams to aid fitting of
the product. DO NOT apply force to the cylinder body or key bow at any stage
during alignment checking process. When installing a new cylinder it is impor-
tant to select the correct size and style of cylinder for your door. You need to
measure accurately to ensure that the new cylinder is the correct size for the lock
and the external half is long enough to sit flush against the external handle when
fitted, without too much of the cylinder protruding (maximum of 3mm).
IMPORTANT: the security protection is on the external (EXT) side of the cylinder,
so you must ensure that the cylinder is fitted/measured the correct way round, so
the EXT side of the cylinder is visible from the outside of the door. This is denoted
by EXT marked on the cylinder itself.

Change a cylinder
If the cylinder has been removed, using a ruler, measure from the centre of the cam to the edge of the cylinder on the
Internal side (INT) and then measure from the centre of the cam to the edge of the cylinder on the External side (EXT) in
mm. Note: Your cylinder may be longer on one side than the other. E.g. 37mm Internal and 40mm External. You do not need to
measure the INT side on a Single cylinder.
To measure a cylinder, whilst still in the door, using a ruler, measure from the centre of the screw hole to the end of cylinder
(see diagram overleaf). Measurement (INT) is the centre to the edge of the cylinder which is inside facing. Measurement (EXT) is
the centre to the edge of the cylinder which is outside facing.

To remove your existing cylinder,
open the door. With the key
inserted into the cylinder, rotate
slightly to align cam with cylinder
body to allow installation.
On the open edge of the door, look
for the larger screw which falls in
line with the bottom of the
cylinder and remove / loosen to
allow cylinder to be removed from
the door.
Measure each side of the existing
cylinder in mm (see above), be
sure to note which is the Internal
(INT) and External (EXT) side of
the cylinder to ensure you get the
correct size. Purchase your new

Fitting Instructions
Once the cylinder is in place, secure in position with the
retaining screw provided (may need to be cut down to
size). You may need to re-install / tighten door
hardware. NEVER use power tools to install retaining
screw.
To fit the new cylinder, you MUST firstly ensure that the
external (EXT) side of the cylinder is facing outside the
property. Insert the cylinder into the door. NEVER force
cylinder into place. Excessive force will damage
the product and invalidate the warranty. Please note: the
maximum projection from hardware = 3mm
Lock installation must be horizontal with the door and
the cylinder at 90° to the door. With the key inserted
into the cylinder, slightly turn, so the cam is positioned
centrally to allow the cylinder to slide easily
into the door.
With door open, operate cylinder from both sides to
ensure smooth operation. NEVER use the key as a
handle to open or close the door. Repeat process with
door closed ensuring deadbolt engages correctly
with the keep. Adjust if necessary.
Always ensure the key is inserted fully into the cylinder before
attempting to rotate the key. If resistance is felt in operation
remove and re-insert the key. Do not use excessive force to
rotate the key as this could damage the key or cylinder/ lock.
Always obtain official ERA keys that are cut from code. Please do
not use copy or traced keys. A key that is not in tolerance with
the correct cut depths and spaces could possibly create issues in
operation and in some instances render the cylinder inoperable. A
correctly cut key will prevent this.
