INSTRUCTION GUIDE FOR ESKIMO HAND AUGERS
Thank you for purchasing an Eskimo® Hand Ice Auger from Ardisam, Inc. We
have worked to ensure that the ice auger meets high standards for usability and
durability. With proper care, your ice auger will provide many years of service.
Applies to models: HD06, HD07, HD08 (Standard Blades) and BHA6 and BHA8
(Barracuda Blades).
BEFORE USING YOUR ICE AUGER, REMEMBER:
1) Always leave your blade protector on when not using your Eskimo hand auger.
The blades are sharp and can cause injury if proper precautions are not taken.
2) Be extremely careful when using your auger in shallow waters, as a rocky
water bottom can damage your blades and the auger if they come in contact.
3) Never try to adjust the cutting angles of your auger blades, especially by bending
them.The angles are specifically engineered and critical to the auger’s performance.
4) Always start a new ice hole instead of reopening an old one with your ice
auger. The sides of an old ice hole often freeze, shrinking the hole’s diameter.
This can cause your auger to jam. Using your ice auger in these conditions
can damage the auger and blades.
5) When using your ice auger, remember that the under-surface of ice is often uneven.
This can cause your auger to become jammed as you break through the ice. If you
find yourself in this situation, do not force your auger. Lift it up approximately 1”and
make several half turns, lowering the drill 1/4”each turn until a clean hole is cut.
6) Never hit your auger on the ice when trying to start a hole, as this can bend your
auger and damage the blades. Lower your auger gently when starting to drill.
ASSEMBLY
To assemble your Eskimo hand auger, insert the pommel handlebar assembly into
the auger weldment. The handle can be adjusted to three different lengths (52”,
56” or 60”) by aligning the appropriate hole on the handle bar with the hole in the
auger weldment. To secure the handle in place, insert the wing bolt and tighten.

Ardisam, Inc., a manufacturing company, warrants this Eskimo Hand Auger to be free from defects in the material or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of
purchase. During the one-year warranty of this product, Ardisam will, at its discretion, furnish parts and labor to correct any defect caused by faulty material or workmanship. To
obtain warranty service and/or replacement instructions, you must have prior approval before shipping package by calling our customer service department at 1-800-345-6007
for a return material authorization number (RMA#). All items must be shipped prepaid. Ardisam, Inc. will at no charge, repair or replace, at their discretion, any defective part
which falls under the conditions stated above. Ardisam retains the right to change models, specications and price without notice.This product if used as intended, will give you

This warranty applies to the original owner with a proof of purchase and is not transferable. It supersedes all other warranties either expressed or implied and all other obligations
to liabilities on our part. Ardisam, Inc. does not assume, and does not authorize any other person to assume for us, any liability in connection with the sale of our products. The
warranty applies only to products which have not been subjected to negligent use, misuse, alteration, accident or repairs made by anyone not certied by Ardisam, Inc. This
guarantee is void unless the warranty card is properly lled out and received by Ardisam, Inc., within 30 days of purchase.
SHARPENING
Sharp blades make cutting through ice easier. If your auger becomes dull, a new
set of blades can be ordered from Eskimo. Eskimo also offers a blade exchange
program. Contact customer service at 1-800-345-6007 for more information.

If sharpening blades on your own, first remove the blades and then use a fine stone
to hone the upper surface only. Stoning on the wrong side, even just the slightest
amount, can damage the blade and make it ineffective. Blades must be razor sharp
with no nicks, dents or scratches, to work properly.

ESKIMO
Merci d’avoir acheté une tarière à glace à main Eskimo® d’Ardisam, Inc. Nous avons travaillé
pour nous assurer que la tarière à glace réponde à des standards élevés de fonctionnalité et
de durabilité. Avec des soins adéquats, votre tarière à glace vous offrira plusieurs années de
service.
Pour les modèles: HD06, HD07, HD08 (Lames Standard) et BHA6 et BHA8 (Lames
Barracuda).
AVANT D’UTILISER VOTRE TARIÈRE À GLACE, RAPPELEZVOUS:
1) Toujours laisser votre protecteur de lame en place lorsque vous n’utilisez pas votre tarière à
main Eskimo. Les lames sont tranchantes et peuvent causer des blessures si des précautions
appropriées ne sont pas prises.
2) Être extrêmement prudent lorsque vous utilisez votre tarière dans des eaux peu profondes,
puisque le fond rocailleux peut endommager vos lames et la tarière s’ils entrent en contact.
3) Ne jamais essayer d’ajuster les angles de coupe des lames de votre tarière, spécialement en
les pliant. Les angles sont conçus spécifiquement et sont essentiels pour la performance de
la tarière.
4) Toujours commencer un nouveau trou de glace au lieu de rouvrir un ancien avec votre
tarière à glace. Les côtés d’un ancien trou de glace gèlent souvent, ce qui diminue le
diamètre du trou. Ceci peut coincer votre tarière. Utiliser votre tarière à glace dans ces
conditions peut endommager la tarière et les lames.
5) Lorsque vous utilisez votre tarière à glace, ne pas oublier que la sous-surface de la glace est
souvent inégale. Ceci peut faire que votre tarière à glace se coincera lorsque vous brisez la
glace. Si vous vous retrouvez dans cette situation, ne forcez pas la tarière. Soulevez d’environ
1 po et faites plusieurs moitiés de tours, en abaissant la mèche de 1/4 po à chaque tour
jusqu’à ce qu’un trou égal soit coupé.
6) Ne jamais frapper votre tarière contre la glace lorsque vous essayez de commencer un trou,
puisque ceci peut plier votre tarière et endommager les lames. Abaissez délicatement votre
tarière lorsque vous commencez à percer.
ASSEMBLAGE
Pour assembler votre tarière à main Eskimo, insérer l’ensemble guidon pommeau dans
l’assemblage mécanosoudé de la tarière. La poignée peut être ajustée à trois différentes
longueurs (52 po, 56 po ou 60 po) en alignant le trou approprié du guidon avec le trou de
l’assemblage mécanosoudé de la tarière. Pour fixer la poignée en place, insérer le boulon à
oreilles et serrer.
AIGUISAGE
Des lames bien aiguisées facilitent la coupe de la glace. Si votre tarière devient émoussée,
de nouvelles lames peuvent être commandées chez Eskimo. Eskimo offre un programme
d’échange de lames. Contactez le service à la clientèle au 1-800-345-6007 pour plus
d’informations. Vous trouverez également les pièces de remplacement en visitant notre site

Si vous aiguisez les lames vous-même, enlevez d’abord les lames puis utilisez une pierre fine
pour aiguiser la surface supérieure seulement. Aiguiser le mauvais côté, même un peu, peut
endommager la lame et la rendre inefficace. Pour fonctionner correctement les lames doivent
être tranchantes comme une lame de rasoir, sans marques, bosses ou égratignures.
