Installation Instructions
Congratulations on choosing MixHits Radio for your in-store music source! Here are some basic
instructions for installation. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us.
When you open the box, you should find the following:
- Your new Mixhits player
- The power supply
- An Ethernet cable
- A black RCA cable
- A RCA “Y” adapter
- The manual from the manufacturer.

2
When you remove your player from its box, you will see that it has ports for connections on either
side. It will look like this:
In the majority of cases will need to connect only three cables to get the system going.
First, locate the power cord in the box and connect one end to the power inlet and plug the other end
into a normal power outlet on the wall.
Second, you will need to use the Ethernet cable to connect from your player’s LAN port to an
Ethernet switch or HUB so that the player can access the internet to receive music content.
Last, you will need to connect the black RCA cable from the STREAMING OUTPUT jack to your
existing amplifier. Once this is connected and your MixHits unit is powered up and has a couple of

3
minutes to start, your music should start playing if you have it properly connected to your amplifier.
Simply adjust the volume on your amplifier for the desired level.
Connecting your player to your amplifier:
Since can amplifiers differ greatly, here are some basic guidelines. We also have provided two
examples:
1) Your amplifier should have a jack on the back that will allow you to plug in a “RCA” type
cable like the picture above. It will probably be labeled “Aux” or “Program”. If so, plug one
end of the cable into your amplifier and the other end into the STREAMING OUTPUT port
of your MixHits player. You can adjust the level on the front of your amplifier using the
“Aux” or “Program” volume knob. If your amplifier has more than one “Aux” jack, you
should be able to use any of them. Just make sure that you are adjusting the
corresponding knob on the front. Some amplifiers have a switch that says “Mic/Aux”.
Make sure that the switch is in the “Aux” position.
2) If your amplifier does not have a “RCA” type jack, then you will have to connect it
differently.
This is a picture of the back of a Bogen brand amplifier.
Notice the jack labeled “Aux”. This is where one end of the cable with the “RCA” type connectors will
plug in. Plug the other end into the jack labeled STREAMING OUTPUT port on the MixHits player.
On this amplifier, you will also need to check on the front to make sure the switch labeled “Mic/Aux” is
in the “Aux” position.

4
In the upper right hand corner there are “Aux” jacks. Unfortunately, on this amplifier, the volume
adjustment for the “Aux” connections is directly beside it to the left. If you plug into one of these jacks
(either one would work), you will have to adjust your music volume by reaching around to the back of
the amplifier.
In order to adjust the volume from the front of the amplifier, you will need to connect to the “Program
hot” and “Program com” using a small Phillips screwdriver.
You will need a wire with a “RCA” type connector on each end. Cut the “RCA” connector off of one
end of the cable. Then carefully strip off about 1 inch of the outer insulation jacket. Once the outer
jacket is removed, you should see a wire mesh wrapped around a center insulated wire. Pull that
wire mesh back revealing the small insulated wire in the center and twist the mesh together. Then
carefully pull off about ¼ inch of the insulation on the center wire and twist it also. Attach the very
small center wire to the “Program hot” connection, and attach the twisted outer mesh to the “Program
com” connection. Make sure to not break the wires or allow them to touch together. You should now
be able to adjust the music level on the front of the amplifier by turning the “Program” knob.
Most other brands of amplifiers will connect similarly to one of the above examples. If you need
assistance, please have your amplifier brand name and model number available before you call. We
will be happy to help you get your system running.
If you have just received a new Bogen C10 amplifier from us, please connect the speaker wiring as
shown here:
