Portable Emergency Button

The Care@Home™ PERS Control Panel is the heart of Essence’s Care@Home™ PERS
solution, serving as a standalone Personal Emergency Response System (PERS). The
Control Panel features: an EMERGENCY CALL button, a RESET button, a hands-free
speaker phone, a backup battery, and a PSTN and/or cellular modem. LED indicators
display the system status.
The EMERGENCY CALL button
In case of an emergency, press the EMERGENCY CALL button to trigger a medical alarm
.
A siren sounds and the LED surrounding the EMERGENCY CALL button lights up in Red.
You can cancel the medical alarm by pressing the RESET button (abort time is 0-45
seconds). The Control Panel will attempt to connect to the Monitoring Station and
initiate a voice conversation.
NOTE: You can trigger an Emergency alert by pressing either the Portable
Emergency Button or the Stationary Emergency Button.
The RESET button
The RESET button is used for the following functions:
•Enable/disable the activity timer
•Cancel an active alarm
report in progress
•Clear indicators and
vocal reminders

The Control Panel provides the following LED indicators:

Push the ribbed tab at the
bottom of the back cover
Lift the cover off
4Turn the power switch ON.
3Connect the power cord
and close the back cover.

Insert a SIM-card (cellular model only)
and the backup battery - as illustrated
below.
2b For PSTN Model:
The Control Panel has 2 standard telepho-
ne sockets, located on the rear end - as
illustrated below.
Connect a telephone cable between the
wall socket and the LINE socket.
You may also connect a telephone device
to the PHONE socket.
5After completing this process –
make sure that the Control Panel is
functioning properly, by referring to the
LED indicators (review the indicators
table for reference).
Power Supply and Battery Installation
NOTE: Make sure that the power switch is in OFF status prior to installation.
The Speakerphone
The Control Panel can also be used as a speakerphone. Answering incoming calls is done
by pressing the EMERGENCY CALL button.
The Speakerphone functions like a standard speakerphone, as long as power is provided
by the external power supply. When operating on backup battery, only emergency calls
are allowed.
Adding a Peripheral
Peripherals can be added to the system by the Pairing process.
1. To add a peripheral, press the PAIRING button
(right side of the Control Panel) for 5 seconds.
2. The Control Panel beeps and the ring
around the EMERGENCY CALL button lights up
in Blue, with a circular movement effect.
3. Power-up the peripheral by inserting its batteries.
NOTE: The Portable Emergency Button requires no batteries. Simply press its button
for a few seconds.
•Upon successful pairing the Blue ring flashes twice and the Control Panel beeps.
•Upon unsuccessful pairing the Blue ring changes to Red and flashes twice and the Control
Panel emits a failed beep.
Additional reports sent by the Control Panel:
•Extreme temperature - Upon detection of extreme temperature on the premises -
the report is issued by zone number and the type of extreme temperature (Low or
High)
•Inactivity - Upon Activity Timer expiration or no activity detected following a
predefined period.
•Malfunctions - Upon device or Control Panel malfunction (e.g. low battery, tamper,
power failure, communication problems).
•Missing reminder - Upon a reminder not cleared by the user.
