Overview
The Paradigm P-TS7-E Wall-Mount Touchscreen can be installed in a
flush-mount back box or a surface-mount back box (available separately).
The P-TS7-E touchscreen connects to the Paradigm control system by
Ethernet and is powered either by Ethernet with PoE 802.3af or Auxiliary
Power 24 VDC.
• Ethernet Category 5 cable (or approved equal)
• Auxiliary Power (1.5 mm2[16 AWG]) typically a black and red wire
pair
Note:
All control wiring should be installed and terminated by a qualified installer and
should follow standard wiring installation practices. Leave approximately 25.4 cm (10 in) of
wiring in the back box for connection and to allow slack for future service needs.
For more information about terminating Cat5 cable, refer to the ETC Ethernet Cat5
Termination Kit Setup Guide.
Installation
Note:
Installation must follow all national and local codes for electrical equipment.
Install the Back Box
The touchscreen is supplied with an installation kit including hardware and electrical supplies for
most installation applications. Ensure the back box is clean and free of obstructions and that all
wiring is terminated correctly prior to powering the unit.
Part Number Description
7184A1502 7" Touchscreen Flush-Mount Back Box
7184A1503 7" Touchscreen Surface-Mount Back Box
1. For flush-mount installation, mount the back box flush to the stud and carefully cut the hole in
the wall so there are no gaps around the box. For surface-mount installation, mount the
surface-mount back box to a wall surface and secure it in place. Back box mounting hardware
is not provided.
Note:
As required, a trim ring is available to cover any excess rough-in gap. Contact ETC
or your authorized ETC dealer for availability.

2. The installation kit includes two lengths of screws, one length for depth adjustment of the
collar in the back box, and one longer length for securing the collar to the back box. Thread
the four M3 depth adjustment screws into the collar.
Note:
Depth adjustment screws are not required for surface-mount back box
installations.
3. Insert the mounting collar so that the mounting pins are at the top.
4. For flush-mount installations, turn the depth adjustment screws (if required) so that the
touchscreen sits even (flush) against the wall surface.
5. Insert the four M4 mounting screws through the collar and tighten into the back box
mounting holes.
Install the Termination Board
The installation kit provided includes a termination board and all termination supplies required for
Ethernet with Auxiliary Power or Ethernet with PoE, and ESD ground terminations.

and Auxiliary Power sources.
1. Pull all required wiring to the back box prior to
installing the termination board.
2. The termination board can be installed in any
orientation that best accommodates the
installed wiring. Position the termination
board on the standoffs in the back box and
secure with two M3x10mmpan head screws
provided.
3. Place the RJ45 Ethernet bracket assembly on
top of the remaining screw holes in the
termination board and secure it to the back
box.

Connect Ethernet
Note:
All Ethernet terminations must follow IEEE 802.3 and be terminated to the T568B
standard.
1. Terminate the network wiring in the provided RJ45 punchdown block using a standard
110punchdown tool (not provided). The connector is labeled for Cat5e wire termination
color code. Do not pre-strip the conductors, the punchdown connector provides insulation
displacement.
2. Snap the connector into the bracket.
Connect Auxiliary Power and ESDGround
Terminate the incoming wiring to the provided Auxiliary Power and ESDGround wire pigtails.
1. Connect the ESD ground wire pigtail.
a. Strip 11mm (7/16in) of insulation from the ends of
the station ground wire pigtail, provided in the
termination kit, and the incoming ground wire.
b. Use one WAGO®connector, provided in the
termination kit, to connect the station ESD ground
pigtail and the incoming ground. For stations using
grounded metal conduit, connect the ground pigtail
to the metal back box ground location.
c. Install the ESD ground wire pigtail to the spade terminal on the termination board.
2. Terminate and connect 24VDC Auxiliary Power.Use copper conductors only, typically a
1.5mm2(16AWG) black and red wire pair.
a. Strip 11 mm (7/16in) from the ends of each conductor (Aux Power pigtail provided and
the installed power wires).
b. Use the provided WAGO connectors to connect the power pigtail and the installed power
wires. One WAGO should be used for the red pair (power +)and one for the black wire
pair (power -). Open the terminal levers on the WAGO connector and insert the installed
wire and the lead from the pigtail to into the terminals, and then close the levers.
c. Install the two-position connector from the pigtail to the mating receptacle on the
termination board.

Install the Touchscreen
The touchscreen bracket is designed for two positions, service and operation. When installed so
that the pins are in the first slots on the bracket the touchscreen is held out at the bottom for
service.
Service Position
Operation Position
1. Install the RJ11 control cable provided in the installation kit to the RJ11 jack on the
termination board and to the receptacle on the touchscreen.
Note:
The RJ11 connection provides ground connection to the back box
and must always be installed.
2. Install the Ethernet RJ45 patch cable provided in the installation kit to the RJ45 jack on the
termination board and to the receptacle on the touchscreen.
3. Hold the touchscreen at a slight angle, insert the top of the unit into the collar and hook the
bracket onto the pins on each side of the collar.
4. To move the touchscreen from the service position to the operation position, lift to unhook
the pins and rotate the bottom inward until the touchscreen face is vertical.
5. Apply firm pressure simultaneously to the center of the left and right edges of the
touchscreen, pushing the unit inward until it audibly snaps onto the collar. When properly
installed, the touchscreen should not easily unsnap from the collar.
6. To remove the touchscreen, gently insert a flat blade screwdriver into the pry slot (indicated
in the image below) and unsnap the touchscreen from the collar. Then lift the bottom
upward slightly and rotate outward.
Indicators
When the touchscreen powers up, LEDs on the bottom of the touchscreen illuminate according to
the power and data activity, the unit will briefly display a startup screen, and will automatically
load a configuration if one is present. For more information about using the service panel or saving
or loading a configuration, see the
