Switch onthe DVDplayer andTVset. The DVDPlayer
output willautomatically beadjusted fromthe defaultvideo
output of480p/576p toa higher-resolution settingto match
that ofyour TVscreen, 720P, 1080i,or 1080p.The TVscreen
will nowshow the"eTEC" logo.Press theHDMI buttonon
the remotecontrol ofthe DVDplayer andyou canchange the
high-resolution settingof theDVD playerto, 720p,1080i, or
1080p. Oncethe high-resolutionsetting ofthe DVDplayer
changed, thehigh-resolution settingon theTVscreen image
is automaticallychanged.

problem, simplyconnect theDVD playerto yourTVset using

OPERATINGTHE
REMOTE CONTROL
Battery Installation
1. Pushdown andout onthe battery
compartment coverto removeit.
2. Insertthe two"AAA" batteriesinto the
battery compartmentof theremote control,
making surethe +and -signs onthe batteries
and theinside ofthe batterycompartment
match up.
3. Replacethe batterycompartment cover.
Notes:
Do notmix batteriesfrom different
manufacturers orold withnew.If theremote
control willnot beused foran extended
period, removethe batteriesimmediately to
prevent damage-causingcorrosion.
If batteryleakage occurs,wipe thebattery
liquid frominside thebattery compartment,
and thenreplace bothbatteries.
Always replaceboth batteriesat thesame
time, usingnew,fully chargedbatteries.
The lifeexpectancy ofbatteries mayvary
depending onamount ofuse.
Using theRemote Control
Point theremote controlat theremote sensor
on theDVD receiver. Whenthe signalis
received fromthe remote,the unitwill
function accordingly. Theremote willoperate
up toapproximately 16'from theremote
sensor atan angleof around30' ineach
direction.
BATTERIES
INCORRECT USEOF BATTERIES MAY
CAUSE THEMTO LEAK,CORRODE,
OR EXPLODE.

FUNCTIONS
To playa DVDvideo disc:
Turnon theTVset andselect theA/ Vmode.
1. Pressthe POWERbutton onfront panelof
the DVDplayer,DISC LOADINGappears
on screen.
If thereis nodisc inthe player, NODISC
will showon thescreen
2. Pressthe OPEN/ CLOSEbutton.
The disctray willopen.
3. Placethe discon thedisc tray;be sure
content (Wide-screen, Full-screen)side is
face downon thetray.
4. PressOPEN /CLOSE buttonto closethe
tray.The disctray willclose andthe disctype
will appearin theupper-left-hand cornerof
the screen.
Once theplayer hasread thedisc, theunit
automatically willbegin playback.
Note:
It ispossible todamage adisc ifit isnot placed
correctly onthe guidesin thedisc tray. This
may alsocause theDVD playerto malfunction.
Do notforce orplace anythingother thana 5"
DVD orCD ontothe disctray.
Never movethe DVDplayer duringplayback,
as thismay causedamage tothe discas wellas
the player.
Toopen andclose thedisc tray, onlyuse the
OPEN /CLOSE keyfound onboth theremote
control andon theunit's frontpanel.
5. PREV/NEXTplayback
Press thePREV orNEXT buttonsto playthe
'PREVIOUS' or'NEXT 'track. To resume
normal playback,press thePLAY/ PAUSE
button.

This DVDplayer hasthe abilityto playdiscs
in slowmotion ineither forwardor reverse
direction.
Each timethe SLOWbutton ispressed, the
forward speedwill slowto 1/2speed, to1/4,
to 1/6,to 1/8, and backto normal.In reverse,
the speedwill alsoslow from1/2 speed,to
1/4, to1/6,to 1/8,and backto normal.To
resume normalplayback atanytime,
press thePLAY / PAUSE button.
Slow Motion
Screen Display
While adisc isplaying, thestatus ofvarious
functions maybe checked,such asthe title,
track number, andseveral timecategories.
1. Pressthe DISPLAY button onceand the
title appearsalong withthe chapterand how
much timehas elapsed.
2. Pressthe DISPLAY button againand the
remaining timefor thatparticular title
appears.
3. Pressthe DISPLAY button againand the
total elapsedtime forthat particular
Chapter appears.
4. Pressthe DISPLAY button againand the
total remainingtime forthat particular
chapter appears.
5. Pressthe DISPLAY button againand the
display turnsoff.
Frame-By-Frame Playback
1. Whilein thePlay mode,press STEP
continuously tomove forwardin thevideo
frame byframe.
2. PressPLAY /PAUSE resumenormal playback.

The defaultaudio setupis STEREO.Press
Audio-L, andthe soundwill beoutput from

Subtitles
The DVDPlayer hasthe capabilityto display
subtitles inEnglish, Frenchand Spanish.
1. Pressthe SUBTITLEbutton. Thesubtitle
menu willappear.Select thedesired language
by pressingthe SUBTITLEbutton.
2. To removethe subtitlesfrom view, press
the SUBTITLEbutton untilthey disappear.
Note: Thedisc beingplayed mustbe
multi-subtitle encoded.
The abilityto changethe cameraangle allows
the viewerto playdirector andwatch amovie
from differentperspectives.
1. PresstheANGLE buttonon theremote
control. With eachpress, thecamera angle
changes.
2. Thebutton maybe pressedonly whenthe
flashing angleicon appearsin theunit's
display panel.
Note:
The cameraangle maybe changedonly in
discs withmulti-angle capabilityencoded.
Language
The unit has thecapability to show moviesin
English, French andSpanish.
1. Press the LANGUAGEbutton. The
language menu will appear. Select the desired
language by pressingthe LANGUAGE button.

DVD discsare normallydivided intotitles,
which arethen sub-dividedinto chapters.A

procedure. Proceduresmay varydepending

A-Brepeat
Press "A-B"once toset astart-point, press
"A-B" againto setan endpoint andcomplete
the setting.The selectedsectionA-B willbe
repeated. Thethird presswill cancelthis
function.
Camera Angle

PBC
PBC function(VCDOnly)
Withthe PBCfunction on,choosing asong
on aVCD canonly bedone fromthe main
menu. With thePBC functionoff, song
selections canbe madeby enteringthe
number ofthe songselection withthe
number buttons.
FUNCTIONS
Repeat Play
This DVDreceiver allowsrepeated playback
of specifictitles, chapter/tracks,or segments.
It evenallows switchingbetween twoitems
that arebeing repeated,
1. Selectthe itemto repeat.
2. Pressthe REPEAT button.
The repeatmode changeseach timethe
REPEAT buttonis pressed(i.e., fromtitle
repeat tochapter repeat,all repeat,
to repeatoff.)
ZOOM
Volume andMute
The volumeon thisDVD playeris easily
controlled withthe remotecontrol by
pressing eitherthe VOL+ buttonto raise
the volumeor theVOL- buttonto lowerit.
By pressingthe MUTEbutton, noaudio will
be heard.To returnthe audio,press the
MUTE buttonagain.
Program
This functionallows youto programthe
desired orderof playfor specifictracks
usually ona CD.Press thePROG button,
and theProgram menuwill appearon the
screen. Setthe programsplay orderusing
the numberbuttons. Thenscroll toStart on
the menu.Press theENTER buttonto begin
program play. To exitfrom theprogram
play mode,press thePROG buttonagain.
DVD MenuSetup
Press theSETUPbutton onthe remotecontrol
and themain menuwill appear.
1.After accessingthe setupmenu, pressthe
scroll buttonup ordown toselect adesired
item. Oncean itemis selected,press the
PLAY/PAUSE buttonto confirmyour entry
and thenyou willhave accessto thesub-
directory.
2.Use theleft orright scrollbuttons tomove
the pointerand theup ordown scrollbuttons
to selectthe desiredoption. Oncean itemis
selected, pressthe ENTERbutton toconfirm
your selection.This completesthe setupof the
selected function.
Note:
The Zoomfunction canbe usedonly when
playing DVDsencoded withZoom capability.
Withthe Zoomfunction, apicture maybe
enlarged upto threetimes duringeither
playback orslow motionviewing.
Toreturn tonormal-size image,press
the ZOOM button afourth time.
1. Pressthe ZOOM button onceand itwill
enlarge theimage 1X,press asecond time
and theimage enlarges2X, athird press
enlarges theimage 3X.Enlargement takes

MP3 isan audiocompression modeusing

The audiosignal iscompressed ina rateof

sound quality.
When playinga MP3disc, 2file menuscan be
selected bypressing thePROG button: 1)Folder
List and 2) FileList.

Display themenu first,then pressthe UP/
DOWN, LEFT/ RIGHTarrows andENTER
button toselect thesubdirectory andmusic.

This menuis whereyou mayselect thefiles (or

MP3 FUNCTION
JPEG isthe mostefficient imagecompression
format andis widelyused forphoto/picture
storage. Evenwhen picturesare compressed
15-20 times,they stillmaintain anexcellent
quality.The JPEGformat isalso supported
by mostpicture processingsoftware. The
JPEG fileuses lessstorage spaceand iseasy
to use.
This DVDplayer canread JPEGformatted
picture CDdiscs.
1.Placea photodisc inthe DVDplayer and
menu willappear
2.Pressthe numberbuttons ofthe selection
you wantto view.
3.PressPLAY button toview.

1. PressPLAY/PAUSE buttonto viewthe
photo onthe screen.

3. Whenin STOPmode, youcan returnto
the uppermenu byselecting thetop fileitem
on theright sideof thescreen andpressing
PLAY/PAUSE button.
Other functions:

4. To zoomin onthe image,press theZOOM
button. Pressingthe ZOOMbutton 4times
will returnthe pictureto normal.
5. Whenthe zoomis on,press theFast
Forward orFast Reverseto zoomin orout
on theimage.
6. Whenthe zoomis off,pressing the
direction arrowswill causethe imageto
turn over(reverse).

1) Nopower
A.Check toensure thatthe powerplug is
securely connectedto thepower outletand
that theoutlet isin workingcondition (test
outlet byCAREFULLYplugging another
electrical itemin toit).
B. Makesure thepower buttonon the
front ofthe playerhas beenpushed.
C. Presspower onthe remotecontrol

A.Check batteries;possibly replace.

obstacles betweenthe remotesensor onthe

6) Dividedpicture
A.Check thatdisc isclean andhas no
scratches.
B. ThisDVD playeris controlledby a
microcomputer,which mayneed tobe reset.
Toreset, turnoff theunit's powercompletely,
wait 30seconds, thenturn theplayer backon.
7) Nocolor picture
A.Check tosee ifthe Sconnector is
damaged (bentpin).
8) MP3discs donot play
A.Use adifferent programto re-burnthe
disc, asthe programmay notbe MP3
compatible withthe player.
B. Usea neweredition ofMP3 software
such as"Audio station4", "EasyCD
Creator", etc.
C. Makesure MP3file isnot encodedwith
a variablebit rate,such asprovided byReal
Networks.

description of the problem. Failure to enclose required information will result in delay of your
shipment. Please allow 4-6 weeks for product service or replacement.
This warranty does not cover any product, which has been subject to damage due to an act
of Nature, misuse, neglect, accident, abuse, commercial use, or modification of, or to, any
part of the product, including the antenna. Damage to external devices such as speakers and
other memory devices are not covered nor is the cost incurred in shipping the unit for
warranty repair. Under no circumstances shall eTEC USA, be liable for any loss (direct,
indirect, incidental, foreseen, unforeseen, special or consequential) or for any damage arising
out of, or in connection with, the use of this product.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ETEC USA BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
This warranty does not cover re-manufactured units, or product sold ‘As Is’.
This warranty is valid only in the United States and grants specific legal rights.
