Personal Water Purifier

Thank you for purchasing the Etekcity® Personal
Water Purifier. This portable and lightweight water
filter straw is ideal for emergency and outdoor use,
allowing travellers and campers to have instant access
to safe and clean drinking water through the use of
antibacterial carbon filtration. Safely drink from nearly
any lake, river, spring, well or even rainwater with up
to 4 different uses including filter extension, portable
water storage, and prefiltration. Through the use of the
hollow fiber UF membrane, the Personal Water Purifier
by Etekcity filters 99.9999%of colibacillus, legionella,
heavy metal ions, remained chlorine, VOC, organic and
insect contaminant. Whether used for emergency relief
or outdoor recreation, this portable water filter promises
simplicity with safety.
IMPORTANT: Please read and comply with all the
instructions and warnings provided in this manual before
using the product. Failure to comply with the instructions
and warnings provided herein may result in unsafe
drinking and/or damage to the device.
Important Safety Information
• Use the Personal Water Purifier to filter visually clean
water instead of turbid water when possible in order
to extend the product lifespan.
•DO NOT use this device to filter and/or drink sea water.
• DO NOT wash with detergent, disinfectant, or any
other cleaning product to avoid damage to the filter.
• DO NOT use sharp objects to clean the filter.
• This product should be replaced regularly for safe
water consumption. Replace one year after first use or

• To properly open the straw nozzle cap, laterally push
open, do not pull with force.
• Regularly blow air through the Personal Water Purifier
after drinking to keep the filters clean and to prevent
them from clogging.
• Rinse the prefilter in clean water regularly to prevent
clogging.
• Use river, well or rainwater to increase the life of the
filter.

Operation
Method 1: Direct Filter Use
Place the straw directly into the water, immersing the
inlet mouthpiece into the water. Draw in and drink the
purified water from the outlet mouthpiece.
Method 2: Filter Extension
This method is best used when the water source is too
far out of reach for direct filter use. For straw extension,
connect the extension tube to the inlet mouthpiece,
making sure the tube is firmly and tightly attached.
Immerse the open end of the extension tube into the
water. Draw in and drink the purified water from the
outlet mouthpiece.
Method 3: Prefilter Application
This method is best used for more turbid water
containing organic and insect contaminants. For extra
filtration, attach the prefilter to the inlet mouthpiece
firmly. Then, place the straw directly into the water,
immersing the inlet end of the straw into the water.
Draw in and drink the purified water from the outlet
mouthpiece.
Method 4: Portable Water Bag
This method is ideal for portable transportation of the
water source. Collect water with the water bag, then
connect the bag to the straw from the inlet end. Place
your lips to the outlet mouthpiece and squeeze the water
bag to direct the water through the filter. Draw in and
drink the purified water from the outlet mouthpiece.

Limited WarrantyMaintenance
The Etekcity Personal Water Purifier provides one year
warranty from the date of purchase. If the materials and
workmanship prove defective, please contact support@
etekcity.com for a replacement.
Maintenance does not cover the following:
1. Artificial destruction or damage due to inappropriate
storage or use.
2. Damage resulting from failure to comply with the user
manual.

Long Term Storage
If the Personal Water Purifier is not in use for a long
period of time, gently shake the straw to remove excess
water inside the straw. Store the straw in a dry, shaded
environment for best care.
Clean the purifier regularly with the included backwash
device in order to maintain the product lifetime and
functionality.
1. Immerse the backwash device in clean water up to
the point where water is half way up the barrel of the
device.
2. Slowly pull back the plunger of the device while
holding it in the water, gradually filling the barrel with
water.
3. Insert the tip of the backwash device into the outlet
mouthpiece.
4. Hold the backwash device in place while pushing the
plunger of the device down. This simple pressure
pump operation will clean out any soiling.
5. Repeat the previous steps as many times as necessary
and shake the straw to release excess water when done.

The straw nozzle cap is tight, laterally push to open, do
not pull vigorously to the heading direction.
