Quick Start (en)
PREPARATION
1. Included items: RPM250W, reflective tape, Quick Start, and
batteries.
2. Download the User Manual from the Extech website.
3. Download the ExView mobile app from the App Store (iOS®) or
Google Play (Android™).
4. Install the batteries in the rear compartment, observing correct
polarity.
5. Long press the power button to switch the meter on (short
press to switch off).
6. Short press the button to select Tachometer (RPM) or Coun-
ter (COUNT) function.
GENERAL SAFETY
• Check for damage to the device before use. Return the unit if
damage is evident.
• Do not attempt to open the meter housing.
• Do not point the Laser beam toward the eyes.
• Allow at least 2 in. (50 mm) between the meter and the meas-
ured objects.
• CE and FCC compliant.
TACHOMETER (RPM) OPERATION
1. Switch off the device under test to ensure that it is not moving.
2. Affix a 0.5 x 0.5 in. (12 mm x 12 mm) piece of reflective tape to
the device under test.
3. Short press to select RPM.
4. Switch on the device under test so that it begins moving.
5. From a distance of 2 to 20 in. (50 to 500 mm), aim the meter
sensor (top) toward the reflective tape.
6. The monitor symbol appears when the meter detects the re-
flected light.
7. Read the RPM measurement on the LCD.
8. Short press MAX/MIN to step through MAX/MIN readings.

9. For measurements > 99,999 RPM, OL will appear.
COUNT OPERATION (ILLUMINATED OBJECTS)
1. Short press the button until COUNT is displayed.
2. Position the meter 2 to 20 in. (50 to 500 mm) from the device
under test.
3. Switch on the device under test so that it begins moving.
4. Each time an illuminated object passes the meter sensor, the
count increments by 1, and the monitor symbol appears.
5. Short press MAX/MIN to reset the counter to zero.
6. If the count is > 99,999, OL will display.
COUNT OPERATION (EXTERNAL ILLUMINATION)
1. Set up the test so that the device under test is between the me-
ter and the optical source.
2. Short press until COUNT is displayed.
3. Long press to switch off the Laser.
4. Position the meter 2 to 20 in. (50 to 500 mm) from the object
under test.
5. Switch on the device under test so that it begins moving.
6. As each object passes between the meter and the optical
source, the count increments by 1, and the monitor symbol
appears.
7. Short press MAX/MIN to reset the counter.
BLUETOOTH OPERATION
Long press the Bluetooth button to switch Bluetooth on or off.
Download the ExView mobile app onto your smart device from the
App Store or Google Play.
Instructions for app use are available on the Extech website (Ex-
View product page). Switch APO off when using Bluetooth by
pressing the power and Hbuttons until the APO symbol
switches off.

FUNCTION BUTTONS
Long press to switch the meter on. Short press to switch off.
Long press to switch Bluetooth on/off.
In RPM mode, short press to view the MAX/MIN readings;
Long press to clear the readings.
In Count mode, short press to reset the count to zero.
Short press to freeze/unfreeze the displayed reading.
Long press to switch the LCD backlight on/off.
Short press to toggle Tachometer (RPM) and Count modes.
Long press to switch the Laser pointer on/off.
