1 Introduction
The iTAG100-7, iTAG100-7-CB, iTAG100-7D, iTAG100-7D-CB are MET Canada
approved, intrinsically safe versions of the Stanley T2 Tag. This is the most advanced
Wi-Fi based Active RFID tag on the market, from the company that originated the
Wi-Fi tag industry. The device is a small, long-life Wi-Fi based active RFID device
that can be placed on any asset, allowing the Stanley system to locate assets that
are not Wi-Fi enabled.

2 Safety Information and Notes
2.1 Storage of this Manual
Keep this user manual safe and in the vicinity of the product. All persons required work on or
with the product should be advised on where the manual is stored.

Warning! This product can be delivered in a number of different variants; each
variant has restrictions on where it can be used. Please read the
information in the type codes section fully and ensure that your iTAG100
is suitable for the hazardous area in which it is to be used.
Warning! All iTAG100 devices should only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Warning! All MET approved variants should only be fitted with the iTAG100-B1-
MET / TAC-237 battery. This is a special battery which has an
encapsulated end, and should only be installed by manufacturer-
approved competent persons.
Warning! Any iTAG100 batteries should only be replaced in the safe area, by a
competent person who is approved by the manufacturer.

Warning! The iTAG100 contains a source of RF power, which is software limited to
<100mW; this is compliant with the requirements of IEC 60079-0:2011

power level.
Warning! The iTAG100 variants have different permissible ambient temperature
ranges for different temperature classes as follows:
Warning! Do not open the iTAG100. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Warning! Any repairs or replacement of parts MUST be performed by the
manufacturer or its nominated sub-contractor or agent.

3 Installation and Setting-to-Work
3.1 Assembly and Disassembly
The iTAG100 is provided ready assembled and should not be dismantled by the user.
3.2 Installation
The iTAG100 should be mounted on the asset to be tracked, or worn by the person
who is to be tracked.
Warning! Attention should be paid to the Temperature Class (T Class) of the area
which the asset or person could be entering. Restrictions on the ambient
temperature apply to the certification of the iTAG100. Please refer to this
manual and marking on the tag for the maximum ambient temperature
permitted for each T Class.
3.3 Adjustment
No user adjustment of the iTAG100 is possible.

4 Intended Purpose Usage
Important Before setting the units to work, read the technical documentation
carefully.
Important The latest version of the technical documentation or the corresponding
technical supplements is valid in each case.
Important For the installation, maintenance and cleaning of the units, it is
absolutely necessary to observe the applicable regulations and
provisions concerned with explosion protection (IEC 60079-0, IEC 60079-
11, IEC 60079-14, CEC 18).
The iTAG100 is built using modern components and is extremely reliable in
operation; however it must only be used for its intended purpose. Please note that
the intended purpose also includes compliance with the instructions issued by the
manufacturer for installation, setting up and service.
Any other use is regarded as conflicting with the intended purpose. The manufacturer
is not liable for any subsequent damage resulting from such inadmissible use. The
user bears the sole risk in such cases.
4.1 Transport
All iTAG100 devices must be so transported and stored that they are not subjected to
any excessive mechanical stresses.
4.2 Authorized Persons
Only persons trained for the purpose are authorized to handle the iTAG100; they
must be familiar with the unit and must be aware of the regulation and provisions
required for explosion protection as well as the relevant accident prevention
regulations.
4.3 Cleaning and Maintenance
The iTAG100 and all of its components require no maintenance and are self-
monitoring. All work on the iTAG100 by personnel who are not expressly qualified for
such activities will cause the safety approval and the guarantee to become void.

4.4 Cleaning and Maintenance Intervals
The cleaning interval depends on the environment where the system is installed.
4.5 Aggressive substances and environments
The iTAG100 is not designed to come into contact with aggressive substances or
environments, please be aware that additional protection may be required.
4.6 Exposure to external stresses
The iTAG100 is not designed to be subjected to excessive stresses e.g. vibration,
heat, impact. Additional protection is required to protect against these external
stresses.
The iTAG100 will require additional protection if it is installed in a location where it
may be subjected to damage.
