tonomaintenanceduringitslifeme.Falconisbyfarthefastest
spinningwheelonthemarketandspecializesinnegauges.Anyone
whospinsproducon-quantycoonorsilkwillbeabletobenet
fromthehighlinearfeedratesandinsanetwistratepotenal.
Pleasebecarefulwhenoperangathighspeed!Haveastableand
cleanworksurface,elonghairback,anddon’twearlong,loose
sleeves.Keepchildrenandpetsawayfromyourworkarea.

Packagecontentsmayshiduringshipping,

isalsoawiseprocedureaertravelingwith
yourDaedaluswheel.
Themotormountisdesignedtobeeasily
removedforat-pack.Becauseofthis
feature,youwillneedtomakesurethemotoranditspinionpulleyare
properlyaligneddirectlyunderneaththeyerpulley,becauseitmay
haveshiedalileduringshipping.
Getting Started
DoNOToperatethewheelwitha“stalled”bobbin.Ifyouwantto
runthewheelandbobbinwithoutactuallyspinningyarn(justto
seeitspin),REMOVEthetensionbeltrst.Thiswillallowthebobbin
tospinalongwiththeyer,likenormalspinning.Operangwitha
stalledbobbincandamageand/orprematurelywearthebobbin
bearings,whichareopmizedforlowrelavespeedswhentakeupis
happening.
Warning

TheFalconusesScotchtension,whichisidealforspinningthenest
ofsingles.Tensioningisremarkablynuancedthankstoavariable
tensionstalk,anchor,andtensionspring.Foropmalperformance,
beforebeginninganyspinyou’llwanttoadjusttheRightTensionDial
(1)tothemiddleofitsadjustmentrange,makingsurethere’snoslack
inthetensionbeltandliletonoexpansionofitsspring.Thisway,
thereisausablerangeonthedialfortweakingtheexpansionand/or
contraconofthespringandbycorrelaon,thetension,asyouspin
andllthebobbin.
Toreducetheslackonthetensionbelt,rotatetheLeTensionHook
(2)outwardunltheslackisgone,thenusetheRightTensionDial(1)
tone-tunefromthere(noneedtomesswiththecinchplateunless
youwantto).Werecommendminimaldialadjustmentofnomore
thanhalfarotaonoftheknobatame.Thespringservesasyour
visualtensioningcue.Itsusablerangegoesfromcollapsedtofully
extendedatalmostdoubleitslength.Withthespringcollapsed,the
wheelwillhaveliletonotakeup—idealforspinningthenestof
gossameryarns.Falcontestersnotedtheneedforasmallincrease
intension—abarelyvisibleextensionofthespring—whilelling
thebobbinwithyarnof100WPI(wrapsperinch)andheavier.Plying

Todoso,checkthepinion
pulley(thegroovethatholds
yourdriveband)onthe
frontofthemotor.Itshould
belocateddirectlybelow
thebeltgrooveontheyer
above.Verifythatthedrive
beltisparalleltothefront
framebyobservingitfrom
theside.Useyourthumbs
toadjusttheposionofthe
motormountasnecessary.

ghttomove,pushoneside
downunlitpopsothe
carbontube.

mayvary,buttheseresultsareagood
starngpointfornewFalconowners.
ForZtwist(singles),havethespring
ontheleside,butswapthetension
beltoversothespringisontheright
sideforStwist(plying).
Bewaryoflooseningthetension
beltsomuchthatthereisexcess
slack.Thisslackwillbeginto“twang”
backandforthlikeaguitarstring,
andtoomuchslackcouldcausethe
tensionbelttobecontactedbythe
yerarm,resulnginyourtension
springhavingareallybaddayand
likelyneedingreplacement.Ifyou
haveloosenedyourtensionasmuch
aspossibleandsllwantevenless
takeup,youcanslowyourspeed
oruseaner/slickertensionbelt
material(silkthread,etc).

BecauseoftheobvioustemptaontotakeFalconoutoftheboxand
turnitontofullspeed(it’sasplendidbitofgrandeur!),yourtension
beltisnotinstalledforshipping.Ifyou’veinstalleditalready,make
suretoremovethetensionbeltifyouwanttooperatethewheel
withoutactuallyspinningyarn!Thetensionbelt(evenatlowtension)
willcausethebobbintobe“stalled”andnotspin,whiletheyer
couldbegoingathighspeed.Thebobbinbearingswerecarefully
chosenfortheutmostperformancewhilespinningyarn,wherethose
bearingsareoperangatarelavelylowrpm.Turningthewheelonto
highspeedswiththebobbinstalledcancauseprematurewearonthe
bobbinsbearings.
Before you get started, always make sure the direcon switch on the
Speed Controller is in the middle (neutral) posion, or else the wheel
will aempt to start when you’re not ready.Ifyoupurchasedyour
speedcontrolleratthesamemeasyourFalcon,ithasbeenlimited
toamaxspeedof50%inthesengs.Ifyoualreadyhaveaspeed
controller,usecauonasitwillhaveunlimitedspeed.Pleasereadthe
direconsforusingtheSpeedControllertochangethissengand
unlockthefullspeedpotenal,aswellasmorein-depthinformaon
onspeedcontrollerprogramming.

II- CounterclockwiseStwist(commonlyusedforplying)
• Axaleader(alongloopoflaceweightyarnoryourpersonal
preference)ontothebobbin-placelooparoundbobbin
coreandpulloneendoftheloopthroughtheother.Then
takeyourleaderandcreatesecondlooptopullitthroughto
secureyourleader.Usetheprovidedoricehooktoroutethe
leaderthroughtheyarnguide,thenthroughtheshoulderof
theyer,andthenthroughtheorice.

• Plugyour15V5ampwallpowersupply(oryour15Vbaery)
intotheSpeedController.
• Themoduleshouldlightupandshowthecurrentsetspeed.
AdjustthisasnecessaryusingtheUp/Downarrows,andthen
presstheDaedaluslogo(Start/Stop)ontheSpeedController.
Thedisplaywillshow“---“whichisstopped.
• Aachyourbertotheleaderloop.Verifythedisplaysays
“---“whichmeansitisstopped.Flipthedireconswitchtothe
desireddirecon(IisZtwist,IIisStwist).
• Whenready,presstheDaedaluslogo(Start/Stop).Thewheel
willslowlyacceleratefor3secondstoyoursetspeed%.You
canne-tuneyourspeedwhilespinningbyusingtheUp/Down
arrows.Whenit’smetoadvanceyouryarnguide,pressthe
logo(Start/Stop)andthewheelwillslowlydeceleratefor3
secondsandcometoastop.
• IncreaseordecreaseyourspeedusingtheUpandDown
arrows.Payaenontothetakeupandadjustthetensionknob
accordingly.Fine-tuneyourspeedasyougetcomfortable.You
mayneedtoslightlyadjustthetensionasyouchangeyour
speedandasthebobbinllswithyarn.

Thehelpfulinformaonbelowwasprovidedbyourtestspinners.
• IfyoupurchasedaspeedcontrollerwithyourFalcon,we
havefactorysetthemaximumspeedsengto50%forsafety
reasons.Toincreaseorfullyopenthemaxseng,adjust
seng4intheSpeedControllermenu.Usingthisfeatureis
agreatwaytopreventyoufromaccidentallyexceedingthe
speedyoufeelcomfortablewithforthise-spinner.
• Whendecidingwhatspeedyouneedifyoudon’talreadyhave
aDaedaluse-spinner,startthewheelupwithoutthetension
ontovisualizethespeed,thenstartoconservavely,witha
slowerspeedthanyouthinkyouneed.Ifyoualreadyhavea
Daedaluse-spinner,checktheRPMcomparisonchartsonthe
websitetondagoodstarngpointbasedonwhatyouare
alreadyusedto.Getafeelforthewheelandincreasespeed
incrementallyasneeded,ensuringyouarecomfortablewith
thepace.
• AdjustyourtensionwiththeLeTensionHooktoreduce
slack,andthennetuneyourtensionby1/4turnsofthe
knob.
• YourSoStart/Stopisveryimportantwhenspinningne.
Adjustitasneededoverthecourseofllingyourbobbin.
TheSoStartwillensurethewheelisn’tgrabbingyoursingle
awayfromyou,andtheSoStopwillensureyoudon’tform
pigtailswhenyourspinningcomestoastop.
• Whenspinninglongdraw,it’simportanttonotfeedgreat
lengthsontothewheeltoofast.Youmaywishtosamplesome
berandgettoknowtheidealfeedratebasedonyourspeed,
tension,andhowyouspin.
• Thebalanceofyouryerbecomesevenmoreimportantwhen
spinningwithhighspeeds.Toensureopmalbalance,we
recommendmovingyourguidesinsync.Atslowerspeeds,
youmaybenewithleavingtheinacveguideinthemiddle
oftheyerarm.
• Tomaximizeyourbobbincapacity,tryusing60/2silkasyour
leaderandbecarefultowindontothebobbinevenly,aslile
hillsandvalleyscanresultinareaswithunequaldensityand
couldpossiblyresultintangling.

Whenit’smetochangeyourbobbin,simplyslipothetensionand
drivebelts,andthenliouttheyerandbobbinassembly.Remove
therearaxlebearingandkeeptrackofitbyplacingitbackontothe
rearmagnetsunlyoucangetthenewbobbininstalled.Withthenew
bobbinontheyersha,replacetherearbearingontotheendofthe
axleandplacetheassemblybackontothechassis,makingsurethe
smallrearbearinggoesbackontothemagnets.Replacethetension
anddrivebelts,andyouarereadytospinagain!

wererecordedfromRebeccaGiles’sFalcon,
“Yea,”whohasapproximately30hoursof
break-inme(topRPMwillincreaseduring
break-in,whichcanbeupwardof100hours).
Also,theRPMcanvaryslightlyfromonewheel
tothenext,sopleaseusethisasageneral
guideline.
Whenusingabaerytopoweryourwheel
atveryslowspeeds,youmayndthatyour
baerymesout(shutsitselfo).Thisis
duetothewheelnotbeingabletodraw
enoughpowerfromit.Althoughthiswould
beuncommonforFalcon,ifyoundthistobe
thecase,tryplugginginanotheritemwhilein
useviatheUSBport.WerecommendaUSB
light(nowcomeswithbaerypurchases,or
availableonourwebsiteseparately),asmall
fan,orsimplychargeyourcellphonewhile
you’respinning.

yarnfeedsbackothebobbinduringaStop,increasethis
valuejustunlthebacklashingstops.

Tocleanyoure-spinner,pleaseusealint-freeclothandifneeded,
dampentheclothwithwateronly.Pleasedonotusedetergentsor
cleaners.
Ifyouliveinahighhumidityarea,youmaynocesomeslight
tarnishingonthemaidenbearing.Thiscanbecleanedwithajewelry
