Intended use:
The Fame DD-5500 was designed for use as an electronic drum set. By striking the pads, an
electronic module simulates an artificial drum sound in various forms and optionally plays it
back via head-phones or external speakers. The device may only be used for this purpose
and in accordance with the operating instructions. Other uses, as well as operation under
other operating conditions are expressly not intended and can lead to material damage or
personal injury! No liability is assumed for damage resulting from improper use. It must be
ensured that the device is operated exclusively by trained and competent users who are in
full possession of their mental, physical and sensory abilities. The use by other persons is
expressly only permitted at the instruction or supervision of a person responsible for their
safety.

Service work or repairs may only be carried out by quali ed service personnel.

Safety instructions:
DANGER! (Possible hearing damage)
When speakers or headphones are connected, the unit may produce volu-
me levels that may cause temporary or permanent hearing loss. Do not
operate the unit continuously at high volume. Reduce the volume immedi-
ately in case of ringing in the ears or hearing loss. If necessary, reduce
the volume directly at the respective controller during initial operation.
DANGER! (For Babies and Children)
Wrapping, plastic foils and other packaging material must be properly
stored or disposed of. It should be kept out of the reach of babies and
children due to the risk of suffocation.
Ensure that children never use the device unattended! Also make sure that
children do not remove any (small) parts from the device, as they could
suffocate if swallowed!
DANGER! (electric shock caused by short circuit)
Modications to the mains cable or the mains plug are prohibited. Failure
to do so may result in re or death hazard due to an electric shock!
Warning! (Service Conditions)
Due to its structural characteristics, the device is designed for indoor use.
Do not expose the device to rain, moisture or liquids, as this can cause
damage. Vibrations, dirt or sunlight can also lead to damage, avoid
them!
Warning! (Power Supply)
Make sure that the device voltage matches your local mains voltage. It
is strongly recommended to protect your mains socket with a residual
current circuit breaker (RCD).
If you do not use your device for a longer period of time, disconnect the
device from the mains to minimize dangers. The same applies to thunders-
torms or oods, etc.
Warning! (Fire Hazard)
Make sure that the device is not exposed to any direct heat source and
is used away from open re. Never block or cover ventilation slots or the
device itself.

a minimum. The use of environmentally friendly and recyclable materials is always of funda-
mental importance. Please recycle the packaging after use.

Cleaning:
The ventilation grilles of the unit must be regularly cleaned of impurities, such as dust, etc.
Before cleaning, switch off the unit and disconnect from the mains power grid.
For cleaning, use a lint-free, moistened cloth. Never use alcohol or solvent for cleaning!
Do not open the device. The device does not contain any user-replaceable or serviceable
assemblies and components. In the event of damage, do not put the unit into operation under
any circumstances. Service work or repairs may only be carried out by qualied service per-
sonnel, especially in the following cases:
- Objects or liquids have penetrated the device.
- The unit does not operate as usual.
- The unit has been dropped or the housing damaged.

Taking care of Your Digital Drum Set
Location

Connect the headphones
The audio source box has 1/4 headphone connector(if use a 1/8 headphone ,use an
adaptor), the volume is controlled by the volume knob of the audio source box
Connect the output of MP3 or CD player or other audio sources with AUX.IN connector. The
input signal can be mixed with the drum signal, strike the pads according to the rhythm of
the input signal.

Connect with audio system or amplifier
When connecting with audio system or drum amplifier, use a cable to connect with L/
mono R of the audio system and the drum amplifier.,
Note:
1).Connect with L/mono connector when connecting with mono audio device.
2).Connect with L/mono and R connector when connecting with stereo audio device.
The volume is controlled by the master volume knob of drum kit and the audio device.

1.Connect the computer via USB to receive and send MIDI signal.

IDI IN: receives MIDI signal of computer or other devices
MIDI OUT: sends pad performance signal to external MIDI devices or computer.
MIDI connector:If you're using an external MIDI keyboard or pads to control the digital drum, make
connections as shown. Here, it is used as a sound module.

Make sure the power is switched off.

After confirming that all connections have been completed, rotate the volume knob to minimum before
switching the power on. Set the power switch to the ON position. The KIT indicator on LCD will light up
and the display will show kit number 01 pop 01.

Basic operation
Selecting a drum kit
After powering up, the digital drum will be in kit menu (kit indicator on ). the display
should look like the following figure. KIT1 POP1 flashes. there are 3 ways to activate
the drum kit menu:

2.Pressing the Pad Select buttons allows you to preview the current kit (fixed tempo).

3.Hit the pads to play the current kit.

Similar to an acoustic drum kit, the digital drum
responds differently to various playing techniques
and dynamics. All the pads senses the striking force.
and some voices change tone depending on the
striking force.
Cymbal bow shot and choke
CRASH and RIDE have the bow shot
and choke, e.g. hit the cymbal or the
rim then hold the rim to CRASH or RIDE
sound.
Note:
1.DD-5500:SNARE and TOM1-TOM3 have
dual channels and are rim shot.
2.RIDE:it delivers RIDE BELL sound when hit
strongly, and RIDE CYMBAL sound when hit
Slightly. Hit the pad and rim at the same time
SNARE delivers one sound when hit the pad
and rim at the same time.
Drum pad and rim shot
The digital drum pad detects pad shot and rim
shots (rim shots are different from the pad shots).

HI-HAT
The Hi-Hat sound varies depending on the position of the Hi-Hat pedal:
Open Hi-Hat: Strike the Hi-Hat pad without pressing the pedal.
Closed Hi-Hat: Strike the Hi-Hat pad with the pedal pressed completely down.
Pedal Close: Press the pedal completely down without striking the pad.
Half-open Hi-Hat:Strike the Hi-Hat pad with the pedal pressed halfway down

Edit and save a drum kit
In the drum kit menu, user can change parameter according to the playing style then save it.
1..Press [KIT] to select the drum kit
2.Use the direction key to switch to the desired drum kit to edit.
3.Press [SET UP] to enter drum pad setting, and DRUM PAD SETTING flashes.
