HOW TO USE THE MECHANICAL RAIL CLAMPS
“ MM series “
1) Remove the ballast under the rail, where is necessary to place the rail clamps
2) Loosen the rail screws, near the joint, to allow the correct alignment between the
two parts of the rails
3) Place the steel fishplate on the both side of the rail, and be sure that are correctly
placed

4) Place the rail clamps (2 Pcs. of MM1 and 1 Pc. of MM2) for the temporary joint on
the fishplate, taking care to place the ends of the rail clamps in the groove of the
fishplate
5) Hit the fishplate with an heavy hammer so that they fit snugly to the rail
6) Tighten the rail clamps with a torque wrench with a tightening torque of 580 Nm

7) After the first train has passed, hit the fishplate with an heavy hammer so that the
fishplate adhere perfectly to the rail and tighten again the rail clamps with torque
wrench with a tightening torque of 580 Nm
