Safety Messages to Installers of Federal Signal Products
People’s lives depend on your proper installation and servicing of our products. It is important to
read and follow all instructions shipped with this product. In addition, listed below are some other
important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:
• To properly install a vehicular camera system and options, you must have a good
understanding of automotive electrical systems along with proficiency in the installation
and use of safety warning equipment.
• Read and follow all safety and operating instructions before installing, conguring, or
operating the entire DTX Series system. Safety and operating instructions are also located
in the DTX Series software interface and can be accessed by clicking the Help button.
• DO NOT install equipment or route wiring in the deployment path of an airbag.
• If a vehicle seat is temporarily removed, verify with the vehicle manufacturer if the seat
needs to be recalibrated for proper airbag deployment.
• When drilling into a vehicle structure, be sure that both sides of the surface are clear of
anything that could be damaged. Remove all burrs from drilled holes. To prevent electrical
shorts, grommet all drilled holes through which wiring passes. Also ensure that the mounting
screws do not cause electrical or mechanical damage to the vehicle.
• You should frequently inspect the DTX Series System to ensure that it is operating properly
and that it is securely attached the vehicle.
• File these instructions in a safe place and refer to them when maintaining or reinstalling the
product.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious
injury, or death.
Product Overview
The Model DTX-CSM Front Camera Suction Mount (FSC Part No. 8605238) is a mounting
option with a powerful suction cup for attaching the DTX-FC front camera to the front windshield.
When used in place of the standard permanent-mount adhesive kit, it allows the camera to be
easily repositioned on the windshield. The dual pivot vertical/horizontal mount provides exible
viewports and comes preassembled, making the camera installation quick and easy.

Required Hardware
• #10-32 Phillips screw (included)
Installing the DTX-CSM Universal Mount
To install the camera to the front windshield with the DTX-CSM option:
Step 1: Locate a surface on the front windshield to mount the DTX-CSM assembly. Clean the
surface with a glass cleaner and towel.
Step 2: Place the camera on the mounting bracket and align the hole on the bracket with the
hole on the bottom of camera (Figure 1 on page 2).
Step 3: Insert the supplied #10-32 screw into the hole in the bracket and tighten the screw.
Step 4: Note the word PRESS on the push button of the suction cup and the C-shaped lever
circling it. Orient the suction cup as shown in Figure 1 and adhere the cup to the
mounting surface by pressing the button.
Step 5: To maintain suction, rotate the C-shaped lever 90 degrees to position it above the word
PRESS on the push button.
Aiming the DTX-RC Camera
To aim and steady the camera:
Step 1: Loosen the rear knob, pivot the camera right or left, and tighten the knob (Figure 1).
Step 2: Adjust the two side knobs so that the camera remains level and is at least 1/2 inch
from the windshield. Ensure that it does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle.
Connecting the Camera Cable
To connect the camera to the DTX system:
Step 1: Connect the end of the front camera cable to the white connector of DTX-RC camera
extension cable.
Step 2: Route and connect the extension cable to the white connector of the DTX-CC
peripherals cable from the DTX-2-DVR. Ensure that the cables do not interfere with the
operation of any equipment or hinder the activities of the driver and passenger.
Step 3: Test the connection to the DTX-2-DVR to ensure the camera cable connection is
working properly.

Returning a Product to Federal Signal
Before returning a product to Federal Signal, call 800-264-3578, 800-433-9132, or
800-824-0254 to obtain a Returned Merchandise Authorization number (RMA number).
To expedite the process please be prepared with the following information:
• Your Federal Signal customer or account number.
• The purchase order number under which the items were purchased.
• The shipping method.
• The model or part number of the product being returned.
• The quantity of products being returned.
• Drop ship information as needed.
• Any estimate required.
When you receive your RMA Number:
• Write the RMA number on the outside of the box of returned items.
• Reference the RMA number on your paperwork inside of the box.
• Write the RMA number down, so that you can easily check on status of the returned
equipment.
