Mix spoons,knivesandforks
within eachsection,to stop
cutlerynestingtogetherandto
ensurethewater circulates
freely.Keepstainlesssteelfrom
touchingsilvercutleryto avoid
staining.Usethe ovalslots
(spoonrack)for spoonsand
teaspoons.Smallitems,like
plasticlids,canbe placedunder
the spoonrack,this will prevent
themfrom beingdisplacedby

ThewashwaterfortheDishDrawer®comesfromthesprayarmwhichissituatedatthebaseofthedishwasher.Thespray
armrotates,providingwashwatertoallareasoftheDishDrawer®socareneedstobetakenwhenloadingthe
DishDrawer®.Ensurethatthereissufficientspaceandroomforthewatertoreachallareasparticularlythecupracks.
Ifthereareanyitemsblockingthesprayarmpathorwashwater,thentheperformancewillbeineffective.

sharp or pointed items havenot come through as
they may stop sprayarm rotation.

Thedetergentandrinseagentdispenserislocatedontheinsideofthe DishDrawer'_, Thedetergentdispenserhastwo
compartments,the prewashcompartmentisthesmallerandtheotherisfor themainwashdetergent.Theprewashandmain
washcompartmentsbothhavemarkingsonthe inside.Theprewashcompartmenthasonemarkingwhichrepresents1tsp,when
it isfull, it holds2 tsp.Themainwashcompartmenthastwo markings,the lowestmarkindicates2 tsp,the middlemark4 tsp and
whenfull it contains6tsp.
The detergent dispenser is designed for use with
powdered detergent. Liquidand tablet detergents
are not suitable to be used in the DishDrawer ®.

How Much RinseAgent to Use
The regulator may need
adjusting to suit your water
conditions. The lowest setting is
'1' and the highest is '5'. Refer
to Option Adjustment Mode
section to adjust the rinse agent
setting. Ifthere is excessive
foam at the end of the wash,
reduce the setting. If dishes are
wet or streaky after drying,
increase the setting.

HardWater Situations
If youliveina hardwater situation,we recommendthe installationofa householdwater
softenerto improvethewater quality,detergenteffectivenessandpreventthe buildupof
calciumdepositsondishesandinthe DishDrawer®.
Certainbrandsofdishwasherdetergentcontainvaryingquantitiesofphosphates,whichhelp
softenwater.Wesuggestyouusea detergentwith highphosphatecontentto improvethe
wash.Thedetergentcompartmentsneedto be completelyFULLandrinseagentis usedwith
its settingfixedat 5.
Werecommendthe useofa dishwashercleaner/descalerwheneveryounoticea buildupof
calciumdepositsin yourBishOrawer®.
Afteryouhaveusedthedishwashercleaner/descaleryoumustrunanotherwashprogramwith
detergenttopreventdamagetothe OishBrawer®.
Soft Water Situations
Ifyouliveinanareaofnaturallysoftwater oryourhouseholdwaterissoftened,avoidusingtoomuchdetergentin your
DishDrawer®. Anexcessamountofdetergentisveryaggressiveonglasswareandmaycauseirreversibleetching.
Etchingisa chemicaldeteriorationthat occursonthesurfaceof glasswarewhenit issubjectedto hightemperatures,toomuch
detergentand/orsoftwater situations.Etchingis causedbya combinationofveryhotwater,whichcausesthedetergentto become
veryaggressive,butbecausethewater issoft,therearenowaterhardnessmineralionsforthedetergentto bindto, soit extracts
mineralionsdirectlyfromthe glass.
Etchinglookslikerainbowcoloredfilm,astheglassissubjectedtofurtherwashingthesurfacewill eventuallyappearopaque.This
typeofetchingisirreversible.
Topreventfurtheretchingfromoccurringonglasswareuselessdetergent(followtherecommendeddetergentquantitiesin theUser
Guidefor softwater situations),andensurethedishwasherisnotoverloaded,sowatercanreachall thedishesduringthewash.

Softwateris requiredfor dishwashingto preventthe buildupof scale(limedeposits)onyourdishesandin yourDishDrawe¢_. If hard
water is usedfordishwashing,youwill noticeglasseswill becomeopaque,disheswill becomespottedor havea whitefilmonthemand
yourdishwasherwill becomelessefficientovera periodoftime. Tapwater above100ppmmust besoftenedfor dishwashingfor optimum
wash performance.

water softenerwhichis designedto removethe calciumand
magnesiumionsthat causewater to be'hard'. Thewater
softenerwillautomaticallyremovethe hardnessfromthewater
usinga saltsolution.Theamountof saltrequiredwilldepend
onthelocalwater hardness.Yourlocalwater companywill be
ableto provideyouwith theinformationon thewaterhardness
inyourlocalarea.
Thewater softenermustbe setto thecorrect localwater hardness
andmustalwaysbefilledwith granularsaltmadeespeciallyfor
dishwasherwater softeningsystems.Wedo notrecommendthe use
ofcookingsalt liketableor rocksalt orpelletsastheymaycontain
impuritiesthat will impairor diminishthe lifeof the watersoftener.

Determine the Water Hardnessin YourLocal Area
Identifythe settingyourequirefor yourDishDrawer'_fromthe water hardnesstablebelow. Forexample,if yourwater hardnessis
500ppm,thenthe watersoftenersettingonyourDishDrawe¢_shouldbefour. Referto theOptionAdjustmentModeto adjustthewater
softenersothatthe settingcorrespondsto yourwater hardness.

Watersofteningcanonlytakeplacewhenthereissalt inthe reservoir. : If the salt indicatorlight isred,the saltreservoiris empty.
Thesaltreservoirmustbe filledpriorto usingthe DishDrawer_ and
wheneverthesalt reservoirindicatorlightis red.
How to Fill theSalt Reservoir
1. Openthe DishDrawer®.
2. Unscrewthesalt reservoirplugbyturningcounter-clockwise.
3. Placethe saltintothesaltcontainerandpourthe contentsintothe
saltreservoir.Thesalt reservoircanholdupto approximately
lib ofsalt.
4. Fitthecaptightlybackintoits originalposition.
5. If youdo notwashyourdishesimmediatelyafterfillingthesalt
reservoir,runa rinseprogramto removeanysaltwater or
spiltgranules.
Note
Whenfillingthesalt dispenser,youmaynoticewaterbeingdisplaced
fromthewater softeneroverflow.
If thesalt indicatorlightisblack,thereisenoughsaltin the
reservoirforthe washprogramthat hasbeenselected.
