1.1WARRANTY
FlannMicrowaveLtdwarrantseachproductofitsmanufacturetobefreefromdefectsinmaterialand
workmanship.Ourobligationunderthiswarrantyislimitedtoservicingoradjustinganyproducts
returnedtoouraddressforthatpurpose,andtomakegoodatourfacilityanypartorpartsthereof,
withinoneyearofthedateofdeliverytotheoriginalpurchaser,andwhichafterexaminationshallbe
showntooursatisfactiontohavebeenthusdefective.Warrantyreturnsorrepairsmustfirstbe
authorisedbyFlannMicrowaveLtd,andthenreturnedinaccordancewithourdetailedinstructions,with
transportchargesprepaid.Flanndoesnotauthoriseanythirdpartytoassumeforthemanyother
liabilityinconnectionwiththeoriginalsalethantheforegoing.Unauthorisedtamperingwithsealed
screwswillinvalidatethewarrantyandmayresultindamagetotheproduct.
1.2DESIGNCHANGES
FlannMicrowaveLtdreservestherighttomakechangesinthedesignofitsproductswithoutreference
to,andwithoutincurringanyobligationtomakethesamealterationson,productspreviouslypurchased.

1.4REPAIRS
Whenwishingtoreturninstrumentsforrepairs,orforanyotherreason,pleasecontactthisCompanyfor

Ethernet(PoE)toIEEE802.3af,andconnecttheotherendtothe625instrument.
TheEthernetinterfaceisprovidedbyaLantronixxPICO110device.Undernocircumstancesshouldthis
devicebere‐configured.
IntheeventthatthelabelshowingtheinstrumentMACaddressisaccidentallyremovedfromthe
instrument,itispossibletorunautilitythatwillreadtheinstrument’sMACaddress.This‘DeviceInstaller’
programcanbedownloadedfrom:
https://www.lantronix.com/products/deviceinstaller/
Whensuppliedfromthefactory,thedeviceisconfiguredtoconnectautomaticallytoanetworkusingthe
DHCPprotocolwithdynamicIPaddress.

TheModel625SystemAttenuatorisdesignedtooperatein‘non‐hazardous’indoorindustrialor
laboratoryareas,orinaprotectedoutdoorenvironment.
TheoperatingenvironmentmustconformtotheconditionsshowninTable1.Operationoutsidethese
rangescannotbeguaranteedandmayposedangerstotheoperatororcausemechanicalorelectrical
failureoftheequipment.Theinstrumentcanbecomewarmduringoperation,anditisimportantto
maintainadequateventilationatalltimes.

WhentheinstrumentisconnectedtoaPoE‐compatiblenetwork,itresetstothe60dBreferenceposition.
Thisactionmaybedisabledifrequired,buttheinstrumentmustberesetassoonaspossibletoestablish
thecorrectreferencealignment.Refertothe‘PWR_ON_RST’and‘RESET_INST’commandsinsection5.2.
Theinstrumentissuppliedwith‘PWR_ON_RST’settoON.
Theinstrumentcanbeprogrammedtoreturntothelastsettingpriortopowerbeingremoved.Referto
the‘HOLD_SET’command.
4.2SETTINGATTENUATION
Theinstrumentcanbesettoattenuationvaluesintherange0.0dBto60.0dBusingtheVALUE_SET
command.Thesmallestincrementalvaluedependsontheabsoluteattenuation:0.01dB(upto20dB
attenuation),0.02dB(20to30dBattenuation),0.05dB(30to50dBattenuation)and0.1dB(50to60dB
attenuation).Itispossibletopositiontheinstrumentusingmotorstepsintherange0to9799,giving
increasedresolutionatlowerattenuationsettings.Refertothe‘STEPS_SET’commandinsection5.2,and
Table2below.Notethatthestepsarefrom0dB,andthecharacteristicisnon‐linear.

connected,itisrecommendedthatflangecovers(suchassuppliedwiththeinstrument)arefitted.This
willhelppreventinadvertentdamagetotheflangesurfacesandinternalvanes,andpreventdustfrom
enteringthewaveguidestructure.
