System Requirements for Fluke USB Optical Serial Cable
•PC Hardware: An available USB port on the PC, or on a USB Hub connected
to the PC.
•Windows Operating System: Your PC must be running one of the following
versions of Windows:
Windows Vista
Windows XP (Home or Professional)
Windows 2000
•Administrator privileges required to install software on Windows 2000, XP, or
Vista.
Installing the USB Cable Drivers
1. If running Windows Vista, XP, or 2000, log into an account with Administrator
privileges.
2. Plug the Fluke USB serial cable into an available USB port on your PC, or into
a USB hub connected to your PC.
3. Windows will respond that it has "found new hardware", and the Windows
Hardware Wizard dialog will appear.
4. Insert the CD-ROM that came with the cable into the PC's CD-ROM drive. If
the Hardware Wizard doesn't immediately begin searching the CD-ROM for
drivers, click on the “Next>” button on the Hardware Wizard dialog.
5. The Hardware Wizard will find the USB cable drivers on the CD-ROM.
Note
For Windows Vista or XP users, you may get a dialog box warning you
that this driver "has not passed Windows Logo Testing." Just click the
"Continue anyway" button.
6. The Hardware Wizard will finish.
The USB cable drivers have now been installed. On some systems, you may
need to reboot the PC once following driver installation before the USB cable
can be used.
Determining the USB Cable's COM Port
Once the USB cable drivers have now been installed, and a virtual COM port has
been assigned to your USB cable. You can use this COM port to perform serial
communications over your Fluke USB cable.
To find out which COM port is associated with your cable, do the following:
1. First, the cable must be attached to the PC, or to a USB hub connected to
your PC.
2. Go to the Windows Control Panel. Open the “System” applet. This brings up
the “System Properties” dialog box.
3. Open the Device Manager:
•On Windows 2000 and Windows XP, click on the “Hardware” tab of the
“System Properties” dialog box. Then click on the “Device Manager”
button on the center of the dialog.
4. On the “Device Manager” dialog box, look under the “Ports (COM & LPT)”
tree.
The COM port associated with the USB cable is listed there, as “USB Serial Port”.

Installation des pilotes du câble USB
1. Sous Windows Vista, XP, ou 2000, ouvrez une session avec des privilèges
d’administrateur.
2. Branchez le câble série Fluke USB dans un port USB disponible sur le PC ou
dans un concentrateur USB relié au PC.
3. Windows répond qu’il a « détecté un nouveau matériel » et la boîte de
dialogue Assistant Matériel de Windows s’affiche.
4. Introduisez le cédérom livré avec le câble dans le lecteur de cédérom de
l’ordinateur. Si l’Assistant Matériel ne recherche pas immédiatement les
pilotes sur le cédérom, cliquez sur le bouton « Suivant> » de la boîte de
dialogue Assistant Matériel.
5. L’Assistant Matériel recherche les pilotes de câble USB sur le cédérom.
Remarque
Les utilisateurs de Windows Vista ou XP sont susceptibles de voir
apparaître une boîte de dialogue leur signalant que ce pilote « n’a pas
été validé lors du test permettant d’obtenir le logo Windows ». Cliquez
simplement sur le bouton « Continuer ».
6. L’Assistant Matériel termine son opération.
Les pilotes de câble USB sont maintenant installés. Sur certains systèmes, il
faut réamorcer le PC après avoir procédé à l’installation des pilotes avant de
pouvoir utiliser le câble USB.
Pour déterminer le port COM du câble USB
Une fois les pilotes de câble USB installés, un port COM virtuel est attribué au câble
USB. Vous pouvez utiliser ce port COM pour établir les communications série sur le
câble Fluke USB.
Pour identifier le port COM qui est associé au câble, procédez comme suit :
1. Le câble doit tout d’abord être fixé au PC ou au concentrateur USB relié
au PC.
2. Allez dans le Panneau de configuration de Windows. Ouvrez l’applet
« Système ». La boîte de dialogue « Propriétés système » s’affiche.
3. Ouvrez le Gestionnaire de périphériques :
•Sur Windows 2000 et Windows XP, cliquez sur l’onglet « Matériel » de
la boîte de dialogue « Propriétés système ». Cliquez ensuite sur le
bouton « Gestionnaire de dispositifs » au centre de la boîte de dialogue.
4. Examinez la boîte de dialogue « Gestionnaire de périphériques » pour
identifier l’arborescence « Ports (COM et LPT) ».
Le port COM associé au câble USB est indiqué sur cette liste sous la forme « USB
Serial Port ».

Installieren der USB-Kabeltreiber
1. Unter Windows Vista, XP, oder 2000 eine Anmeldung mit einem Konto mit

2. Das serielle Fluke USB -Kabel an einen freien USB-Anschluss des PCs oder
einen USB-Hub, der am PC angeschlossen ist, anschließen.
3. Windows meldet, dass das System neue Hardware gefunden hat, und der
New Hardware Wizard (Assistent für das Suchen neuer Hardware)
wird eingeblendet.
4. Die mit dem Kabel gelieferte CD-ROM in das CD-ROM-Laufwerk des PCs
einlegen. Wenn der Assistent für das Suchen neuer Hardware nicht sofort die
CD-ROM nach Treibern durchsucht, im Dialogfeld des Assistenten auf die
Schaltfläche „Weiter“ klicken.
5. Der Assistent für das Suchen neuer Hardware findet die USB-Kabeltreiber auf
der CD-ROM. Hinweis
Für Windows Vista oder XP-Benutzer erscheint möglicherweise ein
Dialogfeld, das warnt, dass dieser Treiber „Windows Logo Testing“ nicht
bestanden hat. Einfach auf die Schaltfläche „Dennoch fortfahren“
klicken.
6. Der Assistent für das Suchen neuer Hardware endet.
Die USB-Kabeltreiber sind jetzt installiert. Auf einigen Systemen muss der PC
nach dem Installieren von Treibern neu gestartet werden, bevor das USB-
Kabel verwendet werden kann.
Bestimmen des COM-Anschlusses des USB-Kabels
Nach der Installation der USB-Kabeltreiber wurde dem USB-Kabel ein virtueller
COM-Anschluss zugewiesen. Dieser COM-Anschluss kann für serielle
Kommunikation über das Fluke USB-Kabel verwendet werden.
Um herauszufinden, welcher COM-Anschluss dem Kabel zugeordnet ist, folgende
Schritte durchführen:
1. Sicherstellen, dass das Kabel am PC oder an einem am PC angeschlossenen
USB-Hub angeschlossen ist.
2. Zur Windows-Systemsteuerung gehen. Das Applet „System“ öffnen. Dies
blendet das Dialogfeld „Systemeigenschaften“ ein.
3. Den Geräte-Manager öffnen:
•Unter Windows 2000 und Windows XP im Dialogfeld
„Systemeigenschaften“ auf die Registerkarte „Hardware“ klicken. Dann
in der Mitte des Dialogfelds auf die Schaltfläche „Geräte-
Manager“ klicken.
4. Im Dialogfeld „Geräte-Manager“ unter „Anschlüsse (COM und LPT)“
nachschlagen.

Instalación de los controladores del cable adaptador de

Determinación del puerto COM del cable adaptador USB
Una vez que se han instalador del controladores del cable adaptador USB y se ha
asignado un puerto COM al cable adaptador USB. Puede utilizar el puerto COM

注記
Windows Vista
または XP をお使いの場合、「このドライバーは、 Windows
ロゴ･テストに合格していません。」という警告メッセージが表示される場合
があります。
[続行] ボタンをクリックします。
6. ウィザードが終了されます。
これで、USB ケーブル ドライバーがインストールされました。システムに
よっては、ドライバーをインストールしてから、USB ケーブルを使用する
前に、PC を再起動する必要があります。
USB ケーブルの COM ポートの指定
USB ケーブル･ドライバーをインストールしたら、USB ケーブルに仮想 COM ポートが
割り当てられます。この COM ポートを使って、Fluke USB ケーブルの
シリアル通信を実行できます。
ケーブルにどの COM ポートが割り当てられているかを見るには、次のことを実行

Installazione dei driver USB
1. Se si è installato Windows Vista, XP, o 2000, collegarsi ad un account con i

3. Windows risponde di avere rilevato nuovo hardware; compare la finestra di

4. Inserire il CD-ROM in dotazione al cavo nell’unità CD-ROM del PC. Se
l’impostazione guidata dell’hardware non comincia subito a cercare i driver nel
CD-ROM, fare clic sul pulsante “Avanti>” nella finestra di
impostazione guidata.
5. La procedura di impostazione guidata dell’hardware rileva i driver del cavo
USB sul CD-ROM. Nota
Se si dispone di Windows Vista o XP potrebbe comparire una finestra di
dialogo che avverte gli utenti che questo driver non ha passato il test
Windows Logo. Fare clic sul pulsante per continuare comunque.
6. La procedura di impostazione guidata dell’hardware termina.
I driver del cavo USB sono stati installati. Su alcuni sistemi potrebbe essere
necessario riavviare il PC a seguito dell’installazione del driver prima di poter
usare il cavo USB.
Determinazione della porta COM del cavo USB
Una volta installati i driver per cavo USB ed aver assegnato una porta COM al
proprio cavo USB, è possibile usare questa porta COM per eseguire comunicazioni
seriali tramite cavo Fluke USB.
Per scoprire quale porta COM sia associata al proprio cavo:
1. Il cavo deve essere attaccato al PC, oppure ad un mozzo USB collegato al
proprio PC.
2. Passare al Pannello di controllo di Windows. Aprire l’applet “Sistema”. Questo
richiama la finestra di dialogo “Proprietà di sistema”.
3. Aprire Gestione periferiche:
•Su Windows 2000 e Windows XP, fare clic sulla scheda “Hardware”
della finestra di dialogo “Proprietà di sistema”. Fare quindi clic sul
pulsante “Gestione periferiche” al centro della finestra di dialogo.
4. Dalla finestra di dialogo “Gestione periferiche” guardare sotto la struttura
“Porte (COM e LPT)”.
La porta COM associata al cavo USB è elencata qui come: “USB Serial Port”.
