LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION
OF LIABILITY
Fluke Net orks, Inc. (Fluke Net orks) arrants its
products to be free from defects in material and
orkmanship under normal use and service for one (1)
year, beginning on the date of shipment. Link interface
adapters (LIAs), parts, product repairs, and services are
arranted for 90 days. This arranty extends only to
the original buyer or end-user customer of a Fluke
Net orks authorized reseller, and does not apply to
fuses, disposable batteries, or to any product hich, in
Fluke Net orks opinion, has been misused, altered,
neglected, contaminated, or damaged by accident or
abnormal conditions of operation or handling. Fluke
Net orks arrants that soft are ill operate substan-
tially in accordance ith its functional specifications for
90 days and that it has been properly recorded on non-
defective media. Fluke Net orks does not arrant that
soft are ill be error free or operate ithout interrup-
tion.
Fluke Net orks authorized resellers shall extend this
arranty on ne and unused products to end-user
customers only but have no authority to extend a
greater or different arranty on behalf of Fluke
Net orks.
Fluke Net orks arranty obligation is limited, at Fluke
Net orks option, to refund of the purchase price, free
of charge repair, or replacement of a defective product
hich is returned to a Fluke Net orks authorized
service center ithin the arranty period.
To obtain arranty service, contact your nearest Fluke
Net orks authorized service center to obtain return
authorization information. Follo ing arranty repair,
the product ill be returned to Buyer, transportation
prepaid (FOB Destination). If Fluke Net orks deter-
mines that the failure as caused by misuse, alteration,
accident, or abnormal condition of operation or
handling, Fluke Net orks ill provide an estimate of
repair costs and obtain authorization before commenc-
ing the ork. Follo ing repair, the product ill be
returned to the Buyer, transportation prepaid, and the
Buyer ill be billed for the repair and return transpor-
tation charges (FOB Shipping Point).

Warranty service is available outside the United States
only if product as purchased through a Fluke
Net orks Authorized Sales Outlet in the country of use
or the applicable Fluke Net orks international price
as paid. Product transported from the United States
for hich the applicable Fluke Net orks international
price as not paid must be returned to the U.S. to
receive arranty service, at the shipment expense and
risk of Buyer. Fluke Net orks reserves the right to
invoice Buyer for importation costs of repair/replace-
ment parts hen product purchased in one country is
submitted for repair in another country.
THIS WARRANTY IS BUYERS SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE
REMEDY AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES,
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. FLUKE NET-
WORKS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL,
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
OR LOSSES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, WHETHER
ARISING FROM BREACH OF WARRANTY OR BASED ON
CONTRACT, TORT, RELIANCE, OR ANY OTHER THEORY.
Since some countries or states do not allo limitation of
the term of an implied arranty, or exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damages, the
limitations and exclusions of this arranty may not
apply to every buyer. If any provision of this Warranty is
held invalid or unenforceable by a court or other
decision-maker of competent jurisdiction, such holding
ill not affect the validity or enforceability of any other
provision.

Chapter 1 - Introd ction
The Simple Fiber Solution
Welcome to the family of fi er optic installa-
tion, test and diagnostic products.
SIMPLIFIBER is a high quality fi er optic ca ling
test tool for easy and rapid identification of
failure points in a fi er network. It consists of
two units: SIMPLIFIBER Meter and SIMPLIFIBER
Source.
SIMPLIFIBER Meter, the optical power meter, and
SIMPLIFIBER Source, the optical light source,
address the challenges of installing, manag-
ing, and trou leshooting multimode and
single-mode fi er ca ling systems.
The SIMPLIFIBER 850/1300 Source provides a
consistent dual wavelength light that allows
you to quickly and accurately assess the
performance of fi er optic transmission paths
and equipment. It also supplies a modulated
signal for use with fi er identifiers.
The SIMPLIFIBER Meter measures the power of
light emerging from the fi er. By measuring
optical power, SIMPLIFIBER Meter verifies the

proper installation and operations of fi er
optic components, such as fi er optic hu
modules, repeaters, and adapter cards.
SIMPLIFIBER also helps to identify faulty patch
ca les, failing splices, or ad couplers and
connectors y measuring signal loss.
The SIMPLIFIBER Meter can e used with any
source operating at 850, 1300, 1310, or 1550.
The SIMPLIFIBER 850/1300, 1310, or 1550 Source
can e used with any power meter.
A hinged cover protects the units connector(s).
It also allows the units to e propped up
during use.
The SIMPLIFIBER Kit
The SIMPLIFIBER kit contains the SIMPLIFIBER Meter
and SIMPLIFIBER 850/1300 Source units. The kit
includes the optical cleaning supplies that are
needed to keep fi er connectors and adapters
free from contamination.
The SIMPLIFIBER kit contains:
 SIMPLIFIBER Meter
 SIMPLIFIBER 850/1300 Source
 ST or SC connector adapter
 A soft carrying case
 Four AA alkaline atteries (two for each
unit)
