Fan Replacement Install Guide

If the fan does not perform as stated above, note the error and consult your local Franklin Electric representative or call the Franklin
Electric Technical Service Hotline at 1-800-348-2420.
FAN TEST
1. The fan can be unplugged from the drive and tested with a 9 V
battery to show functionality.
- Connect the red (+) lead from the battery to the red fan
connector, and the black (-) lead from the battery to the black
fan connector.
- Connect the battery clip to the 9 V battery. The fan should spin
freely and quietly. This test should not be run for more than
5 seconds.
2. Test that the fan power supply works properly.
- Cycle power to the drive.
- Verify that the fan runs for 3–5 seconds during the
power-up initialization.
* The bracket kit comes preassembled.

Serious or fatal electrical shock may result from contact with the internal electrical components. DO NOT, under any
circumstances, ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE FAN until the power has been removed from the drive, capacitors are discharged, and
five minutes have passed for internal voltages to discharge! Before replacing the fan, make sure the fan is not working properly
by performing the simple test below:

REMOVE ALL INCOMING ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE DRIVE. THIS IS A NON-POWERED ELECTRIC PROCEDURE.
PURPOSE
The SubDrive50 Fan Replacement Kit provides repairability to drives in which the existing fan has been damaged, failed, or is
otherwise inoperable.
TOOLS AND HARDWARE REQUIRED
The installation of the SubDrive50 Fan Replacement requires a screwdriver.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
STEP 1:
Verify the fan replacement kit.
STEP 2:
Remove the four screws from the bottom of the enclosure.

STEP 3:
Disconnect the power connection from the main board.
STEP 4:
Remove the fan from the enclosure.
STEP 5:
Locate the airflow indication arrow on the side of the fan. Position the fan so that the air is directed into the enclosure.

STEP 6:
Install the replacement fan into the enclosure.
STEP 7:
While holding the fan in place with one hand, secure it to the enclosure using the four screws. Torque the screws to 9 in-lbs.

STEP 8:
Reconnect power connection.
STEP 9:
Fan installation is complete. Verify that fan turns on and is working properly.
