Congratulations on your purchase of FTR’s CaddyTrek™‐the world's most compact robotic
following golf caddy. We strongly recommend that you read the user manual thoroughly (user
manual is downloadable from www.caddytrek.com) and do a practice run of CaddyTrek in a
wide‐open area to get yourself familiarized with the caddy prior to using it on the golf course.
User familiarity of the operation of this unit will ensure an enjoyable round of golf and trouble free golfing.
1. Place on flat surface 2. Loosen yellow knobs 3. Place foot under base and raise
handles. Wheels will move forward.
4. Push tab down to lock wheels in place 5. Loosen black knobs to position 6. Extend 5th wheel(optional) for more
push‐handle. Tighten all knobs. balance and stability on hills.
7. Lift battery cover to open 8. Insert battery and push 9. Power on the caddy 10.Clip handset to either your

The Caddytrek will now follow you and the handset signal. For best results, charge battery fully and do not cover the
handset with clothing or other obstructions to ensure the best results for Follow Mode.

Getting Started
OUTDOOR use only. Practice first, in a wide-open area, away from any
obstacles:
1. Power ON CaddyTrek (switch is on the Control Box)
2. Position yourself to directly face the large wheels of CaddyTrek,then power on the handset.
3. Point the handset towards CaddyTrek to establish communication.You will hear two short beeps once the
communication link is established.
CaddyTrek will be in the "STAND-BY" mode with the SB LED light flashing.
Follow mode (FL)
1. Position yourself in front of the large wheels of CaddyTrek with your back towards the caddy.
2. Clip the handset to your back pocket or on a belt as shown.
3. Press the Follow button (you will hear a short beep).
4. Start walking. CaddyTrek will follow at your pace.
5. When you are ready to hit a shot or putt, press the Follow button again or the STOP button to stop the caddy.
Caddy will go into Stand-By (SB) mode. You will hear one long and one short beep when CaddyTrek is
switched to SB mode.
Remote Control mode (RC)
1. Position yourself behind the large wheels of CaddyTrek with your chest facing the caddy. You must always
have CaddyTrek in front of you while in Remote Control mode.
2. Hold down the LEFT directional button on the RC for 3 seconds. You will hear a short beep and the RC
LED (Remote Control) light will turn on.
Press UP(Forward), DOWN(Reverse), LEFT, or RIGHT directional buttons to move CaddyTrek in desired
direction.
Holding down or repeated pressing of the UP directional button will quickly accelerate CaddyTrek to its
maximum forward speed.
Pressing DOWN or Reverse button to slow down while in FORWARD direction.
3. Press the STOP button to stop the caddy. CaddyTrek will remain in the RC mode.
4. Press the STOP button again will get CaddyTrek out of the Remote Control mode and into the Stand-By
mode.
Manual Push/Pull Mode
1. Make sure the caddy is on a leveled ground.
2. Power off CaddyTrek and the handset.
3. Push or pull CaddyTrek with the handle bar
4. Caddytrek with power off will no longer have the electronic brake in manual mode so use caution leaving on
hills or slopes in this mode.

Folding CaddyTrek for Transport or Storage
Folding CaddyTrek is easy after you’ve practiced a few times. Refer to the setup photos and follow in reverse
order:
Make sure CaddyTrek is placed on leveled ground and is powered off.
Loosen the two black knobs on the Upper Bag Support Bar, lower the handle, and tighten the two black
knobs.
Fold in the 5th wheel (pull wheel arm to the left then slide the wheel under the Battery Housing case).
Loosen the two yellow knobs on the lower frame. Release the yellow flap (lock) on the Frame Lock in the
middle.
Step on the 5th wheel bracket. Use one hand to grab the Small Wheel Bar and push it inward, while your
other hand grabs the Upper Bag Support Bar and lowers it over the Small Wheels Bar. Make sure the caddy
is tucked in tightly and securely. Refer to the user manual for complete details (reverse steps of the unfolding
instructions shown on the opposite side of this card).
Tighten the two yellow knobs.
CaddyTrek is now ready to be picked up by the Handle and stored away.

Charging the Battery and Handset:
The Caddytrek uses a Lithium battery to power the motors and sensors. The battery should be fully charged
before using your Caddytrek.
Check the battery charge level by pressing the Red Button on top of the battery (see photo). Three green lights
showing on the battery level indicator means fully charged. Two green lights on indicator means 50-75%
charged and we recommend charging before use. One single green light on indicator means less than 50%
charged and necessary to charge before use.
The battery life cycle for your Caddytrek lithium battery is expected to take up to 500 charges.
Warranty for the Lithium battery is 90 days.
The lithium battery comes with a charger unit which can be plugged into any residential electrical outlet.
The handset battery is a Lithium Ion 4.2V battery which will remain charged for up to 30 hours.
The handset battery takes 2 hours to fully charge.
The handset comes with a charger as well which can be plugged into any residential electrical outlet.

Precautions
Use CaddyTrek on golf courses only. Do not operate CaddyTrek in enclosed or confined areas or
environments. Radio frequency signals and/or interference, Wi-Fi or similar electronic signals while in other
environments other than outside on a golf course, may cause abnormal or erratic behavior of the caddy.
DO NOT let any object or towel block or hang in front of the sensors.
CaddyTrek will follow best when you position your body directly in front of the large wheels. Position
yourself as close as possible to CaddyTrek to perform U-turns or sharp turns. Walk slower when making turns
or changing direction.
Use caution when operating CaddyTrek in a confined area, on steep slopes, or side hills. Walk slowly or use
Manual Mode as needed. Walk slowly and guide CaddyTrek carefully to clear hazardous areas, water bodies,
bunkers, cliffs, etc. We recommend that you practice and familiarize yourself with the operation of Caddytrek
and how its sensors follow your handset before using on the golf course.
Overhead Electric Power Lines and/or nearby radar (airports or air base) can cause interference while using
the Follow Mode. We recommend if operating near Power Lines or Radar Towers use Remote Control Mode
for better results and no interference in these areas.
Gravel, crushed stone or uneven surfaces and paths may cause the Caddytrek’s Follow Mode signal to be
less responsive but depending on the surface conditions. You may either use it in Remote Control Mode for
more responsive results on these surfaces or walk at a pace which allows Caddytrek to remain closer to you to
ensure a better direct connect signal.
Do not direct CaddyTrek towards people, or other carts.
Do not discard the original shipping carton after unpacking your CaddyTrek. Should your CaddyTrek need
to be shipped for service, repacking in the original shipping carton would be needed. Keep the carton in a
safe and dry place.

Trouble Shooting:
1. Caddytrek does not follow along when the follow mode is activated.
a) This could be caused by golfer walking away from the caddy too quickly when the follow mode is
activated. Golfer should start walking away slowly from the caddy, once caddy starts following, golfer
may walk at his/her normal walking speed.
b) Make sure you are close to the caddy within 2 meters when activating the follow mode.
c) Check the LED lights on the handset, make sure the FL LED light is on. If not, press the FOLLOW
button again.
2. While following, caddy stops randomly.
This may be caused by some things or persons interference between the handset and the caddy. Make
sure the handset is not covered by heavy clothing like a jacket. The handset (especially the receiver for
sensing) must not be covered.
3. While following, caddy may turn to different directions on side hills and stop.
Avoid side hills while using “Follow”. Use Remote Control to correct the caddy’s directions and bring it
back to you. Or walk back to the caddy to correct its directions and resume following. Or power off the
caddy and push it out of the side hills and resume following on flatter grounds.
4. Remote Control directional keys are too close to the RC toggle button.
Pressing the Remote Control directional keys may also touch the center RC toggle button by mistake
and cause the caddy to stop.
Make sure you do not touch the center RC button (which toggles between on/off of RC) when pressing
the UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT directional keys.
5. Running or stopping at high speed on steep hills (> 25 degrees) in either follow or remote control
mode may cause caddy to turn over
Always use special care around steep hills. Use a constant stable speed while on steep hills, avoid
sudden acceleration or deceleration. When caddy turned over, put caddy in “SB” (Stand-By) mode
immediately before getting the caddy up.
6. On flat surface, caddy followed golfer well for a while, then it stopped following.
a) Make sure the FL LED light is on, if not, press FOLLOW Mode button.
b) If the caddy still does not respond, re-power off and on the caddy, and re-power off and on the
handset, and try again.
c)Check to ensure that there are not obstructions blocking direct signal between the Caddytrek sensors
and the handheld remote unit.
d)If space between Caddytrek and yourself becomes too great and the unit stops or pauses, close
distance and maintain a consistent walking pace.
e)If Caddytrek stops or pauses while in Follow Mode, make certain the handheld remote unit is secured
with clip attached to either your belt, back pocket or located on your body to keep direct unobstructed
signal. Sometime clothing or garments that have a heavy dense material may obstruct a good signal to
Caddytrek.

Frequent Questions About Your Caddytrek:
1. What allows the Caddytrek to follow you hands free?
The Caddytrek is designed on a proprietary robotic system using advanced sensing and
motion control technology.Sensors on the Caddytrek pick up the signals from the remote
handset placed on the golfer.
2. How fast will the Caddytrek follow or move?
The Caddytrek can keep a brisk pace walk and typically follows within six paces of the golfer
at the same pace while in follow mode. The Caddytrek can move faster in remote control
mode by pressing the forward toggle arrow on the handset.
3. What is the weight of the Caddytrek?
The Caddytrek weighs less than 39 lbs with the battery in the unit.
4. How many holes of golf can I play on one full charge of the battery?
The Caddytrek can be used for 27 to 36 holes depending on the golfer and the course being
played. We recommend that you charge the battery after your round of golf to always
ensure it may be used for maximum play.
5. Can my Caddytrek be used in a group of golfers also using Caddytreks?
Yes, your Caddytrek’s handset and signals are paired specific to each individual unit.
The handset is synced to your Caddytrek specifically.
6. What happens if it rains and my Caddytrek gets wet?
The battery is enclosed in a limited waterproof housing unit to eliminate exposure to rain or
any outdoor elements. The rear wheel motors are also enclosed and encased to prevent
exposure to rain and other outdoor elements. The handset can withstand exposure to
moisture or rain to a degree but its not recommended to allow continued exposure to
heavy rains or moisture.
7. Will my Caddtrek avoid obstacles and avoid collisions?
The Caddytrek while in Follow Mode will follow wherever the golfer goes keeping the same
pace and in the same path. So if you walk into a sand trap the Caddytrek will also follow. If
you walk into a body of water, the Caddytrek will follow. The unit is equipped with the
obstacle avoidance technology in its software but due to its sensitivity in these units the
manufacturer has decided to not activate this feature. The ability to activate this feature
after less sensitivity is enabled will most likely be in the near future.

8. Can I travel with my Caddytrek?
Yes, the Caddytrek can easily be transported in your vehicle and even while traveling using
the airlines for golf trips. The lithium battery however may not be allowed to be carried
onboard while flying commercial airlines.

10. Can I purchase any accessories for my Caddytrek?
The Caddytrek presently does not have available additional accessories but you may

11. Can I purchase an additional battery or handset?
Yes additional batteries can be purchased through our website for a price of $325 and a
remote handset $120.
12. Do I need to have the handle bar up when using my Caddytrek?
The handle bar does not need to be up while using in Follow Mode or Remote Control Mode
however you will need it in the up position to manually push or pull your Caddytrek.

more through walking your round as if you had a personal caddy.
Caddytrek when used properly will give you the benefit of walking for exercise during your
round of golf without the hassle of carry a golf bag or pushing and pulling a heavy golf cart.
